Anyone bumping up STEVEN JACKSON b/c of Sam Bradford (1 Viewer)

I pretty much had taken Steven Jackson off my board when I read the words "off season back surgery" and "Rams player" in the same sentence but....

Jackson is indeed healthy now and Sam Bradford looks like the real deal. Having a legit QB and finally a potentially bright future could be just enough of a boost for this Rams team to play well this season and that could mean a huge year for Jackson - maybe similar yardage as last year but double the TDs. That would not be too much of a stretch and those would be top 5 numbers.

Also, in my main 12 team league, people stay away from Steven Jackson like the plague. Last year he fell to the early 3rd round. I'm probably gonna pass on him at 10 but what if he's still there for me in early round 2? I don't think I should pass on him there at 15th overall?

Thoughts?

So Sam Bradford has thrown a grand total of 0 NFL passes, yet he is the real deal

Dude, we watch preseason and we gather information to adjust our projections/rankings. Of course I'm not putting Bradford in the HOF after seeing him in a preseason game. I'm just saying that he looked good. He might not be a bust. He might really be a franchise QB for the Rams in the future. And that if he Bradford does provide some hope for this team, that would be a boost.

That's all I'm saying and then I'm just asking for feedback on Steven Jackson. So do you have some thoughts on Jackson or not?

If SJ makes it to the 2nd, id be all over it like a fat kid on cake.
I know right - but my league has been letting him fall to the late 2nd early 3rd for years now and that's usually proven wise. I think this MIGHT be the year to scoop him up at excellent value (let's say in early round 2) but I'm still hesitant...How's their OL been looking? I noticed they moved moved Jason Smith over to RT. Has he been a total bust or can he do better at RT than he did at LT? Is Rodger Saffold looking good at LT? I know Jacob Bell at LG and Jason Brown at C are both very solid.Hmmmm....Would've been better if they didn't lose Donnie Avery.

I'm bumping him because I DON'T think Bradford is the real deal.

I think Jackson has enough talent he could run for 1200 against NFL teams if he were running for a Pop Warner squad. And I have to assume that Bradford is going to need a security blanket -- especially with Avery out now and the receiving corps even more depleted and tragic than usual. I figure we might see SJ jump back up into that 60-70 (or beyond) reception area. Would mean huge yardage totals for the year.

The TD's? Can't say I'm super confident, since Jackson doesn't seem a threat to go double digit ANY year on this team. But I also feel like last year was aberrantly low. Figuring on 8 or so, to go with upwards of 2k YFS as he helps lead the team to a magnificent 4 win season.

Eh, he is still a mid 2nd round pick AT BEST for me. I know some consider him a late first rounder, but to me, a first round pick is a guy who you are pretty confident is gonna put up big yards AND score a lot, and I just can't say that about Steven Jackson. It is a shame that his prime years are being wasted on a terrible team.

I'm the biggest SJax fan ever, so I can't necessarily "bump him up". But it doesn't hurt, that's for sure.

Obviously it is speculation, what else can it be? I have said before, he is the closest qb to Peyton Manning that I have seen coming out of college. He is that good. Just my opinion. And he is better than any qb the Rams threw out last year.

I just got him at 1.12 in a FBG league draft and was happy with that. He is definately top 5 IMO if he can get 10 TD's this year. He's no more of an injury risk than any other RB out there.

Exactly - that's all I was saying too. Bradford was drafted 1st overall b/c it is thought that he can be a franchise QB. In what I saw so far, he looks the part. That accuracy he has will help every receiver in the offense and it'll keep the chains moving thus leading to more TD opportunities for SJax.

I liken it to the 2008 Phins. Chad Pennington fell in their laps and his accuracy and leadership allowed a 1-15 team the year before to end up winning the division in 2008. Pennington was no world-beater but his accuracy and reliability allowed the entire offense to start clicking. Jake Long solidifying the OL was a big part of that too but the Rams have also slowly been adding nice pieces (Saffold, Bell, Brown and maybe Smith finally gets it).

I presume this is a fishing attempt to create some buzz and get someone in your league to reach early on Jackson but just in case it's not...

Rookie QBs are not legit anything so no I would not bump up Jackson because of anything having to do with Bradford this season and you shouldn't either.

He's projected as a late 1st-early 2nd pick and that is with assuming his QB and OL and whole team was going to suck. If they don't suck, he could be even better.

In PPR leagues the guy is a legit RB1. If Bradford does alright and he can stretch out the box, I see Sjax with more TDs and a higher finish. Avery's injury hurts an already thin WR corps, so I'm not sure how much of a "bump" you should give Jackson. There are two reasons I never discount Sjax in the late first (picks 9-12) - he's a GREAT talent, and he is the workhorse on a team that will feed him an easy 300+ times. I don't know if Bradford will be the real deal, but I still wouldn't let me deter me from taking Sjax. JMO.
