Like he should . 3rd down back.At this, point I've heard just about everything about everybody. If true, looks like a god match to me, but what role would Willie Parker play?
If he was a good 3rd down back, why wouldnt they have used him in that role this year?Hes shown nothing to suggest he can be a more effective reciever or blocker than Lewis is already.Like he should . 3rd down back.At this, point I've heard just about everything about everybody. This isnt the NBA.jamal lewis is not going anywhere so far....this morning john clayton reported on ESPN that the only team that had even CALLED jamal lewis was the ravens
possibly a sign and trade? but i think a team like the vikings or cardinals is more likely to get him for some draft picks, not the steelers with an established willie parker
Parker is nt a starter in the NFL.You cant control a game with Willie Parker . Of course he will get his long run once every few games but most of the time he is stopped for a loss.IMO Willie Parker is a better RB at this point than Lewis. Lewis was awfull last season. Why would Pitt pay anything for him.I wouldnt..
Franchising a player and trading him is essentially the same thing - the team getting him will have to work out a deal. This isnt the NBA.jamal lewis is not going anywhere so far....this morning john clayton reported on ESPN that the only team that had even CALLED jamal lewis was the ravens

I agree with everything but this. He was a practice squad guy that didn't appear to have Cowher's love and was forced into the starter role last year. While exciting to watch at times, I don't get the sense the Steelers feel he's an every-down back, and I agree. However, if they're willing to run a less run-oriented offense and trust Ben to win games, he'd be a good fit. He'd kill on draws with D's keying the pass and he'd be money on screens in the same scenario. On the other hand, if the Steelers get image-conscious and want to maintain the run first style of O, then I think we* need somebody else to carry the bulk. It all depends on which direction they take. The Steelers like Parker as the starter
Kevin,Looks like someone was messing around on the Scoop Form again today. I swear that for every one legitimate scoop, there's two or three 13-year olds who need to stop poppin' zits, leave their keyboard and get a girlfriend.was just sent to me.......citing ESPN.com as the source. Staley was supposed to be the starter going into camp but it never materialized because of his surgery. Early in camp Parker was designated the starter and saw very limited action in the third preseason game and none in the final preseason game, just as they handled most of their other starting skill players on offense.Once the season began, Parker started every game, including the playoffs and the Super Bowl. The Steelers definitely do consider him as a legitimate starter and expect him to improve as this was only his first full season as a RB, going back to high school.I agree with everything but this. *The use of "we" is not to be interpreted as if I believe I play for the Steelers. I am a native and fan, but use the "we" simply for brevity, so don't get your panties in a bunch.
Lewis would almost guarantee the Steelers of two Super Bowl wins in a row.
But the deadline for using the franchise tag passed a couple weeks ago and the Ravens chose not to use it on Lewis (or anyone else for that matter). Lewis is an unrestricted free agent.Franchising a player and trading him is essentially the same thing - the team getting him will have to work out a deal. This isnt the NBA.jamal lewis is not going anywhere so far....this morning john clayton reported on ESPN that the only team that had even CALLED jamal lewis was the ravens

News to me. For Whatever it's worth, this quote is at least a week old...probably more. I havent heard anything about Lewis to Pgh from any of my sources. There is one minor mention of Pittsburgh related to Jamal Lewis on the Rumor page on ESPN (Insider).
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/rumors
It quotes Lewis at the end:
"[steelers coach] Bill Cowher has always complimented me whenever we played them," Lewis said. "Any team that wants a running back to carry 25 to 30 times a game, I'm here. I'm a horse. They just need to run me."
But the gist of the piece is that Lewis hasn't received any calls yet and no meetings have been planned.
The Ravens have nothing to do with this - except try to better PIT's offer - they did not franchise or transition him, he is a free agentWhy would the Ravens do something so stupid? This better not happen.
Can I hurl profanity-laced insults at you instead? Pitt's getting beat right now and I'm not really in a laughing mood. You may now laugh at me incessantly.
What he is capable of?G C YD AVG TDAs a Jamal owner in a dynasy league, I would love to see him sign in Pittsburgh or Denver. Actually most anywhere besides Baltimore. I would like to see him in a balanced offense that will keep the Def from putting 8 or 9 in the box. I want to see what this guy is really capable of.
I didn't know. Thanks. The Ravens have nothing to do with this - except try to better PIT's offer - they did not franchise or transition him, he is a free agentWhy would the Ravens do something so stupid? This better not happen.
