Just wondering why most leagues haven't abandoned kickers in their formats. Its got to be the least interesting part of fantasy football. Anyone scrap kickers in their leagues?
YOU ARE SO LUCKY!I targeted Gostkowski, Folk and Crosby coming into this past season.
and just what part of fantasy football do you find that is NOT luck.Who cares/mostly luck points anyway!
Usually if you're playing for big money, and you have a league primarily composed of newbies or idiots with 1 or 2 knowledgable and experienced fantasy owners, the more kickers the merrier would be the majority rule and desirable!I think Kickers are definitely a wild card. The league I was in this year loves anything that is a wild card. I'm surprised we didn't go 3 kickers.
Or a dome kicker as plan b.Possibly carry a 2nd kicker for the bye week coverage.Thats pretty much it. End of discussion. So why bother at all if its that lame? After you decide in a re-draft league whether to go after a top 2 or 3 kicker on a "reach" in the draft by selecting 1 or 2 rounds earlier than the rest, or you'll just wait til your final pick to take the 10th-12th best kicker on any rank list (not much separation/difference between any of them really), that is about as strategic as it gets. With kickers you want good offenses that have trouble scoring. I had Crosby.
Gostkowsky did #### all , Folk was Ok , Crosby was a stealI targeted Gostkowski, Folk and Crosby coming into this past season. Looks like you went for Jeff Wilkins or Olindo Mare.![]()

One of the 4 leagues I am in is a no kickers league. I like it because it is different but wouldn't want all my leagues to go that route.Just wondering why most leagues haven't abandoned kickers in their formats. I don't think GB was a team that had trouble scoring they would be in the high scoring catagory. Your point is correct, Matt Stover from Baltimore was this type of kicker for years as was Neil Rackers of Arizona a few years ago. With kickers you want good offenses that have trouble scoring. I had Crosby.
Really?Gostkowsky did #### all , Folk was Ok , Crosby was a stealI targeted Gostkowski, Folk and Crosby coming into this past season. Looks like you went for Jeff Wilkins or Olindo Mare.![]()
We do all that. Kicks over 40 yds = bonus points. FGs missed under 30 yds and missed XP's cost you.Kickers can seem like an afterthought but there are ways to make the position more interesting. Like an earlier poster mentioned, you can make different distances of field goals worth more. Also, you can also subtract points for missed XP's and FG's. I'm sure there are all kinds of leagues with interesting rules regarding Kickers.
I'm not. Definitely what you would call a "frinedly" league designed with the sole intent of evening the field between new and old FF players alike. Kind of sucks to be honest (the league as a whole, not the kicker thing).Usually if you're playing for big money, and you have a league primarily composed of newbies or idiots with 1 or 2 knowledgable and experienced fantasy owners, the more kickers the merrier would be the majority rule and desirable!I think Kickers are definitely a wild card. Sorry Loke, I didn't intend to be attacking you directly (just general statement I was trying to make). Actually one way to really make things interesting could be to have it mandatory to start 2 kickers every week. That would add quite a bit more strategy to the position, leverage out the luck factor a little, enhance trading that involves kickers, the draft (for redraft leagues) would be more interesting, you'd have to pick up another kicker for bye week (mandatory start-2) so roster management becomes more interesting. I know its a complete 180 from my "eliminate kickers" concept, but if you want to keep them in this could make it more interesting and more strategic for owners.I'm not. For the "interesting" argument,Just wondering why most leagues haven't abandoned kickers in their formats. Its got to be the least interesting part of fantasy football. Anyone scrap kickers in their leagues?
Oh, don't misunderstand me dude, I didn't take that as an attack at all! I was just poiting out my league is anything but big money or sharks. And so it is designed around rules to "even the field."Sorry Loke, I didn't intend to be attacking you directly (just general statement I was trying to make). and just what part of fantasy football do you find that is NOT luck.Who cares/mostly luck points anyway!
nice one... the trick is too not even draft one. Wait and grab an FA.and just what part of fantasy football do you find that is NOT luck.Who cares/mostly luck points anyway!
I came to that conclusion this year.In "standard" scoring they are less offensive because they are less significant. But in decent scoring systems their presence is annoying. They clutter up the draft and make games MORE unpredictable.Just wondering why most leagues haven't abandoned kickers in their formats. Its got to be the least interesting part of fantasy football. I did in one in exchange I add another rb/wr slotJust wondering why most leagues haven't abandoned kickers in their formats. Its got to be the least interesting part of fantasy football. Anyone scrap kickers in their leagues?
...and we all thank you for attacking the messenger. An invaluable contribution to the discussion.Really? They finished 3 of the top 4 in my main league, and Gostkowski's week-to-week consistency as opposed to one or 2 huge games mixed in with a bunch of lousy ones (see Bironas, Rob), made him a very useful contributor to teams where I had him almost every week. Anyway, my point was that it sounds like the OP is pissed because he had crappy kickers who weren't reliable scorers rather than that the position is useless for fantasy purposes.
