Anyone else think that Selvin Young looks better/more explosive... (1 Viewer)

Watching the game last night I couldn't help but think that Young just looked much quicker and more explosive than Henry. I know that Henry isn't that type of RB (more of a smashmouth guy up the middle) but I think that this Young kid could be a stud RB in that system. Then again who couldn't be.

Am I alone here?

Nah. I'm sure all Selvin Young owners (that don't have Henry) feel the same.

There may be concerns in other areas. For example shanny doesn't care how explosive you are if you can't pick up a blitz. I am not saying he can't, but there is more to being the starting RB in Denver than running skills.

While I agree that Young is much better than I expected, the first half was heavily carried by Henry, correct?

He did a lot of his damage off "gimicky" stuff like that reverse/draw plays. It still counts, but it's not as if they were stacking the box for him.

He did look sick on the reverse, I'll give him that.

He comes in on passing downs and faces nickels and dimes. Obviously, there's a lot more room to run in those formations. So, yeah, a lot of gimmicks. Though I will say that he looks quick and strong but I wouldn't expect them to replace Henry any time soon.

:lmao: This isn't a knock on Young as he has looked good even if he is facing defenses on passing downs that are also somewhat worn out. However, you shouldn't be knocking Henry while trying to talk up Young. Henry is leading the NFL in rushing yds through 4 games even after only getting 11 carries last week. He was carving out 9 and 10 yard chunks when Indy KNEW they were running and still couldn't stop him. The guy is the perfect RB for that Denver system and he's making it count with almost every carry he's getting. Right now, Young is a perfect complement for him and could probably step in and do well if Henry missed time, but Henry is the clear starter and has shown why Denver went out and got him and paid him a hefty amount.

Selvin Young owners will agree wholeheartedly!

If Henry does have a lingering injury, this will give Young his opportunity....with more time on the field a better comparison can be made.
