Anyone regret being in too many leagues? (1 Viewer)

I'm starting to regret being in as many leagues as I am. For some reason this year, I'm in 6 leagues. A couple are dynasty leagues that I'm going to stick with, but next year, I'm not going to join so many redrafts. I find myself not remembering who I have on which team, which is something I never had a problem with. I think I love fantasy football a little too much, and I'm not sure I can give each team as much attention as I should. Next year, I'm definitely cutting down. Then again, I think I said this last year. Anyone else feel this way?

Back in the day I used to be like this. I thought more leagues = more fun, but really it was just a pain in the rear.

I cut down to three solid keeper leagues that I play every year and I couldn't be happier.

Agreed and it just made it really annoying to be cheering for one player in one league and against the same player in another. Also, I just don't have the time to manage a bunch of leagues the way they should be managed. Now I'm just in a couple leagues, two for fun and one is a very competitive dynasty.

This is my 4th year playing FFB and I've never played in more than 2 leagues, this year I'm in 3. I already feel like I'm in over my head but I'm just going to take my time and manage them properly.

 Except that I've cut back to two.

Yes, and I've officially reached my limit this year. My biggest concern is that eventually, I'll be cheering for AND against every major player on Sundays.

I've tried countering this with mixing up formats between keepers, salary caps, dynasties and redrafts. That helps a little.

 3 leagues now

3 money league and that is enough for me. I hate when I have to root for and against same player same week.

I'm in 5 leagues and a suicide pool. I spent all day today putting together a spreadsheet tracking which players I had in which leagues. :lmao:

I think I'm in 6- hopefully I haven't forgotten any. Most likely 3 next season, 4 tops if we continue to do a work league.

I agree with the majority here. I commish a league that is a local league. I wanted to try the dynasty format and joined 3 last season. One was an auction. I like it but I think it might be better to cut back. The problem now is that I want to see what my teams become. I cant let my babies go (even though they are not great teams)

:goodposting: I'm in 3 redraft leagues and 2 FBG survivor leagues (No management, but I still pay attention as long as my teams are alive). At current count, those teams include: 8 QBs23 RBs22 WRs8 TEs6 Kickers6 Team Defenses :loco:

i discovered that the part of fantasy football that i loved most was the draft, and that once the season got going i generally had less time to keep up with more than one or two teams. i started doing draft-and-go leagues, and it's been a good compromise for me.

Im happy to have a big money league since the 80s.

Beside my Steelers (first and foremost) I am always rooting for that players on that fantasy team.

All my other leagues are to make money, practice and be around some good friends. But the players on those extra teams I dont really root for each and every Sunday. I just take care of the team roster and line up and dont sweat the details on game day. Nice to make the playoffs/payoffs, and I expect to, but I dont invest much emotion into the players until its the final playoff week or two.

So how similar or how different do your various teams look? Not to be a ******* and not picking on you specifically, but how does it make sense to be in three money leagues and own different players in each one. Isn't that simply a recipe to cancel out your hits with misses from across the various leagues?I've given up all but one league. I give it 100% and if I misjudge a player I pay the consequences and if I hit on a flyer I reap the benefits. I get more satisfaction out of that accountability.

too many leagues???
:hey: ON gameday, I only pay attention to my money leagues, and I limit those to just 2 or 3 a year. This year, only 2, but I'm a proud new FBG rep in the IBCL, and I'll follow that one pretty closely.

I tend to join a lot of free internet leagues, and although I do attend to the rosters, put in lineups, etc., I don't worry about them come gameday or follow them religiously.

This year I have:

1 dynasty ($ league)

1 redraft style contest league (64 teams, $$$)

The IBCL (redraft contest league)

1 NFL.com league (free)

7 fleaflicker leagues (free)

(NOTE: That's 11 leagues with weekly lineups)

Anarchy total points league (no weekly input)

FBG Ultimate survivor league 3 (no weekly input)

5 other differant FBG survivor leagues (no weekly input)

FBG Members contest (no weekly input)

NBC sports 100K challenge (weekly input needed)

I also am doing 3 other weekly pick'em contests (NFLGURUonline, Shark Pool Suicide, and the FBG Offense/Defense contest)

23 leagues or contests. Don't see any others happening this year, except the next legs of FBG ultimate survivor, but ya never know!

10 Dynasty Leagues

1 Redraft

1 Keeper

I feel like I should have added more leagues this offseason. :hey: I did learn a few years ago to not worry about tracking the scores on Sunday. I just watch the games on ST, and then look at things like Sunday night. Makes for a MUCH less stressful day.

Yep. I was in 8 leagues last year and at some point it stopped being fun. I had the same trouble with remembering who I had on what team, what players / positions I was watching for, etc. I've paired it back to 4 this year and I do think it's far more manageable, but I'm already thinking I might just do 3 next year.

I missed my target of 30 for this year danget! I'll hit it next year! Problem for me is it's so hard to find competent even SOS $$$ leagues with W2F waivers like they should be with 95% plus payouts like I am so spoiled with and have been over last 15-25 years! I will hit that target of 30 one of these years soon.

Never get stressed out. Already have all line-ups IN. Have received all line-ups except 1 omega style opponets. Have all MFL teams set up in GAMEDAY! None MFL on worksheets. Calendor set up to make sure I don't miss any waivers.

Being retired helps but being organized really helps manage my volume. And I see you guys wimping on 6. haha

I'll break em down here for you!

9 DYNASTY

1 HYBRID (AWESOME STYLE) 9 KEEPER MAXIMUM A YEAR

1 DRAFT VALUE (PROBABLY BEST STYLE OF LEAGUE EVER INVENTED)

2 MFL MCFADDENS SHOW LEAGUES

4 FFTOC 250 brackett

1 FBG CONTEST (PLAYOFF QUALIFIER LAST YEAR)

3 DRAFTMASTER (LOVE THESE STYLES AS THEY ARE DRAFT EM AND CHECK ONCE A WEEK FOR WINNINGS IS ALL)

2 OMEGA STYLE

2 FFL REDRAFT

3 PICK EMS

2 SUICIDES

Every one of these is different except my 2 clone leagues I run and the 4 FFTOC.

I want more draftmaster. Maybe a new Dynasty or two but 1 in spring for sure. Redrafts are fine also but I am picky what I join.

I"m in 12 leagues (10 dynasties, one redraft, one local keeper)

Right now i love it, but it is going to be a pain setting lineups, and keeping track of waivers for each league. Besides for that its a blast. It seems like i make a trade every day in at least one of my leagues.

eta. GB having a blackberry :goodposting:

Same here. I cut it back to three but found even that many took something away from it. On top of feeling like I wasn't doing them justice spending enough on each, I hated that many weeks there were few players I could just outright cheer for, because so many of them I would own in one league and they would play against me in another.Cut it back to two leagues a year. Only other ones I'll do are draft and go ones.

I am in 1 dynasty, 1 local keeper and 1 redraft, which is a mix that I like. With my current job this is pretty much all I have time for anyway, but I may start 1 or 2 more next year depending on what happens between now and then. I can't see myself ever being in more than 5 in total, though.

I got burned out doing 3 leagues....only in 1 league now

I don't even want to know how much time you guys in double digit leagues spend on fantasy football. But hey, if you enjoy it, then have fun.

I'm in about 5 dynasties; all are money leagues. I'm in 1 money redraft league... then I'm in a couple of site leagues like No Mercy. The overwelming part is that I commish 3 of the dynasties and the money redraft. But I got good people in those leagues... so they understand if I miss something.

But I'm at the point where I couldn't do another one.. I'm right at the limit. I may drop a dynasty league.

Luckly my wife lets me play and she understands during this time of the yr... I'm going nutz.

Here is my breakdown

2- 10 team dynasty leagues -for shi!s and giggles.

11 - 12 team dynasty leagues (and I love every single team)

1 - 12 team 3 player keeper

No redrafts. I watch football first and foremost. I see where I am at going into Monday night and that's all. Waivers are the only thing that takes a ton of work. I have been playing on house money for 5 years straight.

I used to be in only one league till 2003. That is when I discovered dynasty leagues and I got the bug big time. I have many core guys throughout a lot of my teams so that makes it a ton of fun.

I will sell off a few teams next off-season...but only a couple.

3 dynasty leagues.

2 redraft

1 keeper

There isn't really much effort involved in setting lineups. I like having the rookie drafts in early May, as it kind of gives me my fix before the long summer.

Used to be in 6, got to the point where only really cared about 2 or 3 with having to split loyalties amongst players and teams. Slowly have reduced it to 3 leagues over the last 3 years, prefer it that way.

4 leagues here (2 keeper, 2 redraft) and I commish 2 of them. Personally, it's not so much cheering for the player for me, but rather I have an incentive to watch every game.

Then the heavens above provided NFL Ticket.... and the masses cheered...

I actually prefer to play in as many leagues as I can handle. I've found this allows me to sit back and enjoy the games on Sunday b/c I've stopped worrying about the fantasy implications--if a guy scored for me in one game it was probably against me in another. Usually by the end of the season, when a lot of the actual NFL games are losing their luster, I have a couple of championship contenders where I start to pay more attention to the fantasy angle while I'm watching. It has worked pretty well for me the last couple of years.

There is a point where it gets too hard to manage the teams and stay on top of waivers and whatnot. That's where I draw the line.

I'm in 3 right now and it's working pretty good. I would look into some draft and go or Best ball type leagues. MOP had a nice thread going on them. I have only one big keeper league that requires any weekly input. The others I can just sit back and check in each week to see if I am still alive.

yea, I have been in 4 redrafts the past three years, and it is too many. I think I am cutting out one league next year, of course, I said that a year ago and did not cut any of em'; The problem is that each league represents a certain set of friends, co-workers, business associates, etc. so I really don't know which one to cut :lmao:

I'm at 1 keeper and 1 re-draft.(yahoo winners league) Plus i'm playing 3 teams in TSN's ultimate fantasy football. i had a 1 or 2 more leagues last year that just kinda disolved. not too much work. 4 or 5 years ago i was in a dozen fantasy baseball leagues with daily lineups. That sucked, but i was in college, so it wasnt like i didnt have time.

i'm not in as many leagues as i used to be, but i don't have a problem these days with having different players on differnent teams to worry about.

it took a while, but i finally realized that i have absolutely no control over what happens to NFL players on sundays.

i have a couple leagues that i really care about and a handful of leagues that i just set the lineups and lightly manage free-agents.

early in my fantasy days, i'd get worked up about how every little thing affected my fantasy matchups. i used to take the laptop to the sports bar. :lmao: now i just go to the sports bar, watch the jags play while watching what other games i can. i have only a rough idea of what's going on for my fantasy teams.

real football and fantasy football became alot more enjoyable when i started letting my fantasy scores be a complete surprise on sunday night's around 9PM.

it's amazing how much better i became at fantasy when i started paying more attention to games without checking fantasy scores all day.

now, the one time during the week that i don't think about fantasy football is sundays from 1-8PM. i drink beer and fully enjoy this wonderful gift of NFL football.

so, the answer to the question, i'm not in as many leagues, but b/c i don't get so worked up anymore, i could be in alot more if i wanted to.

I was in 10 leagues last year. I considered cutting a few leagues but added two instead. Most are non-money dynasty type leaguse which draft in May. I late spring rookie draft/football fix works good for me and keeps me looking stuff over all summer. When the redraft leagues draft in late August, all my stuff is in order.

Exactly. Not much fun if you own (and play against) every player.

3 Dynasty leagues, 2 Yahoo keeper (money) leagues and 1 Yahoo redraft.

6 total and I've turned down quite a few invites to join more.

I actually went from 1 to 3 leagues this year. I resisted offers in the past to join other leagues b/c I just wanted to focus on my one keeper league, but this year I changed my mind since I wanted to join some redrafts and be able to have other players on my team. I may end up regretting that decision I think. The appeal to me is watching games and being able to root for/against a certain player based on your matchup for the week. The more teams that a person has, the more difficult it becomes to have a vested interest in which players score since a particular player may help and hurt you at the same time.

I am really just going to pay the most attention to my one keeper league that I have been in for 9 years. The other two are redraft leagues that I will certainly pay attention to, but those leagues are less important to me in the grand scheme of things. Next year I will probably scale back to 2 -- a redraft and my keeper league. That seems to be the right number for me.
