anyone see the 40 yard race with Portis and Landry (1 Viewer)

Portis got a better jump but Landy closed quickly and woulda pulled away by quite a bit had the race been any longer.

I'm surprised it was as close as it was. Portis is a lot heavier than when he came in the league and has 6 years on wear and tear on him. Portis still has some jets.

Wow. Very surprising Portis can still run like that. I would've thought L.L. would win that a bit easier.

Nice HGH belly on Portis. :excited:
:fishing: Way to accuse somebody of something with no evidence whatsoever. Nice precedent to set. :(
I knew I'd be attacked for posting it.And yet I still stand by what I said. Ive been around it and seen it. So my educated guess is that he has a classic HGH belly that I've seen many times before. If you gave him truth serum and made CP and me stand up in court... and I had to put my house on the line and make a guess... I'd certainly venture that he has used HGH.To bet to the contrary would seem a fools errand. And still, at this moment, I have no proof.

Sounds scientific enough to me  I've read about an extended belly being a side effect of HGH use, but I've also read that its extremely rare and likely only if it is not used properly. I guess you failed to account for that with your "educated" guess. Regardless, I frankly didn't think his belly looked all that extended.

It almost appeared as if Landry was taunting Portis...especially at the end.
Yeah, similar to how friends might talk trash during a pick up game. The race was all about each guy thinking they were faster than the other.
It was just a simple play: A screen pass to running back Clinton Portis. But when Portis reversed field to try to beat the defense and starting safety LaRon Landry had an angle on him and ran him down, the friendly jawing started.

The trash talk continued into the locker room and soon bets were placed. So the two stars headed back outside for a 40-yard race to end the speculation.

"We just was in the locker room and betting on it," Portis said. "I didn't want him to think ..... you know, I was running sideways and he ran me down and 'ooohhh,' you know what I'm saying. Don't think you got it, bro."

The two jogged down to a practice field, and with teammates gathered on a hill to watch and Zorn still being interviewed up near the main building, the race was on.

Portis jumped to an early lead, but Landry had a late kick and seemed to win in a photo finish, much to the delight of the crowd of players.

"Oh, LaRon won, LaRon won," cornerback Fred Smoot shouted. "You know the defensive backfield, we knew we were going to win, that's why I put out my money there. Clinton got the burst, but [Landry is] a defensive back and we used to chasing people. He had to go get him and that's what he did."

As he walked inside, Smoot summed up best what must have been in the back of everybody's mind as they watched the race.

"And we ain't got no pulled hamstrings neither," he shouted.

As Portis started to address the media, Landry headed over to make sure everyone knew whom he thought was the victor.

"About the 25-yard line I came straight up looking at the sky cause I knew I was gonna win, you still down trucking. Come on, man," Landry said to Portis, who doubled over in laughter.

"If he want to feel like he won, he can feel like he won," Portis said. "We gonna keep running until it's just hands down [that] I won it."

Zorn said he didn't see the race.

"They had to prove something," Zorn said. "In fact after that [screen] play, Clinton came into the huddle, he wasn't supposed to be in on that play and he said, 'What's the play?' He wanted something, something that he could show his stuff again. But he had to get out ..... the play wasn't going to him anyway."

Portis joked that he hoped the sprint would count as an organized training activity, but Zorn laughed and said that wouldn't fly.

"Nope," Zorn said. "He was on his own, that was strictly voluntary."

Zorn also said he wasn't surprised Landry won.

"Landry's fast," Zorn said. "I wasn't surprised because of what I saw out [on the practice field]. I saw the acceleration. They'll race again. I bet it's not over."

Now, let's see Landry try to out-talk Portis.

Im not saying he has a "distended" stomach. Thats different. We are looking at a muscular man who has stomach muscle bellies that are larger then his chest. He has lost all taper to his waste, yet has almost no fat. And he likely was never fat in his life up to this point. He does NOT have a distended stomach, he is still tight. Its possible he has done an amazing amount of WEIGHTED abs work outs to get his abs to grow in such a fashion that includes his abdominal wall. But the far likely scenario is that HGH is being used (it administered subcutaneously at the abs) and its having its typical effect to the surrounding stomach/ab muscle structure.

I didn't say distended either. If you just do a search for "HGH side effects" you'll easily find that "extended belly" is listed. In the cases that I've read about, I've also read it's extremely rare. It's actually pretty comical that someone can come here and post "the far likely scenario is that HGH is being used" based on a low res nfl.com clip :lmao: . Gotta love the internet!

It's really not fair to any athlete to claim that they're using PEDs with no knowledge whatsoever. But as a simple empirical matter of more likely than not, I'm with BST. That was the first thing that went through my mind when I saw Portis. I don't think BST is saying, or would be right to say, that Portis is a cheater, a bad person, or even a drug user. He shouldn't accuse Portis of anything. But I think he's right in saying at first glance, Portis sure seems to share some similar traits to guys that use HGH.

I don't know about any HGH, but I do know that Portis throughout his career has been known to be of a somewhat "soft" build, meaning he's not the most chiseled guy out there. I'm not surprised that you're able to critique his physique.

My ### its "extremely rare" on frequent strong dosage users. Whoever is feeding you that has never been around its competitive usage.

But enough HGH banter, my opinion still stands on the subject, and its fine that you disagree.

Portis doesn't think dog fighting is a big deal, he uses HGH, man whatever it takes him to get 12 TDs this year.I don't care if he's banging trannys after practice, run Portis run! Go get me that money baby!

Portis ran something like a 4.28 when he came out I think, right?Def impressive he's still got that speed not only after he got bigger, but with the injuries (esp the knee going into last yr) as wellAnyone else feel like ever since he's been w/ the Skins he rarely shows that breakaway speed though? He's definitely more of a pounder now, but even in the open field he doesnt seem to really turn the jets on like that (and yeah, i know no pads, game fatigue, etc.)

And the reason you knew you'd be attacked for it is because it is not logical to make a hypothesis of such high implications based on, as Redman put it, a low-res NFL.Com highlight. You have no other evidence for such a claim, and this is a terrible precedent to set. I am not one to accept such a weak and presumptuous argument. Bring me empirical evidence, such as what has been found against your 70s Steeler dynasty, and maybe we can talk. Until then, keep your impressions on that level, and do not state them like they are fact.

The reason is because people don't have the same perspective as me. Which is to be expected.

I remember him saying 3 or 4 years ago that his old nickname back in the day was "Booty-do". Weird nickname. As he explained it, its because his belly's always stuck out further than his 'booty do'. fwiw. guy's got a belly. doesnt make him Mike Webster.

Again, no offense to you either, but I really find it funny that people can draw that "at first glance" on a low res clip from nfl.com. Not as funny when a mod claims it. Guess I really need to think over if I want to pay for content here next year. This is good stuff though, the witch hunt is on!

little fact about Portis, he is from the south. His mother cooks all the time, and I'm talking fried foods, fattening stuff. There are all kinds of videos on YouTube about some of the events and fund raisers they do as a family, and Portis eats that stuff all the time. He doesn't have the best eating habits, but he is an absolute warrior on Sundays, and that is all the matters.

No, you wouldn't.
Yes, I would.
 "Honey, please don't tell me you lost another house because of something you said on the internet."
I said if "I had to"... as in I was givin' no choice. Not that I would want to.

 I own my house from my grandmother/mother. I am looking to buy a brand new one though. Boy, you sure did get upset.

Bigsteelthrill - what's your background or experience that allows you to make this observation?

I'm not asking to be a wise ###, I'm really curious as to where you get the opinion from.

Being around "athletic enhancement" users for 25 years and keeping myself overly informed on many things health/training related. For starters.

Ok.Watching the video again, the man has a belly - not ripped. More Krispy Creme than HGH cream, but I have to say I probably wouldn't know the difference.

Stop it. You know there isn't anyone in the NFL using HGH. After all, if it was a problem then the union would demand that the owners test for it.

Just like in Major League Baseball!

Yep, but since this is Footballguys.com I figured we would focus on the NFL. They do have a baseball forum though.
