Anyone starting BJGE this week over another solid RB on your roster? (1 Viewer)

Virtually all of the "start 'em" websites this week have Green-Ellis as a must start against the Colts. What does everyone here think? Is it just because of what he did against the Steelers or will he have another one of those 5 carries for 20 yards type weeks.

He's been solid or better in six of the past seven games. The Browns' game was a major buzzkill, especially since he had three shots to score two TDs from close range and failed all three times. But that game is looking like an aberration from a fantasy perspective. I was very impressed with how he played against the Steelers. He ran hard, got several big runs and was even involved in the passing game. I'm not sure if the latter will continue (be great if it did) but he's the starter and the goal-line RB and in a game which should feature plenty of scoring he starts for me as my RB2.

Cool. I hear a lot about the Colts run defense being bad. But are they really that bad? I'm not sure what they have given up lately but I know Benson was terrible against them last week.

Benson sucked last week but two games ago LeSean McCoy rushed for 95 yards and Vick had a 1-yard TD run. The week before that Arian Foster rushed for 102 yards and a TD. The week before that Ryan Torain rushed for 100 yards and 2 TDs.

TDs are impossible to predict as we all know but I think the Patriots will move the ball and have scoring chances. When they get inside the 10, BGE is the goal-line RB so if they get there I think he'll have a shot to score.

Yep, BJGE always gets the goal line looks but Woodhead has also scored when they are more of in a passing situation in the redzone.

@ todisco1 - that sounds like a good decision. I am struggling between starting him over Keiland Williams and Javhid Best, moreso Williams since Best is gimpy and not doing too well lately.

I considered starting him at flex but I decided to go with Dez Bryant. I think he will do fine but I like Bryant a little better.

i really am leaning towards starting him over Foster. I am 9-1 so can spare a loss. I just like the Law Firm's opponent this week over the Jets. Still havent decieded but it will give my opponent something to talk about :lmao:

I just posted this in another thread...

Fred Taylor may be good to go this week. While he will be eased in (~10 touches), I could certainly imagine them using him in goal-line situations, especially if the game is close.

Keep an eye on his status come Sun.

always start... u know the rest.

how much will Fred Taylor cut into his workload? Any homers with insight?
Not much "workload-wise," especially early on (they will ease him in). But, like I said above, I could certainly see them using Taylor in goal-line situations, which would really damper BJGE's value going forward. If Taylor's inactive, start BJGE. If Taylor's active, sit BJGE if you have another RB that can get you a guaranteed 8-10+ pts.

Not a homer but Taylor hasn't played since Week 3 and BGE ran all over the league's No. 1 run defense last week. Obviously, anything can happen with Belichick but I'd be surprised if Taylor cut into BGE's value significantly today and/or going forward as long as BGE continues to be productive. If he keeps running like he did against the Steelers, it doesn't make sense in my opinion to have Taylor heavily involved. I think the concern with Taylor will come if BGE falters and Taylor shows he can get healthy and stay healthy (two rather huge questions obviously). But that's just my opinion.

Patriots' beat writer Ian Rapoport believes BGE could be a busy man today:

The Colts have designed their defense to be fast and furious, coming hard off the edges and making big plays. But thanks in part to some injuries, they are soft up the middle. Indianapolis is allowing a league-worst 5.0 yards per rush, which means if the Patriots want to keep the ball away from Manning & Co., they can simply hand it to BenJarvus Green-Ellis. The hard-nosed 215-pounder had 87 yards on the ground against the vaunted Steelers defense, so figure his opportunities will only increase today.

BJGE is the classic prototype Bill Belichick running back: Very rarely loses yardage, will never break the big gain, but he hits the hole DECISIVELY and plows ahead for 4 yards at a pop.

 He's a rock-solid RB. He may not be a star talent but you can win with him as your starter. I thought he looked very good again today.

BJGE is starting to remind me of Ryan Grant, not in body, or style, just that he continues to get it done with very little respect. The Woodhead/Grant backfield works

I think Grant is/was more talented by a bit but I think that's a pretty good comparison. Grant never got the recognition he deserved and BGE is flying under the radar a bit too. The Patriots do have a good situation now in the backfield. Both BGE and Woodhead are getting it done.
