Anyone think the Steelers have a shot? (1 Viewer)

I'm a Baltimore homer, and I'm hoping the Ravens put a stake in the Steelers' heart this week. I've seen most of Pittsburgh's games and remain impressed with the team -- with the glaring exception of all their turnovers. Turnovers were the only thing that kept Cleveland in the game yesterday, and I think all three of their INTs came on tipped balls. I keep waiting for the Steelers to cut down on the turnovers.

If Pittsburgh wins this week at Baltimore, they follow that up with home games vs. Tampa and Cleveland. No reason to think they couldn't be 7-6 with a lot of growing hype looking back at how they ran the table to end last season.

Things get tougher in the final 3 weeks for Pitt, with a home game vs. Baltimore sandwiched by games at Carolina and Cincy. But if they get to 7-6 and have a sniff of the playoffs, look out!

They aren't going to win the division, but they are only 2 games back from a wild card spot.

Anything is possible, but I would be surprised if they win enough games to even get a Wild Card. I think a AFC West team will end up with one Wild Card spot, and the other AFC Wild Card is up in the air at this point.

If they win the turnover battle they are more than capable of beating the Ravens.

The loser of the SD-DEN battle gets the first AFC Wild Card.

If Jacksonville loses tonight, they're in rough shape to get the Wild Card. Jax still has @Miami (suddenly a tough game), Indy, NE, and @KC. If they lose tonight to go 5-5, there's no way they finish better than 9-7.

If the Jags do lose, KC would have 1-game lead for the last spot, but still faces games with Denver, Baltimore, @SD, and with Jax.

The Jets have the easiest remaining schedule of the AFC Wild Card contenders: Houston, @GB, Buff, @Minn, @Miami, Oakland.

I'm not saying the Steelers will make the playoffs. But I am saying if they win this week, I think they'll keep winning until they're 7-6 and back in the hunt.

Head-to-head loss to Jax will hurt them, but the win over KC will help.

Jacksonville is the only team that decisively beat the Steelers this year (actually outplayed them on both sides of the ball). All other games were either very evenly matched or Steelers greatly outplayed their opponents. I've never seen a team like the Steelers this season actually spot the other team 10-14 points on avg. each week. Watching the Cleveland game, I think Clevelnad only scored 3-6 pts from a sustained offensive drive. Somehow the Steelers gave them 20 total though. Raiders game was the biggest joke...20 pts scored vs <100 total offensive yds. Steelers sure are handing out X-mas gifts early!

Can't they just die already?

That said, if they make the playoffs, they will win the whole thing again.

F'n Steelers.

They won't win at Baltimore, but I think they should beat Tampa and Cleveland at home (although I wouldn't count out either since both match up very well).

I think they'll drop either CLE or TB, and the other will be a huge blowout.

And I think they beat BAL at home and CIN on the road, but not CAR on the road.

This week is the season. If they beat the Ravens this week, a tall order in Baltimore, they could get their swagger back and roll to a playoff spot.

Agreed. They can beat the Ravens this week, but I wouldn't be suprised if they lost. If they don't TURN THE BALL OVER, they should win. A very frustrating year to say the least.

Aren't the Steelers the same team that lost to the hapless Raiders a few weeks back? Given that, no game is a sure win for them.

Let's just win this week & take the Ravens down a notch.

One game at a time, but things are looking a LITTLE bit better.

HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!
