Are the IDP forums a waste? (1 Viewer)

Nothing is ever answered there. There's probably 20-30 posts on the front page and maybe 2 or 3 have been answered in the last day.

You didn't receive a response to a "who do I pick up" question in the assistant forum in 2 hours and you call it a waste? Alot of valuable info in there on all the players you mentioned, do a little research. :lmao:

That's just from this morning. I posted during the games last week about Indianapolis tackle scoring and no one commented. I had seen my player in on at least two tackles, clear as day, and didn't get any credit for them. So I was asking if Indianapolis is stingy about their tackle scoring.

Are you talking about the IDP forum or the IDP AC forum?

Things are discussed all the time in the IDP forum. There is in-depth IDP info in there that I don't think you can find anywhere else. I love playing with IDPs and that forum has been priceless.

If you're talking about the IDP AC forum, there certainly is a lot less traffic there than in other forums so you're going to have to wait more than 2 and a half hours for a response. I don't frequent the IDP AC forum so I don't know generally how long it takes, but I know there are some people in there willing to give advice.

You didn't really ask that. All you said was:
Watching the game and I have seen Berry in on atleast 2 tackles, yet he has not been awarded a single point???
That sounds more like a general complaint about your specific team/player than the opening to a discussion on how scoring might differ in different stadiums. And that topic has been discussed numerous times over the years. Do a search and you should some information and discussion on that topic.

Love the IDP forum. My teams have improved leaps and bounds due to the efforts of the IDP staff and their insightful analysis.

Something also to realize is that a lot of people are far more comfortable discussing breakout RBs and WRs than they are deciphering whether a specific DE is going to be rotating in and with whom at what times, what packages defensive coordinators are running against what teams each week, or whether that LB you drafted high is facing a subpar amount of tackle opportunities.

The IDP community is much smaller than the larger fantasy community. Most posters tend to read and contribute in threads where they have a vested interest, i.e. they own that player or are thinking of owning that player. When the community is only a few hundred strong vs the many thousands strong of a forum like the Shark Pool, some threads are going to get less attention than others.I'm sure all of us who love defensive football and IDP leagues would love to see the IDP side of fantasy football take off to the point where we see hundreds of Forum regulars contribute every day. For now, I'd argue that our IDP Forum has long had and continues to have the most and best quality traffic in the industry.

It was better last year - Ive given up this year because as you said there isnt much feedback/advice coming out of there.

Jene was the bomb last year, I would get his advice every time I posted. This year I suspect he may be too busy to read & answer every inquiry - too bad. There is some decent info over at the site that rhymes with scuddle.

Contribute something, it is what you make it. Not that I contribute much myself, but I'm not the one #####ing about it either.

this was sort of by design I think. In the past, Jene was so responsive to nearly every question, that many regular posters would simply wait for him to respond rather than jump in themselves. As people get more and more familiar with IDP leagues, we are hoping the IDP AC forum can become more of a self-sustained community where everyone contributes rather than just one or two staffers.

Unfortunately, something had to give for me this season. With more weekly FBG responsibilities and more responsibilities at home, I couldn't keep up a pace that had me answer nearly 1000 separate advice request threads in the AC forum and more by PM and email during the regular season last year.Like the main assistant coach forum, the advice requests threads and forums work best when everyone pulls together to help each other and offer opinions. The AC has definitely trended in that direction this year and I hope it continues to do so. While we'd like to be able to staff both assistant coach forums and get to every individual request, much of our efforts (IDP and otherwise) still must be directed in researching and providing the strongest and deepest custom projections as well as general and detailed matchup and player analysis for all our readers.

My drafting of defensive players has improved ten fold from last year to this thanks to Jene and the IDP section, I have zero complains.

I will definitely agree with this post. Last year, I had subscriptions to 2 fantasy sites, this one and one other (which I will not mention). The IDP content, both in the IDP forums and the specific articles produced regarding IDP made me choose this site over the other one.

IDP is still a lot newer and a lot less used than regular leagues, so there aren't nearly as many people informed on the defensive aspect of the NFL as the offensive. Unfortunately there's only one Jene, while there are loads of people who are ready to discuss offensive players.I play in two IDP leagues and only one non-IDP league, but I have so little knowledge on defensive football compared to offensive. I pretty much just know 3-4, 4-3, nickel, and dime. Then I read the stuff Jene posts and it's like he's an actual NFL d-coordinator.Hopefully we'll start seeing more articles out there that focus more on the defensive part of football, like on Sportsline, ESPN, Yahoo, etc...

Jene Bramel alone is enough to make the idp forum worthwhile. There's a lot of good info and posters it just doesn't move at the pace of the shark pool
