Are there any good buy-lows at RB? (1 Viewer)

Thus far I have pulled two "buy low" trades for Mathews and Stewart and both have bit me big time. I am desperate for someone, anyone, to target at the position but having trouble coming up with one decent candidate.

Would really like to get some real thoughts on this and see if we can't come up with something. All I got now is Joseph Addai. That's it.

I'm not sure how "buy low" they actually are, but Ray Rice and MJD are both ideal candidates that can be had for cheaper than their talent level warrents. Whenever I am looking for a "buy low" player, I am looking for someone that has elite level talent and for whatever reason has been struggling. I never am a fan of "buy low" players that are not bonafide elite talents, as they are subject to too much variance due to situation and are far more likely to have their slow start turn into a full blown bad season. Elite talents are much more likely to bounce back from a rough first half of the season.

Ray Rice and MJD both fit the bill for me, as I fully expect both to finish as top 10 RB's and both can be had for less than that currently. For instance, I believe trading Bradshaw for either one will result in a positive outcome for the rest of the season.

Outside of those 2 (since the price to acquire either one will likely still be quite high), Beanie Wells was a great candidate before he assumed command of the startging gig (finally!). Unfortunately, that ship has probably sailed and owners will now value him as the feature back of that offense, but if you can get him on the semi-cheap still, that would be wise.

Ray Rice

Jahvid Best

Jamaal Charles while hes still reachable

R.Bush/P.Thomas?? questionable pick ups

Fred Jackson

players that are cheap and could break out later depending on injuries:

Ricky Williams

Sean Greene

I'd say MJD too but might be too late now.

Ricky might be a good target but he's really risky.Hasn't Rice been playing well as of late?
He had 2 good games but then last week was outproduced by Willis McGahee. If his owners put enough emphasis on the dissapointing game agains the Bills, you can probably get him for under his expected value for the rest of the season. Also, I very much agree with footballnerd on Jamaal Charles. He will cost a lot to get, but I am becoming more and more of a fan of his every time I watch him play and think he has nowhere to go but up.

The RB position this season is just a freakin mess.

Just hit the wire hard every week and hope on of those guys sticks.

BTW, buy low on Jahvid Best? Pass - he has turf toe on both feet and lost alot of toucehs to Kevin Smith this past week.

ya I wouldn't pay a lot for him, but couldn't be a better buy low time if he gets healthy again later. K.Smith split is actually good for Best's health. He's a woodhead type player with gamebreaker speed. doesn't need a whole lot of touches to have a huge day. but yes the toe is bothersome.

The guy that you can get for super cheap is Fred Jackson - I got him off the waiver wire for free this week.

He will get 15-20 offensive touches per game and Buffalo has looked pretty decent lately.

It'd be tough to justify giving anything of value right now for Addai since there's a chance he could miss several more weeks and and is a serious re-injury risk. There's one RB that I believe can be had for less than his market value:

1) Michael Turner - he did just have 2 TD's a couple of weeks ago, but has been disappointing overall and is now past his bye; the schedule looks pretty inviting from here on out w/ Tampa Bay twice, St Louis, & Carolina in 4 of the next 6 weeks as well as home games vs Green Bay and Baltimore (tough matchups, but they're both at home where he fares much better) as the other 2 games

Where can we find the link that says both feet, I'm only getting he originally had grade 2 turf toe on one toe.If you can buy low on Best I would, with the passing game opening up and when the toe gets better I'd take a chance on him.

I have 3 guys on a really short leach:

Brown (really only like his playoff schedule)

Torain (depends on injury)

Moreno (slightly longer leach)

How about Cedric Benson. Benson is getting a good number of carries and with teams having to fear the pass he could see holes going forward.

OK, thus far:

Addai (might be just me but I could see him back in a couple of weeks. Team is calling him "day-to-day")

Rice (pricey)

MJD (sorta pricey)

Best (risky)

Ricky (risky)

Brown (risky)

Charles (way pricey)

F. Jackson (meh)

DWill (double meh)

Hillis

Benson

Turner (best to wait until after away game)

Moreno

Torain (risky, hammy injury)

Greene (missed this one)

To me Hillis, Greene, Moreno and Benson are the only true buy-lows on this list. Jackson I don't expect to do more than he has done. The rest are either currently injured (without a timetable for return) or too expensive.

guess there are some decent candidates

As an LT owner I'm doing everything I can to get Shonn Greene, I think he was being saved for December.
same here, gonna go hard at him after waivers this week. this is the time to do it as he has had three mediocre games the past 3 weeks, and he has DET and CLE coming up where his price can go up after.

What if you already own all these "buy low" busters? If it weren't for my receivers and Gates I'd be toast already.

I've got DWill, Stewart, Moreno, Matthews, F Jackson, Tolbert & D Brown and I'd love to find just one of these guys who I could have any sort of confidence in starting from week to week!

I wouldn't trade for Moreno. That team is falling apart and things could get really ugly.

What is fair-market value for Turner?
Largely depends on the league, but I would think a Boldin or Austin would be close, perhaps paired w/ a RB 3-4 for Turner seems about right as long as you acquire Snelling, too.
If I was offered Miles Austin for Turner straight up, I'd probably break a leg trying to hit yes before it was revoked. Seriously, that's a great deal for Turner. I don't think he has nearly that much value.
