Are we sure Ryan Matthews is playing tonight? (1 Viewer)

I mean, the guy did participate fully in practice the last few days if I'm not mistaken.

I think it's certain that he'll play -- how many touches he'll get is the question.

Ryan Mathews (groin) is active, as expected, for Thursday night's NFL Network opener against the Raiders.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen and the San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee have both estimated a workload of 15-20 touches for Mathews, putting him squarely in RB2 territory against a defense that has not stopped the ground game. Michael Tolbert remains a candidate to handle third-downs and goal-line carries.

didn't see him in in the last 3 series. he ran well until the LT went down. gonna be a long night for SD if they can't solve the LT problem, and a bad night for Mathews owners.

Tolbert in on the majority of the plays.

Looks like I will be going into Sunday needing a little extra from other players to make up for this.

Mathews is under utilized!!! They had him for a huge screen but the 2 blockers out front forgot to block the lone LB. RM has the ability to break one if he gets into any rhythm (more carries). But no, Norv Turner singlehandedly does what he can to keep SD a dysfunctional, erratic football team.

Matthews looked completely healthy every time he was out there.

Was fast, making moves.

Yet he played on like 20% of the snaps, if that.

I don't understand the thinking.
