Of course. Running my league since 94. It's tradition. Still do our live draft. Couple people complain and want to do it online but it's our one time to all still get together.

I used to be a maniac, trimmed down to 3 leagues I enjoy and don't stress that much anymore. usually check my scores a couple times on Sunday. Sure, watching a game with players I have - I'm rooting for "my guy" but in the end I don't stress over it.

I couldn't imagine not playing it. The only way I would probably give it up is if I could not play with people I know.

I feel that my sanity is intact with my 2 leagues. 1 re-draft and 1 keeper.

I started the keeper league with some friends from university after graduation. We all live in different parts of the world, but fantasy football always keeps the friendship close as we all communicate often, even if it's just talking football!

Cutting down to 2 or 3 leagues next year just because I have had this weird penchant this year for playing against the exact guys I have in my own lineup each and every week. Seemingly every Monday night is "ok, get me no less than 11, but no more than 13". Sucked the fun out of it so I am going to scale it back a bit.

Will play the same but the aspect I draw the most enjoyment from is steadily tipping more and more towards "up to and including the draft" and away from "in season".

Curious why you are asking this question? What would suddenly push any of us to stop?
:goodposting: The question must be from the perspective of an owner having a lost fantasy season and no hopes for the playoffs. Getting to the SHIP's is what it's all about. I won both my leagues last year, and am points leader in both my leagues again this year (so far). So looking to another run only makes you want to do it again the next year. Of course I'll play next year. Just two leagues though. It's a hobby, not a business. As long as it's fun, why not? This is a curious question to ask on a fantasy football message board. I don't get it. The OP needs to explain his backstory a little.

I'm actually tied for first place in my only league. I am just curious how many people come back each year to play no matter what. I won my league a couple years ago and our draft night is one of the best nights of the year. Sometimes I do wish I can just enjoy the games on TV without worrying what my players and opponent's players are doing. I tend to say I will take at least a year off but always come back when it gets close to draft time.

Done with it ... It's not like it used to be.

The new pass happy NFL and RBBC has made it so random that it has become pot luck.

The only distinguishing factor is a top 3 QB.

I am definitely changing my draft strategy next year from going RB heavy to taking a stud QB and pairing him with a stud WR. The top teams in my league have Rodgers and Brees as their QB and their RB are less to be desired.

Try to remember that your "rooting" for your guys doesn't have any effect on winning/losing. The real game of fantasy football is played during midweek transactions/trades. That's the strategy that I love about this game. The owners that are inactive, no matter how good they draft, tend to lag in the standings. The in-season management is where fantasy games are won and lost. The actual games are for watching and enjoying the plays. Sit back and enjoy. The game is the thing. The fantasy points can be counted later. This sport is fantastic to watch either live or on TV. As a fan of a particular team, I get fired up for that game, and rooting against divisional opponents. FF is always in the periphery, and it doesn't matter if I am playing against one of my own guys. If the Raiders are winning, I'll be happy to take one for the team and lose in FF. I'll sacrifice 1000 FF season entry fees for my team to win a Super Bowl again. Just try and put the whole silly business of owning a FF team in perspective.

Interesting. The top team in my league this year is the one that hasn't run out of starting calibre RBs yet.

I don't really have a problem doing that. Maybe none of my leagues are expensive enough to make a loss a really devastating thing. I'm in two keeper leagues with friends, and try to find a normal redraft every year too. I think that's another way you can go to avoid stress while watching games; unless you own all the same players in every league, more leagues means more players for and against you, meaning it becomes pretty counterproductive to worry about any given touchdown.

Are you playing fantasy football next year?
I can say that I will definitely be playing again next year. This year was my first time playing in about 5 years...so it has been exciting getting back into it. Currently playing in two redraft leagues, one for free and one money; the money league is by far the best due to the level of activity of the other owners. The one thing I'd like to do next year is try to find a keeper/dynasty league to join. Other than that its been a blast. Currently sitting in the wild card spot in my money league with two games left!

I came out of a 3 year retirement to take a spot in my buddy's league and by the end of the 1st qaurter week 1 decided not to play next year. I enjoy watching games so much more when the only thing I care about is either who wins or, if I don't care about that, watching a good game. I had my fun, starting with the old days of Mitchell to Moore and scoring from the newspaper's game recap every week, but I enjoy my Sundays without stat whoring and being happy when an FF player scores against my NFL team.

I won't be playing next year for the third year in a row and I could not be happier about the decision. It's nice not to have to have a rooting interest in a seahawks/browns week 12 snoozefest or to care what the second string tightend's name is let alone what he may produce during the contest.

If you feel like you don't have it in you to enjoy the hobby then let go and be done; you won't regret the decision.

I just don't understand how it has to be all or nothing. I mean if you are not happy doing it I understand but there can be a way to fine a "happy medium". Limit your leagues, don't obsess over stats, etc.

I am never happy if a player scores against my NFL team I'm rooting for even if I have him in fantasy. I wouldn't watch the snoozefests if not for fantasy. I used to have the pc fired up next to my tv, scouring the newspapers, scoring from the newspapers, and then the internet. Instead of quitting I just took it for what it is a relatively cheap hobby that I waste some time with. I limit my leagues and just enjoy the game.

It's possible to enjoy your NFL team and random games without obsessing over who is doing what. I just check in and see how my team did for the day once or twice.

I think some of you guys are doing yourselves a disservice by not trying to not be too involved. I have no problem if you feel it's best to not do it, as I burned out with multiple leagues. I just play with friends for some money. I can say I would never do this for "free" though. It's really not about the money but I wouldn't waste my time for no prize :)

The Rodgers owner is running away with it in my league. The fallacy is believing that'll undoubtedly be true next year.

Hmmm. You only get together with these people once a year and they complain about that and would prefer to draft online instead?Might want to check into new deodorant.

 well two things. I live about an hour away from everyone. I still see them here and there but not everyone, it's the one time all 12 of us get together.

One of my leagues is ending after 20 years, so I'll probably be down to just 1 now. If an interesting 2nd one comes along I can see joining up.

The only year i didnt do fantasy football was my sophomore year in high school...got grounded for getting caught drinking (fantasy football was really my only punishment, suck it). I will be back next year, obviously.

First year....

I was in 2 leagues.

1. One of family members and old friends

2. Yahoo public league

Initially enjoyed it quite a bit. After a while it wore on me, I didn't enjoy the public league since there was very little interaction.

I soured on the family league because of the antics of a couple of the participants, a couple of the cousins were involved with collusion.

It changed what was supposed to be fun in to a conflict. I am only cotinuing to participate out of allegiance to my brother who is the commissioner(unfortunately, his first year at that role) and not wanting to D!ck him over.

Given the above, I will likely not participate next year....

Yes. I have 3 leagues that I play in. One with my hometown friends, one with my college friends and one with my co-workers.

Mine too! Next year I'll do the opposite and wait on QB and go RB/RB/WR/WR/QB now more then ever will be the time to get two RBs early!

I've been playing fantasy football for 11 years and I expect this year to be my last. The thrill is gone. I'm done. Time to move on and find something else.
This is where I was last year around this time. I played for 12 years and gave it up this year after slowly whittling down my number of leagues. I was down from about 7 leagues maybe 5 years ago to 2 leagues two years ago and 1 league last year.I've gotta say that I haven't enjoyed the NFL this much in years. It's really refreshing to just watch the game rather than worrying about the nagging feelings of "I need Drew Brees to throw two more TDs" or "Why aren't they throwing to Stevie Johnson??"I definitely won't be playing next year. I won't say for sure that I'm done forever, but I won't be back any time soon. It was weird having the leadup to the season and hearing all of my friends talk about their drafts, and I'll be honest that I thought about jumping back in, but I held off - and I'm glad I did.If you're thinking about this - or dreading Sunday, like one of the guys above - take a year off and enjoy it.

Not directed at me, but I like the FFA and have made many friends here who I like to keep in touch with. I pop into the Shark Pool for occasional SNF/MNF/Bills game discussions and for general NFL news. Or, you know, when I see threads like this.

:goodposting: The NFL talk along with the insight into others views of players, coaches, NFL strategy, ref & rule decisions, Suh's stomping etc., all keep me hanging around the shark pool. That and the hof discussions- I really enjoy those. I split my time about 70% FFA and 30%shark pool on the forums. Other than that, what am I doing here??

I am the top team in my league, an i do not have a stud QB ive been rolling with Manning an Tebow, i used my two picks on Shady an Megatron. But next year i will be drafting a stud QB. I find it way less stressfull when you know what your going to get out of your QB. When he goes off for 30-40 pts, i was thinking about it today, imagine having a Brady-Gronk combo or Brees-Graham...its crazy an i will adapt my drafting next year.

Interesting that you ask, I spend too much time on these boards that the overall enjoyment is dampened. I started the dynasty league that I'm in and have done very well, I don't know if I've ever finished out of the money, which was part of the problem, as I don't like winning money from friends. Don't get me wrong, I like to gamble with friends but I don't like to always win, I'd rather have it almost be a cyclical event amongst us all. After the last several years of trying to champion the concept of parity in our league, I've gotten frustrated at the continued efforts by everybody else of voting for rules that only help their respective teams. This probably would of been my last year because of the way the other teams "in the money" keep manipulating rules so our weak teams never seem to get ahead; then draft day happened, our "friendly" league went cutthroat. I did not submit my drops by the specified date and was prohibited in taking part in our FA/rookie draft until everyone else was done. In previous years we always had the drops in when the NFL goes to the 53-man rosters, this year we two days before it; I had pointed this out in an email that we should just wait the two more days and never heard anything back. When I got to draft night everyone was already there and we proceeded, when it got to my slot they skipped me, I balked (I didn't know they discussed this when I wasn't there) and was pissed, but we moved on; I insisted though, that we vote on if the atmosphere of the league should go from "friendly" to "cutthroat". The vote was taken and a majority said they wanted strict interpretation of the rules; I said fine but I would remember that. Fast-forward to a few weeks ago when two of the big proponents of strict ruling, and our commissioner's friends, put together a trade after our weekly trade deadline; which of course I protested in an email to the commish. After some lip service, I was ignored. So to make a long story short; that while I was going to leave the league because of winning so much money off of my friends was distasteful to me, I no longer have this hang-up and will now relish every extra dollar I can take from them. BTW, I think I just clinched a first-round bye for the playoff ;) .

Then you'll be losing to the guy who drafts the 2012 Stafford in rnds 8 or later, while the guy that took the 2012 Shady and Megatron rnds 1 and 2 is the top team in your league.

True, but there isnt a Staford or Newton every year its rare, an hes not an elite QB. I picked up Newton in all my leagues because i didnt have an elite QB, Newton is one of a kind an you def wont be finding a top 5 qb of waivers every year.I am the top team in my league, an i do not have a stud QB ive been rolling with Manning an Tebow, i used my two picks on Shady an Megatron. I'll still play. I took a break from $ leagues this year, but I think I will look for another $ league next year or maybe turn 1 of the current leagues into one. :)

I have been thinking about taking a season off for the last few years..just to see if I can get some interest back to where I was before.

I have lost out on a number of good FAs this year just because I do not check it like I used to. I have an IPhone so there is no excuse other than indifference.
