Are you rolling with Roddy tonight? (1 Viewer)

He hurt his knee last game, came back after half time, left again and I don't believe he's practiced this week. So now he's on a short week and facing the Ravens tonight....any recent news on him? Are you confident that he'll start and finish the game?

From KFFL:

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (knee) is expected to play in the team's Week 10 and is expected to carry a full workload, reports D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Was it ever released what was wrong with his knee/ankle? That would determine alot with me.

Don't think he practiced much if at all this week either.

The exact nature of the injury hasn't been specified, but given that he was trying on knee braces last week and then eventually settled on just having the knee taped back up before going back into the game, my GUESS is that he either hyper-extended it or suffered a mild sprain of the knee. They wouldn't have sent him back into that game, even though it was a divisional matchup, if there was a concern about significant damage to the knee, IMO. The lack of practicing this week is being done to allow the swelling/pain to subside, and as White has worked with Ryan for years, missing a few practices this week won't impact White's timing, in my opinion.I have White in two leagues and will be starting him in each.My :lmao: .

If I sat him, it would be for Mike Williams (TB) or Santana Moss and I have a hard time believing his floor and ceiling are not both higher than those two. Can't really see you sitting him unless you have Calvin and Nicks as well. 5-7 catches for 50-70 yards sounds decent enough to me. Ravens are 24th in fantasy points allowed to WRs in my league so it's not like he's facing Revis. Wouldn't expect him to blow up for another 200 yard multiple TD game but I think it's possible for him to get a TD or 2 or maybe manage ~100 yards based on the number of targets he gets.

The guy went back in last game and ended up with 5 catches for 49 yards. Most of that coming after the injury. I think he almost had a TD too. I don't think he'll give you a zero. ~50 yards floor most likely.

good info. My big fear was/is that he gets in tweaks it like last week, leaves the game and I have to stare at a 0 until Sunday....

I'm in with Roddy, I just can't decide if I'm also in with Ryan. The guy plays lights out at home, but Baltimore has Reed back.

That's my scenario, would you play Calvin over him though with a chance Stanton is QB?

I want to! Local media guys on am radio who are usually pretty dialed into team (i think flagship of falcons- but not sure as it could have been one of 2) said he is VERY questionable and was VERY limited in practice. Fresh off a lose due entirely to playing zach miller I am leery...

I don't expect a big night from him. Would sit him (I am NOT a Roddy owner so I'm not biased here).

NBYS IF healthy and that's the only reason the OP is asking. He would, of course, start him if he was healthy. But he's not and he's playing against a physical defense. If its an ankle, I say sure but knees are tricky and are the quickest way outside of a concussion to end a WRs evening.

Always start your studs. Roddy has been a stud this year. This topic should be deleted.
i disagree with this to an extent, as level of injury is important (especially when the knee/ankle with a WR whose game is largely built on quickness.Luckily we should at least be able to see how he looks in warmups first.

I'll be playing White. Roddy was able to go back into the Bucs game after the injury, so no concerns from me.

I'll be playing Ryan too. The Ravens gave up a lot to Fitzpatrick before their bye. Henne had a terrible game against them last week, but he hasn't been very good most of the season.

I really have few other choices. Mike Wallace is already going for me, so I would have to replace White with Brandon Marshall. The way Marshall has been playing of late it might be the same production as a gimpy White.

Well, I had all three until I traded White so if I had a choice this week I would probably start Calvin because I expect Hill to start. Stanton gave him his longest TD of the year so I wouldn't feel too bad. Logically, you would think a 100% Calvin would be better than a gimped White on a short week but fantasy football doesn't work in a logical way. Putting that aside, I think Calvin, Nicks, and TO are all better plays than White this week. But then again, you're asking the guy who compiled a lower score with Calvin and Nicks combined than if he only had one of them. To be honest, both times Nicks and Calvin were on the injury report and people debated sitting them they blew up that week. I know because I was banging my head that week. I would not be surprised if Roddy has one of the best weeks of his career just because we are doubting him now. There's very little difference between stud WRs, it's mostly luck figuring out who is going to go off.

I'm starting him over Jamaal Charles (non-PPR). (And over Miles Austin, but that's an easy one.)

He is playing at home, big stage against a horrid Balt secondary. I would think his FLOOR tonight would be 6/85/1.. with a ceiling of 10/150/2. Roddy will be HUGE tonight

He's in my starting lineup....unless I hear something negative right before game time.

I'm a little worried that he could aggravate it during and not play the whole game.

But as long as he's active, I have to start him.

This is one thing that is worrying me about starting White (besides the injury). The Ravens defense has been awful but they have really turned it up against top WRs. Here is a quote from CBS:

Baltimore, whose pass defense has been inconsistent of late. Against elite WRs -- including Brandon Marshall, Wes Welker and Hines Ward -- the Ravens limited them to less than 60 yards and kept all of them out of the end zone. However, against WRs who weren't necessarily expected to excel against them -- including Brandon Lloyd, Deion Branch and Lee Evans -- Baltimore let each one rack up at least 98 yards and a touchdown.

So a lot of the stats against the Ravens defense has come from WRs that they didn't see coming.

I think post is vaild if had lucky WR draft you have debate it.I have White, Nicks and TODoes TO give better chance then gumpy white vs BAL.
Anyone care to translate this into english? :lmao:
What, you don't speak Borat?

Yes

Any new news on White?
He said the same thing today hes been saying all week "I will not sit out on a primetime game"

The team doctor said that he should be fine also.

This reminds me of the Ray Rice week after he bruised his knee...I think Rice ended up with a catch and about 4 carries, I am leaning toward sitting him as I have T.O and Fitzgerald, plus I can plug in either Best or Maclin into my flex.

Er, I bolded the part of this analysis that seems off to me. You can argue about those guys as elite talents in the NFL-sense, but none of them have been elite in the fantasy sense this year.I don't think it's a great match-up for Gumpy, but I think I'll still start him over the likes of Garcon.
