I'm staying home.

For this topic, lets assume Trump is the GOP nomination and Hillary is the Dem nomination.

The problem with staying home is that there are a number of other local issues on the ballot besides President.  Public works projects, school funding, ballot initiatives, referendums, judicial retention, as well as electing other representatives at the federal, state, and local level.  By staying home, you would also stand silent on issues that are more likely to profoundly affect your daily life.  Please reconsider voting, even though you might feel that you have no voice in the Presidential election.

Meh

It is interesting to see everyone is still going out to vote, even though the sentiment I have gotten from this site is that everyone hates the two candidates.

it's kind of like the 12th round of your fantasy draft and you're left looking at 2 horrible WR's. even though they both are horrible you have to pick 1 of them...

Dislike for Trump > Dislike for Hillary

While my vote ultimately doesn't matter in California I want Trump to lose by as much as possible.

Not voting makes no absolutely no sense.  No matter how much you despise the choice of candidates, you should find the one candidate that most closely aligns with your stance on the issues and vote for that person - whether its Republican, Democrat, Green, Independent, Libertarian, etc.  If you feel that a vote for a minor party candidate is a waste - it certainly is not as much of a waste as not voting.  Every vote given to a minor party candidate does count - as those candidates get a higher % of votes, the larger parties begin to move their stance on the issues to align with how the voters are voting.

Now that most states allow you to vote from home with mail ballots, there is really no excuse for failing to vote.

So vote for somebody else on the ballot or write somebody in.  This isn't hard.  People who don't vote (but still seem to like complaining about stuff) are irritating.

Irritating? Maybe those of us who don't vote, do so bc our vote is meaningless and the outcome is predetermined to be one of two people we despise

Good luck, you have a choice - Hillary or Drumpf, or waste some time on a meaningless 3rd party candidate.
You still fail to recognize that there is more going on in your, state, city, community than a Presidential election.

You're part of the problem.

Can I have all your picks after the 12th round because I know they have value and I know what to do with them.

Then in your first post you said you were staying home....
It was in reference to the thread title and topic in the poll and a metaphor to my feelings about the presidential election... Nothing noted speaks of anything else.

This topic is strictly about the presidential election, I don't not care if you're voting for Joe the Potato Farmer to be your local Treasurer.

Again, there are more options than just two. I just don't believe the votes are meaningless.  Sure it is slow, but I still think that if more and more 3rd party candidates get more and more votes, they can get their ideas out there more,  maybe get in a debate or two (gasp!), stuff could happen.  This is a great year for it too, when the two main candidates seem to be as bad and unlikable as they are.

What's irritating is not the people who don't vote, but the people who complain about the system and don't vote.

I'll give you 10-1 odds that the president elected this year is not a 3rd party candidate and take a wager at any dollar amount. The system is broken and my vote for a write in named "Deez Nuts" won't fix it.

You should. I think the nation is improved a whole lot easier from bottom to top than vice versa.

People have a right NOT to vote just as they do to vote.  I dont understand why people get upset with someone who says they are not voting.  It's their choice.

Reading, the, posts, is, much, easier, please, highlight, where, the, discussion, was, about, something, besides, the, p.r.e.s.i.d.e.n.t.i.a.l, election.

Withdraw, that, and, spend, it, frivolously.

True, but in my experience, the excuse "I'm not voting because I don't like the presidential candidates" is a cop out for just being lazy.  Leave the presidential ballot blank if you want, but you should still vote.

Of course they do. I think it's dumb in general, but I don't get as irritated with people that are more apathetic about it.  "Don't vote, never have, won't do anything, don't follow politics".  It's when people know enough, follow stuff, complain about the state of the country and the voting process, and still do zip - that is what I find bothersome.

Only if it looks like there's a legit chance Drumpf can win California. (Which I doubt) Otherwise I'm staying home.

What is the point in staying home?  Either vote for 3rd party/write-in of your choice, or pick the one you hate less.  I know people always want to just stay home instead of do the "hate less" thing, but it is a thing.  I don't want to get kicked in the shin or get kicked in the nuts, but if you let me choose one I'm going to pick instead of just abstaining and letting it come down to chance.

Hillary/Donald are very different on several very large issues.  Even if you dislike both of them as people there are still the issues to vote for/against.

They probably weren't going to vote and are using the national dislike for Hillary/Drumpf as their excuse.

It justifies the actions and empowers them to complain about the system even more without doing anything, even the most simple and least labor intensive thing they can do, to change it.

Yep.  Voting Gary Johnson if he is the Libertarian nominee.  Not going to vote for either of the New York liberal, lying sociopaths.

Stop being like these other wussbags and vote for Trump FC.  You know you want to.

Congrats on changing the world by voting for a either a lying criminal or a racist moron.

Bravo to you :applauds:

The amazing thing to me about Drumpf is that he is clearly, beyond any shadow of doubt, neither Republican nor conservative but the right wing electorate is eating up everything he says.  Drumpf's success (and Bernie's) speaks volumes about how disenfranchised the electorate feels.

The problem is that Drumpf is, indefensibly and without question a pathological liar and no one seems to care.  Hillary is also a liar, without question, but I think she knows when she's lying, but Drumpf doesn't seem to understand when that he lied until he is forced to backpedal.
