I am in a league that started about 4 years ago (my 3rd and final league I am in) and we actually have a Team QB position. Of course, I had heard of it at the time, but over the years, have not come across many leagues that use it. The league was hastily put together in August of 2007 and went off of a baseline of rules that the commish is part of in another league. In the beginning, we just wanted to get it off the ground, so we let most of those rules become our rules. Over the years we have talked about changing certain things, but most of the guys are just fine with the status quo and we rarely get majority vote on anything as far as changes are concerned.
I was dead set against the rule, and even led a charge this offseason to change it. I really have no problem with it, but what sticks with me is, "if you have a Team QB, why not a Team PK, or even Team RB"? I guess my point is, where does it end. I have to say, it saved my tail tonight as I lost Kitna. But I am curious if anyone else is in one of these leagues and whether it is a debated topic. If I were my opponent tonight, I would be livid...he had me on the ropes, and now I am almost outscoring his defense, and two players with the "Team Dallas QB".
On the "pro" side, there is certainly strategy involved come draft time. I specifically selected Dallas (actually waited on them), because I felt Kitna was the best backup of the backups to the Top 6-7 QBs...and it paid off. A few years back when there was not a clear starter in AZ between Warner and Leinert, the Team AZ QB position went much higher than either Warner or Leinert in my other leagues...but the whole concept still seems funny to me.
