Foster definitely just came up limping and went to the sideline...

Edit: He didn't really get hit hard or awkward, it looked like his hammy again..

Just about to start a draft at 9....got the first pick. Might have to take ADP.
I draft tomorrow and watching Foster reach for his hamstring is enough for me to change my pick to AP. I'm disappointed too, I was satisfied that Foster, if healthy, was a clear cut option at #1 in that offense.

Arian Foster was forced from Saturday's preseason game with a left leg injury.

It was unclear if Foster was favoring his hamstring or knee, but he was "very careful" in the words of the Houston Chronicle's John McClain when walking off the field.

Source: John McClain on Twitter

***let the guy rest for the 2 weeks leading to the season. Best option

I was about to trade up to the #3 spot (ADP going 1st, Rice going 2nd). I'm staying put now. With Foster hurt, CJ unsigned, and the Chiefs offense looking shellshocked anything after pick 2 is

Arian Foster was forced from Saturday's preseason game with an aggravation of his left hamstring injury.

His night is through. Foster did not limp off the field, but the Houston Chronicle's John McClain reports he was moving very deliberately. He carried the ball eight times for 38 yards before going down. Although there's no reason to believe the injury is particularly serious, it's obviously not good news that Foster is dealing with a recurring injury just two weeks before the regular season. If you're already an owner, you'd be well served to go out and grab Ben Tate.

*** McClain saying he was not limping at all on his way to the locker room, but being cautious... SOunds like a minor reaggrivation.

REST THE EFFING GUY!!!

Drafted him 6 hours ago #1 overall. Didn't enjoy watching that, which I was watching live on NFL's Around the League show. It looked minor to me, and he immediately knew it, was pissed, and hobbled off. I picked Tate in the 12th, and just scooped Ward up as well, who was a free agent. My bases are covered, but its an uneasy feeling.

Love the over-reaction....go ahead and draft ADP and Rice over Foster. And some of you actually call yourselves sharks? The shark move would be to still draft Foster and then just get Tate in the 10th round. In that O, you are guaranteed a lot of points with the RB1.

ADP or Rice could easily outscore Foster this year. In fact, it's likely that both will.

Who is the pickup here? Ward or Tate?
Ward came in and rushed in for the TD. Tate is now in on the drive after. I just picked up Ward in my dynasty because Tate is already on a roster but I'd try and grab both if I could...
There had to be somebody who clicked the "Draft Player" button for Foster right before they watched him limp off the field. That must be a ####ty feeling.
Spent 30% of my auction $ on him about 2 hours ago

And what is it EXACTLY that makes it likely that both will? Is it the FACT that Foster outscored them both last year by about 100 or the fact that no significant RB in the history of the NFL has ever remained 100% healthy every time they step on the field?Agree with Sweetness: gotta love the chicken littles being fed to the shark pool tonight. Some of you guys are seeing what you want to see; a lot of people that have been looking HARD to discredit Foster for about a year now instead of accepting his production. The rest of us choose to see the good YPC average tonight, the great game last week, the great SEASON last year, etc.Go ahead and take your ADP, your Charles, your Rice..but I don't want to see one whining crying thread in 2011 when Foster has remained Foster but you guys are posting all over the place about how Rice had a crappy first game against the Steelers or how come the Chiefs aren't as solid as they were last year or how Mcnabb and the inept Vikes are killing ADP. At that point, they didn't hurt your fantasy team; you did. When I woke up this morning I read that Finley tweaked his ankle last night...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE carry over your lines of thinking and pass on him on draft day and leave him to me.

A couple key facts from tonight's game:

1. Ward was in as the #2 when Foster went out

2. Ward promptly score on a short one and then lost a fumble

3. Third guy in was Tate and his statline is meh half way through the 3rd

4. Chris O has seen limited action

This is why I like Rice better than Foster. Nevermind the injury problems; Ricky W is the clear backup and you can get him cheap in the last round. With Foster, you'll have some butt-nutt in your league willing to go early on him and then youre exposed. And even if you did get Tate, there is no guarantee that he is the #2 or even the #3.

Lots of overreaction in here.
Apparently you didn't get the memo. Tweaked hammy = out for the season.
I don't see too much overreaction. A lot of people are drafting tonight or tomorrow and won't know what's going on. Unless you're sitting next to him right now you don't know much either. I remember watching Deuce McAllister jog off the field to find out the next day that he tore every ligament in his knee. Obviously, the odds are it's nothing but I don't blame anyone who owns him or was planning on drafting him soon to be concerned.

Here's what's going to happen. At the postgame press conference they're going to say they were just being cautious. In week one Foster is going to rush for 140 and 2 TDs.

Yeah...its a tweaked hammy people...those, while not out for the season, are things that do end up recurring a lot or giving a guy problems for a bit. And its not as if he is heads and shoulders above a guy like ADP at this point.

Let's hope, minutes after I picked him over Rice at 2, I noticed he had an injury. Here's what's going to happen. At the postgame press conference they're going to say they were just being cautious. In week one Foster is going to rush for 140 and 2 TDs.

Joe Bryant is obviously overeacting also: "This is obviously a real worry with Foster. We thought the hamstring was completely healed as he looked great last week. But now we're back to worry. This easily drops him out of the super top tier of RBs that he'd be in if there were no injury worries. We'll know more soon."

The shark move might be to take ADP and then steal Tate a round ahead of your buddy that took the risk. I'm going too read the email FBG just sent to see what real sharks think, thanks Joe.

my point is that it's just as likely adp or rice outscore foster as it is foster outscores them. Regardless, of the injury. Name the last RB to repeat as #1 rb in back to back years? That's what i thought.

The early reports that I ma hearing is that Foster was pissed that it was any issue and that its not a serious one, but realistically it is too soon to be definative.

I can see you letting this sway you to Peterson and/or Rice over Foster, but to drop Foster out of the first or even the first tier of RBs is crazy talk IMHO until we find out the severity.

Anyone who seriously injures a hamstring can't walk and is immediately placed on crutches. See Randy Moss 2004. The fact that he is walking off eludes to a tweak/re-aggravation. That said, it takes ~ 4 weeks for hamstring pulls to heal. He likely came back a little too soon. Could nag him all season, or it could be gone by the start of the season. FWIW RBs play with minor strains all the time. With Tate and Ward on the roster, they will likely ease him back in this time. You may have to wait a few weeks to get 20+ touches out of him, but he will likely be fine when it begins to really matter 3-4 weeks into the season.

Your league doesn't keep score the first 3-4 weeks?

Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Saturday night that he is "hopeful" Arian Foster (hamstring) will be ready for Week 1.Kubiak did confirm Foster's latest hamstring injury is to the same leg (left) that cost him 11 days of camp earlier this month. "We don’t think it’s anything worse than what we were dealing with before," Kubiak insisted. "I’m just hoping... he’ll be ready for opening day." Kubiak did not list Foster as one of the Texans' biggest injury concerns after the game. It's a situation to monitor for a top-two fantasy pick, but ultimately not a big worry.

Yeah, because hamstring problems never linger

I will admit it makes the Foster vs. Peterson decision that much more interesting.

I'm still taking Foster.
