Arizona lowers Boldin demand, per ESPN (1 Viewer)

How in the world can a team turn around and trade one of its best players to the team it just played in the Conference Championship game?Just when you think AZ is turning into a legit franchise...Still can't believe they would trade Boldin to the Eagles for nothing more than a #2 pick and some throw-ins.
Sal is a Joke! The Cards are not going to trade Boldin to the Eagles (whom they just beat down in the NFC championship game) for a 2nd rd pick. Pick and a player but that player would probably have to be Westbrook.
Oh, just Westbrook?
Maybe Samual and Andrews might get it done but that 2nd would still have to be involved as well.

Why is Minnesota not in the discussion here?I know they could use some help in the defensive backfield, but overall their defense is well above average. Their biggest weakness is their struggles in the passing game, and this along with Rosenfels would be a HUGE step in filling that hole. Far more valuable than anything they could pick up at #21 in the draft. Is it just a cap thing?
They have 17 million in cap space left... I have no idea why they wouldn't be involved, apart from sticking to their whole "not giving up the draft" thing they said. No reason they shouldn't get involved.
I would ship our #1 for Boldin in a heart beat. They have the cap space. I can't believe they haven't made the call. With AP and Chester coming out of the backfield and Boldin, Berrian, and Shiancoe going down the field it would be a classic case of "pick your poison" and getting beat by the run or get beat by the pass. The Vikings would have a huge matchup advantage on just about every team in the league.
Yeah. 1st and 3rd would probably be more than the Vikes were looking for, but if they could get Boldin for #22? No brainer, especially if they are at all entertaining the idea of Harvin or DHB there.

At least. They'd probably also have to throw in DeSean Jackson.

Nah.. Were used to having good recievers in Arizona so you can keep him.

lol not w/o a 1st... Bottom line Cards will deal him for less to Tenn/Balt so unless Eagles blow out the competition, there not getting Boldin.

you sound pretty confident. Could it be that they realized thier oft-injured, 28 yr old, WR2 with a dickhole for an agent and dreams of making Larry Fitz money might not have teams jumping through hoops to throw the kitchen sink at em? Like I said, if they switch to THIS years 2nd and throw next years third in I see it happenning. Having to deal w/ rosenhouse would be more of a deterrent than anything. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. We can come back to it tomorrow during the draft.

I don't think the Cardinals really want to trade him, but if they're serious and willing to trade him within the division, SF better be on the phone offering their first round pick.

Agreed. Seeing everyone react with "I'm amazed that Team X isn't willing to make this deal" makes me think the league thinks less of Boldin than we do here.

I think the Eagles and Ravens are being smart about this. By publicly 'trying' to acquire him, the fans will be a lot more forgiving if he really is heading to Tennessee than if they had seemed to just ignore the opportunity.

You Eagle fans crack me up. As it has already been mentioned earlier the Cardinals beat the Eagles in the championship game last year and im sure their not just gonna give one of their best players to the Eagles for a 2nd and 3rd round pick. They have already been offered a 1st round pick from the Ravens. What makes the Eagles picks so special that a 2009 2nd rd pick and 2010 3rd rd pick trump a 2009 1st round pick?

Let's see what he gets traded for - then we will see how special that 1st is. If it means having to take Heap's or McGahee's contract too, then perhaps it isn't as sweet as you make it sound.

Because it doesn't include McGahee and his bloated contract?

GOTTA LOVE ESPN RUMORSRod Graves was just on KTAR (in Arizona) and said they would not trade him if nobody met the original asking price.
This sounds more right to me.It just makes no sense to bring Warner back, then have a fire sale on Boldin.
It's called asset allocation. You already have Fitz. Breaston looks like a pretty good #2. Why spend $9 or $10M on Boldin when you could use that money in other areas and improve your team, especially when you can get other potentially valuable assets back by trading Boldin.
Spend 9 or 10 mill on what? The free agents out there? A rookie? A late 1st rounder? And the Cards don't have to spend anything. The have a contract for Boldin. And he will play for it. He's not sitting out all year, and costing himself money. I have no idea what Breaston looks like, other than he looks nice while the other team is chasing Boldin and Fitz around the field. I have no idea if Breaston will be solid complement to Fitz, and neither do you.All I am saying is if you re-sign Warner, it means you are gearing up for another Super Bowl run. If they can get an upgrade on the RB position, where Edge and Hightower are having a "slowest starter in the league" contest, that offense is pretty darn scary. You don't give away Boldin for a 2nd round+ whatever.
:goodposting: The Cardinals have absolutely NO REASON to give Boldin away for less that a 1st and a 3rd, or something close to that. If nobody bites, great, everyone gets to watch the Fitz and Q show runnin wild for another year. Anquan and Rosendick have ZERO leverage in this deal and they know it.

This isnt the NBA salaries dont have to match when making deals, im sure the Cardinals could have said no thanks to Heap and McGahee and took the 1st round pick.

You're operating under the assumption that the Ravens would still be willing to give up a 1st if they weren't shedding McGahee's contract. Seems like that was the incentive to up the draft pick being offered.

That seems like a nonsense rumor that came from nowhere. Trading McGahee slams an 8 mill cap hit on the Ravens. I doubt they wanted to do that, McGahee ain't going anywhere.

Then why dont they just release McGahee? Releasing or trading him is the same cap hit. Im not understanding your logic here.

The Ravens gave McGahee $13M in a two-phase signing/roster bonus over the last two years. That $13M is now prorated vs. their cap for the remaining years on McGahee's contract. If they cut/trade him before this season, they have to apply the entire portion that hasn't yet been prorated vs. this year's cap. They would save like $2M in salary, but have to eat $10M in dead money (from his bonus) on the cap -- so in effect, they'll be taking an $8M cap hit for mcGahee NOT to play. That's not happening. They'll probably carry him for at least one more year, maybe even two, to avoid all that dead money.

to repeat -- the Ravens do NOT have the cap room to cut or trade McGahee. Doing that would cost them $8M and they're only $1.5 M under the cap right now, before signing any draft picks

I'm not saying they do, but there are definitely other variables involved, it is not as cut and dry as you are making it sound. I believe that with the Baltimore trade there was talk that Ari would be giving back some lower picks, the Eagles are offering Justice (whom I believe the Cards were eyeing during the draft) and its possible that they see something in him that we don't and put extra value in him. Again, I'm not stating fact, I'm stating my opinion and there are a lot of variables out there that could sway this one way or the other. At the end of the day (and I've been saying this for about two months now) I believe that Boldin will be an Eagle by the end of this draft. Whatever, its finally draft day and we can stop talking about it.

Since they signed LJ Smith, wouldn't it make sense for them to trade Heap as part of a deal to get Boldin? Given their salary cap problems it seems like they'd be looking to move Heap at some point today.

I read somewhere, think it was PFT, that the Eagles had made an offer, and it was a 3rd rounder. And the Cards turned it down.

If the Card's make a deal, I would be shocked if it were to an NFC team.Eagle fans....keep dreaming.
Lions fans.....keep losing.....every.....game.
Well done. Anyway my point is that ARI is going to be mindful if they do send Boldin somewhere. It makes no sense to strengthen a top competitor in your conference. Remember, the goal is to win. I guarantee they would take less from Tenn than what PHI would offer and be content with Boldin in the AFC.

TO didn't have any leverage either. Sometimes it's better to get rid of a malcontent (or the potential for one), no matter how talented, and get something in return, rather then risk the possibility of bringing the team down with him. Especially a team that just went to the Superbowl and has hopes of returning. Also, I don't think that Baltimore could simply offer up a first and sign Boldin without trading away salary.

Agreed. If they get a WR I would think it would be Edwards.

That would be dumb on the Cards end to take a lesser deal. If the goal is to win, you take the best deal out there. Why? Because you could take the lesser deal, and weaken yourself and the opponent could still land a good WR (Edwards) and strengthen themselves. Now they are better, and you are weaker, and you didn't maximize your asset. Of course, I saw the 2nd, 3rd and Winston Justice proposal the Eagles reportedly offered. That offer to me says they really don't want Boldin (or they're not willing to meet Arizona's demands). Could just be a low ball offer so that when Boldin actually does get traded the Eagles FO can say, "well, we tried. We offered what we thought was a fair deal."
