Armstrong, Anthony - WHY the HUGE JUMP in Rankings? (1 Viewer)

I was Fishing around for a 4th WR for insurance and saw that Armstrong, Anthony WAS WR IN THE TOP 250 RANKINGS at WR he went from being ranked 49th in week 13 to a ranking of 16 in week 14. Now this Puzzles me due to Moss is the #1 Wr their and he is Ranked 37th in week 14. Moss has 101 targets and Armstrong 63. Moss has 64 catches and Armstrong 31. and thats not to mention Cooley's #'s.. What am i missing here ???? all i can see is that after this week Washington plays Dallas pass ranking 28 and then the Jags pass ranking 27 and both games are away.

Anyone else have any input on this guy ?

Because i was sold on Mike Thomas,, before i seen these Rankings.

The guy has played really well and in the last 8 games he has at least 4 targets, 7 targets 4 times, and 10 targets last week. I'd like to see his reception rate increase, but he's the deep threat.

He's almost certainly behind Moss and Cooley but McNabb seems to be trusting him.

I don't think he's behind Moss anymore. He is getting as many targets, but more importantly, he CATCHES them more times than not. Moss has been awful this year. I think the staff and McNabb trust him more thus the increase in balls. I think he could be a VERY good player next year if the Skins address their line and actually give McNabb (or whoever the QB will be) time to let him run deeper routes.

yeah Moss hasnt brought anything to the table this yearAnthony has a future with the skins
How much of that is coverage vs. ability though? I catch most Redskins games now that I'm local, and Armstrong looks good, I just want to see what he can do when the D focuses on him.

The Top 250 list holds zero value this late in the season. Its not worth looking at.

The difference between WR59 (Obo) and WR16 (Armstrong) is 5 pts TOTAL over the remaining weeks and WR16 to WR35 is just 3pts. Less than 1.0 FPT per week.

I dropped him Saturday for Mike Hart in my dynasty league where I was hurting at RB. Of course he's jumped up in the rankings. Look for him to post nice numbers for the rest of his career.

Armstrong has progressed a bit this year. He gets open, he'll fight for contested balls, and he gets targeted more now than earlier in the season. That's part of the reason for the jump I would say. The other part is that the Redskins have little running game, McNabb keeps throwing a lot, and other Redskin receivers keep sucking more and more.

I would like to hear a few others chime in on this though.

So who's the WR to own for this week and the rest of the season? Moss or Armstrong?

I've stuck with Moss through thick and thin this season, but ever since the BYE week, he's only had one strong game.

I'd like to think that these last two weeks are more to do with his injuries, but I haven't been able to catch any WAS games and based on what I read in the latest game thread Moss is a lost cause?

His targets are still there for the most part, but now Armstrong is getting enough looks to make an argument.

With TB CB Talib on IR, and assuming Moss is removed from the injury report, does anyone think Moss can produce more than Armstrong can this weekend at home vs. TB?

Regardless of the point differential, it at least let's you know where Dodds (if that's important to you) thinks they're going to end up in terms of how he has them ranked from now till the end.So whether it's by 3 or 5 or 10 points, he thinks Armstrong is going to be pretty solid down the stretch, that's what I get out of looking at that. It has nothing to do with by 3 points or 5 points.

5/100 todayWk16 vs JAXTake him along for the final ride?
I'm not sure whether to target Armstrong or Derrick Ward with my Waiver claim this week. Both could be the key to victory in the championship, as they have dream matchups in their respective positions. You have to think that Armstrong will be a big name in next year's fantasy drafts.I noticed that Grossman was definitely looking for him. I just don't know if the risk of him getting deep for the big play is enough to play him in a championship game.
