Ex-NFL QB Schlichter's bond for theft case set at $1M

Bond has been set at just over $1 million in a theft case against a former Ohio State and NFL player whose career was derailed by a gambling addiction.

Attorney Sam Shamansky says Art Schlichter had hoped to be released from jail to get treatment for the addiction. Schlichter was charged in February with stealing more than $1 million from a Columbus-area woman by deceiving her about why he took the money.

Rumor has it that bond was set at $500,000, and Schlicter went double-or-nothing on it.

Agreed. The only guy that I can think of that has ever had his type of status/hype in college is Tim Tebow. I really thought the Colts were set for 10 years after he was drafted. And every time something happens, you think he will finally get his life together...

The closest addiction comparison I can come up with is Steve Howe.

Schlicter seems destined to die in prison or at the hands of somebody he rips off. Everybody can turn it around but I'd be shocked if he's one of them.
