As I have pointed out endlessly, $200k a year is chump change, $200 a night in DC, are you kidding? Barely gets you into a Hostel (1 Viewer)

If $200 a night in DC is how we're measuring the have and the have nots, good Lawd are we in trouble, seriously...

I don't watch The News all that much but when I do it makes me shiver when I read some of the stories.

Just help an old man out, not trying to cause a fuss but are we really making a big deal out of hotel room rates for the night?

-I can't afford to spend a night at the Renaissance where i was married to my wife in St Pete, FL and if you doubt me, it's f'n expensive, believe me.

I'm not trying to make poor folks feel bad but this is ridiculous and total unnecessary class warfare and you should be aware of it.

Maybe there is some room for them to stay at Imperial University? Plus it comes with the added bonus of cheap/free tires from Walmart so next time they can upgrade from hostel to roadhouse.

Was looking at DC hotels tonight as well. The JW may be the play. The closed the Courtyard on F and 9th I liked.

Younger brother just fled from there to the Treasure Coast of Florida...he was leaning left pretty hard IMHO until he arrived here. Every day he sounds more and more like the good folks who live around here. I still think he's pretty left of center but then again I kinda don't care who folks vote for, it's all nonsense to divide and conquer us at the lower levels but nobody listens to a word I say so it doesn't matter  :coffee:

How much did the chartered flight cost?
It says in the linked article. No idea if the number is accurate though

The two private jets cost $100,000 but was privately funded and Martinez Fischer said he took money from his own campaign fund to pay for hotels

What is your point?

I've stayed at Gallaudet previously when rates in DC were stratospheric.

Also stayed at the Comfort Inn in n Arlington when expensive.  Both were nice (that Comfort Inn was much better than expectations).

Public officials shouldn't be taking private flights like this unless they reimburse the cost.  This is well inside the influence peddling regime.
