As-tu été à Montréal? (1 Viewer)

For family friendly stuff I did on a trip there last week:

Rent bikes near Atwater Market on Lachine Canal. There was a bike path that goes along the canal for miles. Either into the city or away from city.

Good beer place with tons of outdoor seating right on the canal for a pit stop: Beer

I am here for my second trip in a couple of weeks.  I was in for a weekend with some friends in early July and we did two spectacular activities:  axe throwing and jet skiing in the river.  Both highly recommended.

Went for a bachelor party last year and loved it so much I told my wife wanna go back next year with her for a 15 year anniversary trip. Would be a different kind of trip but also a ton of fun. We'll see.

What a great city.  Had a blast.  Will be going back often.  And the next time will be without children so that I can enjoy the city past 10pm.

you haven't seen MTL, if you haven't been out past 10pm.

Bars close too early there
In MTL? Plenty of after hour spots, and IIRC you didn't need to do much digging to find them. Might need to get creative with drinking but let's just say those memories are wonderfully fuzzy.

I assume most of your kids are younger younger.... But the drinking age in Quebec is 18, as opposed to 19 in the rest of the country

Yeah 2am. It kind of sucked for us at a bachelor party and not knowing any of the after hour spots. Im sure locals have no issues though.

I could have sworn strip clubs were open later but probably no lixx - it is odd considering how progressive the city is... but a little homework / making friends with the servers (a specialty of mine :bowtie:  ) and/or bottles back at the place and the party can go on.

The strip club we went to definitely closed at 2

I'll be in Montreal next week for a few days. I'll have most of Tuesday on my own. I've noted some of the restaurants mentioned. Right now my plan is to just wander around for several hours and see what I find.

I just got back from a short trip to this fabulous city.  The people are friendly and helpful.  The city is clean and seems safe.  The architecture and character is amazing.  My first day I easily walked over 20 miles.  Old port area is something to be seen.

It looks like I’m headed there for work soon.  What do I need to see there in winter evenings?  Not a strip club guy.

Ok since no one’s talking, which I get, there’s already great advice in here - here are some suggestions for future reference:

- St Paul is beautiful but.... solid drinking and food is limited.

- The exception to that is Garde Manger. Great restaurant. If you’re with your GF or wife that plus St Paul after means scoring is guaranteed.

- Mont Royal is a great neighborhood, reminds me of Uptown Nola. Love it.

 - Bily Kun is probably the best beer & atmosphere in town.

- The River, see that damn river.

- Lots of good beer in Le Centre, you can do a circuit from Beer Markdt to Brutopia, etc.

- There is a *lot of good eating in this town.  I’m not sure the big name places are all *that.  I’m starting to think (2nd prolonged trip here) that if they *don't speak English it might just have a shot at being better. It also seems to me that the further you are from Le Centre the more likely they won’t speak Anglais. Crazy I know, but then experience is expensive.
