Ashley Madison hacked - Start hiding everything (1 Viewer)

Not sure if it was that article I linked because I read a few. But someone was already scanning the files for members of the UK Parliament...lmao.

I guess someone could sign up with Ashley Madison using their "work" email. Hell...Hillary had her own server and classified secrets...so I guess anything is possible.

I read the hackers said it was like 90% to 95% guys on there and that a lot of the females were fake profiles. Too funny.

Working for a big company, I am dying for there to be searchable access where I can search for users using company emails. This article http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/aug/19/ashley-madisons-hacked-customer-files-posted-online-as-threatened-say-reportsstates there are over 10,000 military emails in the database and 100s of government ones as well. Venturing into the "dark web" scares me so I'll have to wait for something more mainstream (unless someone here wants an IM for the @companyname.com I'm looking for and can get in the database).

How dumb do you have to be to actually use a work email address? Especially if your job is a high profile one... Good grief.

How would they know this?
I would imagine Jennifer Smith's profile has a backend email of FEMBOT341@ashleymadison.com or something similar. With a group of dudes and old ladies working the profiles.

You want somebody here to basically help you get some guys fired? Edited to be nicer.

Yeah, it takes quite an imagination to understand why people enjoy gossip. New to the internet?

I guess I don't get the gossip angle to it? Wow did you hear Peter was on that website trying to get some bush? How cra-zay!

I wonder how much this hurts the other dating websites.

You have to imagine that a lot of people on the other sites, such as Match, aren't truly single. If that got hacked, whoa nelly.

Apparently you don't get a lot of things. First off, this isn't tinder. It's more than Peter trying to score some tang on the web. It's a site specifically for adulterers. That's quite a distinction in my eyes. And why is such a leap that people would want to know if the guy/girl in the cubicle next to them is ####### around on their spouse but it's not a leap for you to think that means 2Young2BBald wants someone fired? Or that the company would even fire an employee over this?

I think the AM model was perfect for a scam. Think about it, it's guys/"girls" trying to get strange under the radar. But, it's not really under the radar. But, who would ever go on AM.com just to stroll without intent? That's where they have you.

I have friends who have met/married people on Match, and that site is legitimate as far as its intent and member base from what I can tell.

I knew a single guy who used the site to pick up horny women in relationships. You didn't have to be married to use it, I don't think you had to post a marriage certificate or something.

If there was site I could easily go to and put in my company's name to see if it matched with any users I would just because I am nosey.

Not cause I want to out anyone or get someone fired.

You got me there. I didn't realize you once knew a guy. I guess it's not an adultery website after all.

But it's not a site specifically for adulterers like you said. You can't possibly think every person logged in there was married.

I mean I guess you could.

Your two sentences are saying different things. Every person? Of course not. But to say a site with the tagline of "Life is short. Have an affair" isn't specifically marketed at those looking to commit adultery is nuts. Come on.

*edited to correct their motto.

With 95% men the single guy you knew was likely picking up married dudes.

Iirc he got laid a few times. It was a while ago.

So, I fully expect my email will be in there.

I got to gmail when it was still in beta, and have a very common last name. My email is my first 2 initials and my last name. I've lost count of the number of times I have mistakenly gotten someone else's email. That is somewhat understandable. What isn't is when people register for stuff with my email. Stuff they really need. I get copies of people's cell phone bills, electric bills, bank statements, etc. Some of the craziest stuff I've had come into my inbox accidentally: divorce paperwork, sale of a law firm paperwork, wedding invitations, paternity test results, lesbian dating sites, etc.

Well, last May, some lady in the Atlanta area signed up for AshleyMadison with my email. And she uses it. And I get sent copies of messages sent to her and weekly updates. It has been amusing (guys on there clearly desperate imo). My wife, thankfully, is fully aware of this. We've laughed over some of the emails sent to this lady in the past. So that is no concern. I am somewhat worried that my email will be showing up on these lists though. What if a future employer runs a search on my email and finds that? It could have repercussions for me.

I've gotten somebody else's gmail too thanks to the guy having a nearly-identical username, but nothing anywhere near that interesting. :(
