Ask dynasty IDP questions here (1 Viewer)

In a dynasty league where all rush OLB are re-classified as DE I have been offered the following:

I give:

Clay Matthews (2yr/$35 contract)

I get:

Lamarr Houston (1yr/$8 contract)

Rookie 3.08 ($5 contract)

It's a $1000 league, to give you a sense of how much those cap spaces represent. Matthews finished 6th in DL scoring last year, and 80th overall in the league. My other DL are:

Jerry Hughes

Michael Johnson

Aaron Donald

Domini Easley

Jabaal Sheard

Trent Murphy

Aaron Lynch

I feel like I shouldn't give away someone that valuable for what is effectively not very much, but the saving of cap space would be really useful to me.

How many IDPs (again, aside from Watt) would be worth a future or even current 1st round rookie pick? Assume a 10 team dynasty league, so a guaranteed top 10 draft pick. I'd think Kuechly and David, maybe JPP. Anyone else?
I'm cheap when it comes to IDPs.

I wouldn't trade a future pick for any of them but Watt, because weird stuff happens and I'd hate for it to end up as the 4th pick next year.

I might trade a 10th-or-later this year for Mosley, Kuechly, or David.

I wouldn't make the trade. I don't think Matthews will be in the middle next year, so his numbers should drop, but he's still worth 3.5% of your cap.

Not sure if that's actually 1.75%, which would of course be better. I also don't know what the 3.08 is since I don't know how many teams are in your league, but I don't think either affects the annswer.

OK, I kinda feel the same way. I already have Watt, but was wondering who else might be worth a future 1st. I'm hoping my 1st next year (2016) will end up being the 8th or later pick, wondering if that's worth any of those 3 LBs you listed above now. My current LBs are D'Qwell, Brandon Marshall, and Timmons (start 2 weekly), but each can be upgraded.

Any thoughts on Trevathan(if healthy of course) being successful IDP play in Phillips 3-4 system?

Greenway has been hampered by injuries the last few years and is 32, I gotta believe Hodges would be a better option, no?

Oakland has a traffic jam at LB now with signings of Lofton and Smith - has Moore's IDP stock taken a dive?

With McClain out of Dallas, does Hitchens take a 3 down role?

Can Mason Foster become IDP relevant again in the right system? ( not cover 2)

I'm not sure which of Trevathan and Marshall will play which side in the 3-4. I guess it would probably be Trevathan at WILB? Not sure... I guess I haven't thought this through. I don't think Phillips's ILBs have been terribly productive, not sure how that changes with more passing plays lately than running plays. Do others have thoughts on this?

Norton is pretty high on Greenway this offseason, but I don't see it. As you said, he's old and has been injured. He was great for a SLB for years, but it feels like he's on the decline now.

I think Moore's stock has to have taken a dive. It's possible Smith will fill the same role he did in Seattle of first backup LB, but I doubt it given how quickly they snagged him free agency. Anyone could be in the nickel there.

Hitchens sure looks like he has an open path if he can take advantage. I'd get him if I could and hope he comes through.

Foster could get a good landing spot - I can't blame anyone for picking him up and seeing where he lands. Dump him if it isn't a good fit.

Keenan Robinson ($5 contract for 4 yrs) for 2.05 ($13 contract)?

12 team league, $1000 league, where 1st IDP is usually drafted in early 2nd. CJ Mosley was the 2.02 last year.

My LBs are currently: Bradham, Ogletree, Te'o and C Jones

My question relies heavily on the scoring in my league. I'm wondering whether trading a 1.13 pick for a LB is smart to do.

I had Borland, which killed me, cause I had just traded CJ Mosley (for 7 picks 1 in each round)

My plan had been to draft a RB or WR at 1.13, but with my lack of depth at LB I was also considering a LB. I fished around and I could get Demario Davis who scored 245 points and was LB 15 plus 2 late 3rds. With the scoring system the way it is, would it be a wise investment?

RBs are by far the most valuable asset in this league, but we have voted to change that scoring back to normal in 2017, so will only be valid next 2 years. I still think I may need to spend this pick on a RB.

This is a salary cap league, and there is a veteran auction with a few good players like Wagner, Dansby whom are free agents, but I am strapped for cap space so I doubt I could make a splash.

Hmm - I haven't really thought through this year's draft yet - I've been on the road for a couple of months, need to get cracking.

I'm a huge Robinson fan, and picked him up in all leagues last offseason. Still, I'd trade him for 2.05 and look for an offensive player there.

In response to the superlong post, Demario Davis isn't good enough for that trade.

I'd shop your 2.13 for the best LB you can get, and I'd hit the bargain bin for some guys nobody seems to value, like David Hawthorne or Nigel Bradham.

Traded my 2nd round rookie pick in 2016 for D Levy. I understand he's unlikely to replicate what he did last year, but he's an unquestioned upgrade over Brandon Marshall.

I don't mind that at all.

The 2014 league champ sent me this offer. My team is in the sig file. I have the depth to trade Mychal, but I hate sending the champ more weapons. Do I hold or accept? I'm thinking the 2016 class may be a little deeper so even 2.10-12 is decent value for him. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I get:
Year 2016 Round 2 Draft Pick, most likely a late 2nd since he still has a team that can win in 2015

I give:
Kendricks, Mychal PHI LB

Tackle heavy league: 1pt Tackle, .5 assist, 3pt sacks, 1 pt tackle for loss, 3pt int

I'd do that. Your depth is good, Kendricks has an uncertain future since the Eagles don't seem to like him (and just drafted Hicks), and you can cash in on a decent enough draft pick.

Is D'Qwell Jackson likely to produce LB1 stats again next year ? He was #3 in our league last year and is on our waiver wire.

Sure, why not? He shouldn't be left on waivers unless your league is extremely shallow.

An owner approached me with interest in VJax, Steve Smith and Devonta Freeman. We start 3 DL now this year (Zealots league). So if I offer those 3 for JPP, is that too low to high?

Steve Smith was the highest scoring player for of my guys with 143. JPP scored 148 last year. Hopefully that sums up the scoring systems enough.

I think that's offering too much. Freeman hasn't lost that job yet.

It's good that he approached you to ask about the older WRs - if you can do fine without them, sell them while someone has interest. If he's lowballing you, hold on to VJax still.

I guess I'd offer the WRs for JPP and a 6th - see what he says.

(Always ask for a 6th in any trade)

I took the trade. Freeman was a key part because he has 3 RBs on his roster. I probably could've gotten a pick(s) and feel stupid now.

I was/am working on moving the 1.02 and I didn't want talks to shift back towards that with him.

There's your answer - Curry's the more valuable since Morgan is stuck competing against MLBs.

Eric Kendricks and Benardrick Mckinney both went undrafted somehow, only have room for one, who do I add?

What would the values be of the following LBs in 2016 rookie picks (5 rounds)

Lamur, Sio Moore, Keenan Robinson

16 teams w/ only 5IDPs

Can start up to 3LBs, 30 man rosters.

Scoring: TLK=1.5, SCK=2, AST=0.5, TFL=1.5, QBH=1, FF=3, FR=1, INT=4

Also, what would this scoring be considered? Tackle heavy?

That's tackle-heavy. Balanced is usually in the 3-4 to 1 ratio of big play to tackle.

The real answer is that they're worth whatever your league will pay for them, but I'd say that objectively, they're something like:

Lamur: Ask for a 5th, don't pay a pick for him

Moore: Ask for a 4th, be willing to pay a 4th or 5th

Robinson: Ask for a 3rd, be willing to pay a 4th

What are your thoughts on Jordan Hicks and Kwon Alexander for full IDP dynasty ?

40 man roster + 4 ps
i picked up Hicks in my rookie draft in the 5th round. the problem is there is a logjam at ILB there in Philly. Ryans, Alonso, Kendricks and now this kid. Ryans and Alonso are expected to stick around - if healthy - for the next year or two at least. That doesn't even include Marcus Smith who *could* be in the mix somehow. For me, that means Hicks is a long hold for dynasty. patience would be the watchword there.

12 Team Dynasty IDP league

My IDPS are

LB: J. Jenkins, D. Davis, E. Kendricks, A. Williamson, Z. Brown and K. Alexander

DE: C. Dunlap and Z. Ansah

SS: J. Cyprien, M. Burnett and C. Pryor.

What are your thoughts on Ramik Wilson?

Is he worth a stash?

Who else is on the waiver wire? Do you have a link to the league?

Christian Kirksey, Donald Butler, Bud Dupree, Justin Durant and Von Miller all available. I will send you link later.

Password protected league... weird.

I would definitely get Kirksey and Butler before Wilson. Without knowing your scoring or starting requirements, it's hard to compare ILBs to rush LBs, and it's hard to say whether a likely LB3 (Durant) is better for your team than an upside boom/bust guy.
