Very good friend is one of the people that deals/runs the room at the Wynn. I don't play cards - I only play Video Poker - win a lot - bummer is a lot of W-2s, but that isn't a bad tradeoff for a pocketful of cash.

Thanks man.Hes extremely aggressive from the times I've played with him and definitely has a "win the tournament or go out trying" attitutude, so you probably just caught him on a bluff or something and think he sucks. However his stats definitely don't suck....$229,337 prizes$188,500 profit$148 average buy in462% ROI
18% in the moneyOPR lists him as the second best tourney player on Full Tilt and the 13th best from any site.

Wow, maybe his style works better for tournaments. I looked up my notes on him. Played him at 1/2 six-handed. My notes say: "Donk. Overaggressive. Calling station. Bad bluffs. Loose raises from early. Raises 2-9 but K9s and calls to $30 from bb. Raises 2-7 utg 33, bet $16 flop Kxx up, $41 A turn, raises 70-124 all-in J river. Raises 2-9 65s mid calls to $35 oop. Raises 2-7 76os but and calls to $30.''
Obviously, he's a huge calling station. And that play with 33 was just horrible. There's no chance he has a better hand and no chance the other guy folds to $54 more with $134 of his money already in the middle.

Assani, what would you recommend as far as starting out level? I'm starting with approx. $400 and following Ferguson's three bankroll rules I saw:
1. Sit down at cash table with no more than 5% of BR...if get up to 10% of BR, must leave the table.
2. No SNG with more than 3% of BR
3. No MTT with more than 2% of BR
So with $400 I can sit down with $20 at a cash table. I'm thinking 1000 BB's for a level may be a good starting place? So $250 to start at .10/.25. If I fell to $100 I'd have to move to .05/.10 or should I consider starting at the .05/.10 level.
Am looking to just build steadily over a long period of time with a set of guidelines in place before I move between levels.

Ferguson's rules are solid. Is $400 your entire poker bankroll(meaning you'd quit for a while if you lost that rather than re-deposit)? If not, then I think you can play higher than $400 would indicate. Personally I'd take a few more risks than Ferguson and I think starting at $.1/$.25 is fine...just be willing to move down if you run bad to start. Hell I've even gone with an 8 buy in rule before(meaning I'd start at $.25/$.5 with $400) but I'd only do that for the low limits and once the games got tough I'd go up to a 15-20 buy in rule to move up.
Well, $427 technically. Was higher but I just withdrew and paid off some credit cards so for now the $427 is my bankroll for at least half the year so my goal is to continue playing with that. I don't think Ferguson had anything about the limits other than 5% at a cash table so my $20 would be fine I imagine at the .10/.25 table, would just have to look to move down if I started running bad right away which is one of my goals to focus on since previously my first move was to move up to win it back so I'm aiming to get away from doing that.

I know you asked Assani, but I thought I'd chime in here. If this is your entire BR, meaning you'd quit playing if you lost it, I'd go no less than 40BI's for a lvl. I'm a HUGE BR nit, but my risk of ruin is near zero. I find the deeper I am, the more I can play "my game" and not let any influence of the $$$ enter into any decision.But if you're willing to move down often, if need be, then 20 BI's is fine. Keep in mind that I obviously play higher than the micro limits and for anyone who can breathe and have a coherent thought, the micros (10NL-50NL) should be able to crush the games w/ little variance just playing very tight, ABC poker. I'd start at 25NL and once you get up to @ 800 or so, then start taking small shots and go from there.GL and remember to have fun!Zowned said:
