I think SNE is more guaranteed money. I think SNE is better money. With that said, its a lot of work. I actually enjoy playing tourneys and it doesn't feel like "work" at all to me. Thats basically the pros and cons of each. Really not sure what I want to do.Great job AF! I think you have to think about whether your EV in going for SNE is greater or less than your EV playing primarily in tournies and live cash games. That's a question that only you can answer.
Not sure if you have answered this but what is the NET PROFIT you will get for becoming SNE?I think SNE is more guaranteed money. I think SNE is better money. With that said, its a lot of work. I will make around $110K from bonuses. If I put in enough hands to reach SNE, I would EXPECT to make anywhere from $300K-$400K in cash game profit, but so far this year its been way less than that and its very possible that I set my goals too high. With tourneys its much harder to say. I would expect at least $100K per year, but I could see it ranging anywhere from losing on the year to making millions due to the huge variance of tourneys. Not sure if you have answered this but what is the NET PROFIT you will get for becoming SNE?I think SNE is more guaranteed money. Agreed 100%. This is a big reason why I'm debating things now.Not to discourage you but it's January 15th and you are already questioning whether SNE is worth the effort. You need to either commit to this or move on because you appear headed to the worst of both worlds....working at it until the point that you say f it 6 months down the road and you will not have the money but still feel tired from just grinding away.
Every 250K FPPs = $4000 bonus. I am currently Supernova, so I get 3.5 FPPs for every VPP I earn.So that means if I earn Supernova:Also, I've held back a bit but figure I ought to throw my 2 cents in now. While you say SNE is worth 110k, it really isn't. You will get SN status fairly easily. With that you get $X (depends on vpps but it should be at least 40k). That means the quest for SNE is really for an extra 70k, not 110k.
This is something I'm still not sure about(you need a large sample size to know for sure, and 2 weeks into the year just isn't big enough), but if you're right then I agree that I should make changes and take this into account. And it seems you feel your expected profit is greater by not grinding away at 16 tables but I'm not sure what you think that delta is.
Agreed, but to be honest with you, if I wasn't grinding poker, I'd be surfing the internet or playing basketball or watching tv....its not like theres a ton of productive things to do during the middle of the weekday when 99% of the people I know are at work. Then you have to put value on your time.
Agreed, and I'm very grateful to make what I do. With that said, I think you're underestimating the differences between SNE and SN.For many 40-50k is a year's salary and is hugely meaningful. But if you honestly expect to make 300k as SNE but if you settle for SN you only make 250k but have the freedom to play when you want, to me that would have to be worth it. But that's me.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to start playing more MTTs somehow. Maybe I'll just mix them in more often with my PLO8 sessions.I think a combo would help you stay sane.Maybe going all out for VPPs for a couple of weeks, banking a bunch more VPPs than usual, mixing in a tournament here and there. Then spend a week more casually playing for VPPs, but playing a lot more tournaments.
I'm not sure if I'm overestimating it or underestimating what you would qualify for otherwise. I actually thought you had like 500k last year but I guess not since you are detailing this out like that isn't given. Whatever that number is though, I would have to think it's north of 100k and SN. So that has to be the baseline. That was my only point. Oh and leisure time is worth a lot. The more you make, the more it is worth as well. There is nothing worse than not enjoying life.I get a $2000 bonus at 200K VPPs. Plus earning another 100K VPPs is worth $6400 more in those $4000 bonuses, so earning 200K VPPs is worth $14,800.
I get a $3000 bonus at 300K VPPs. Plus earning another 100K VPPs is worth $6400 more in those $4000 bonuses, so earning 300K VPPs is worth $24,200.
I get a $4000 bonus at 400K VPPs. Plus earning another 100K VPPs is worth $6400 more in those $4000 bonuses, so earning 400K VPPs is worth $34,600
I get a $5000 bonus at 500K VPPs. Plus earning another 100K VPPs is worth $6400 more in those $4000 bonuses, so earning 500K VPPs is worth $46,000.
I get a $6000 bonus at 600K VPPs. Plus earning another 100K VPPs is worth $6400 more in those $4000 bonuses, so earning 600K VPPs is worth $58,400.
I get a $8000 bonus at 800K VPPs. Plus earning another 200K VPPs is worth $12,800 more in those $4000 bonuses so earning 800K VPPs is worth $79,200.
At 1 million VPPs, I become SNE. I will get $12,800 more from those $4000 bonuses. I get free entry into the WCOOP, which I believe is $2600 value. I get two entries into major tourneys. The packages are worth around $12,000 each for these, so thats $24,000. Then I also will get my FPPs multiplied times 5 instead of 3.5 for the first 6 months of the following year. Obviously this is hard to quantify, but lets assume I earn 200K VPPs in the first 6 months of the following year. If I were just Supernova, that'd be 700K FPPs, but now it'd be 1,000,000 FPPs. Those 300K FPPs more are worth $4800 in those $4000 bonuses. So we'll add $12,800 + $2600 + $24,000 + $4800 to our previous total, and we find that earning SuperNova Elite is worth $123,400.
There are also bonsues at 1.25 million, 1.5 million, 1.75 million, 2 million, and even higher, but I don't think I have to worry about those.
With that said, I think you're underestimating the differences between SNE and SN.
This is the way to go, IMO.Yeah, I'm definitely going to start playing more MTTs somehow. Last year I made around 140K VPPs. Its tough to make them when you're playing MTTs and one or two high stakes tables only. With that said, you make a ton of great points for me to consider...thanks for the advice. Definitely still not sure what I want to do just yet.prefontaine said:I'm not sure if I'm overestimating it or underestimating what you would qualify for otherwise. Damn! Sorry to get your hopes up, but at least this explains why I'm seeing the .5 now.Ah man...you got me excited, but when I checked 2p2 I found:I could be wrong, but I think they started doing that. At least, I noticed my FPPs have a half point last night.1. I'd advise keeping the old one.2. They'll send you email notices in advance. Maybe check the 2p2 Internet Poker forum frequently as well.Since this is really the only poker thread I read here Ill ask my questions here.
Im thinking about jumping into pokerstars.
1) I have an old account, can I start up a new one or change my screen name?
2) best way to deposit, get bonuses?
3) how to sign up for some kind of rakeback? worth it?
Anything else I need to consider?
Not really a question for assani, but for anyone.
Good luck with SNE AF!
3. Rakeback is only on FullTilt, but Stars has the FPP store which is just as good imo. It used to be not as good for low volume players, but they've said that sometime in Feb or March they're going to start awarding partial VPPs for each pot, which will make it just as good imo. And for high volume players like myself, its by far better than rakeback. Basically if you can achieve supernova or higher(Supernova elite) then its far greater than rakeback.
"No it's the same as it was before, you just know when you have half now.
Say you are Silver star, earning 1.5 FPPs/VPP. If you are at 94,415 FPPs and earn a VPP then you go to 94,416.5. Earning another would take you to 94,418. Before it would say 94,416 after that first VPP and jump to 94,418 after the second. Now it just tells you have 94,416.5, so it actually displays that you go up 1.5 FPPs for every VPP, which it didn't before even though it worked out that way. "
Maybe you should grind cash games during the week and focus on tourneys on the weekend (or at least Sundays when stars has all of the big NL Hold'em $215 tourneys).Yeah, I'm definitely going to start playing more MTTs somehow. I know this is a hijack on my part, but I really need to learn this and live it.Thanks for a new sig. There is nothing worse than not enjoying life.
yea I'm playing the $55 PLO, $88 4 max NLHE, $109 NLHE, and $109 rebuy NLHE right now, and I"m going to play the $162 NLHE when it starts in 20 minutes.
Tournies are your bread and butter.
