Astro Homers and Roto-geeks... (1 Viewer)

I'm not going to get into the details of how our keeper league works, but this is someone I am seriously considering targeting. I need steals in a big way, and this guys LOOKS like he could be a quality source of them in H-town this season. Where do you think he's going to hit? Will he run much? Will he reach first enough for it to matter how fast he is? Projections for steal totals?

He should lead off and has 50 SB potential. He won't hit for power though and an average above 280 would be very surprising. He'll run whenever he's on though.

Okay...I don't have my ESP working....but, Bourn is playing and leading off. If he gets on, he's running and scoring a lot of runs. But that's been the question throughout his minor/major league career...can he get on?

Astros are carrying 5 OF's. Pence and Lee are every day players. Darren Erstad will have a #4 OF role, and maybe Jose Cruz Jr? Either way, Erstad will get a few AB's here and there, but he is not in the future plans of the Astros. And the Astros pretty much traded away the farm this offseason, including Josh Anderson, who could have contended in ST for an every day role. As things stand, I expect 500+ AB's, 40+ steals, 90+ runs, and very few homers and rbi's. I'm thinking Dave Roberts lite here. I think the Astros are kicking themselves for giving up on Willy Tavares so early and want a young guy that can patrol center for 7-10 years and develop a knack for getting on base a lot and playing good defense. Bourn has this type of potential. Don't expect huge years, but he could be cheap speed/runs for the next few years at least.

Cool - I think those projections are pretty good. One thing I'm worried about is the possibility of Matsui hitting lead off. I don't see Bourn as a #2 hitter at all, and if he starts off slow, I can see him getting dropped to 8th in the line up. Thoughts about Matsui leading off?
