At the ER, ask me anything (1 Viewer)

morning analysis of the crime scene indicates the steak knife was pulled up and to the right - up, and to the right - which changed the angle of the business end of blade. instead of coming through the initial cut, the magic knife 🔪 traveled ⬆️ and then to the ➡️, carving out a new cavity in the apple 🍏 as it exited. as it did so, the knife ran across my left forefinger, creating a wound which required two interior stitches and six exterior stitches to close. the problem wasn’t the grip - clumsy as it was - but rather the knife failed to take the path of least resistance.

that, ladies and gentlemen, is one magic steak knife.

Other than that, how was the parade Mrs. Kennedy?

The knife couldn't cut through the apple?  That's pretty hard core.
In the ER last night, a pregnant lady waddled in shouting

"Shouldn’t! Wouldn’t! Couldn’t! Didn’t! Can’t!"

The nurse came over and said "Calm down, don't worry."

“Those are just contractions.”

Dad jokes?  They must have given you some righteous chronic.

Just wanted to update you that after I like Yandek post he sent me a DM asking to follow his personal and CYInterview accounts. I was honored to be follower #1000. Maybe a prize forthcoming for the milestone?

After a bad cut, I asked the ER nurse if I could do my own stitches.

She said, “Suture self.”

Cleaned up the wound & chipped off the dried blood tonight. I’ve bumped it lightly a couple times & boy does that smart. Added a bunch of gauze tonight for cushion.

Getting the stitches out in 5 days. Hoping I’ll get the ER nurses digits, she was kinda wholesome cute in a GND way.

Dude1: Hey Bro

Dude2: Wassup bruh

Dude1: Bro could you please hand me that pamphlet?

Dude2: Brochure!

Got the 6 exterior stitches removed a few days ago. Went in the wrong day, missed me the cute nurse. Three doctors looked at my hand before one of them decided to do the job. No idea. For 4 or 5 of the stitches I felt nothing - wouldn’t have know how many were done if he wasn’t doing a play by play. But when he got to the one side - the same side I needed an extra local when I was getting closed up - OH YOW felt that one! He thought that was pretty funny. Told me they probably put the stitch right through a nerve. Neat-o.

My entire fingertip - the wound is roughly 1/3rd of the way up the last joint - has little to no feeling. Even the front side by the nail feels numb. Apparently we have 10K nerve endings per sq mm in the tips of our fingers. Although eventually it will start to regenerate, the nerves will stay in their present “resting” state for another 3-4 weeks before they start to form again. No way of knowing rn if I’ll have normal feeling.

I already have a messed up index finger from an industrial accident when I was 18 (stop reading if you are squeamish...I pulled the last joint off the bone, and lost about 1/3rd of one side after it was reattached.) Anyway, going to be interesting to see what kind of adjustments I’ll have to make to my golf grip next spring.
