At what age should baths with a parent stop? UPDATE in Post 368 (2 Viewers)

Stopped taking baths at like2-3, still take showers with them at 5/7 because they suck at washing their hair.
Dude that's weird
Not really .
7 is weird unless it's after the beach or something along those lines. I stand outside the shower and wash their hair
I do this about half the time. Not weird at all, I guess you guys must have some personal issues creating doubt?

When I do it it is for practical reasons as much as anything else. Older son with scalp issue requires serious shampooing, and then there is time.

Me in the shower = 5 minutes in and out both combined.

Without me = 30 minutes +.

Still shower occasionally with our 3 year old. Usually it's me taking mine and the kid runs into the bathroom, takes off his clothes and wants in.
Lock the door or saying No not logical options?
Why? What's the big deal?
Yeah, I don't see what the big deal is about having your junk flopping around in your kids face. Some people are just so uptight.
What kind of FBG showers in a bath tub? My shower could fit five people . It's not like we are jammed up next to each other.

honestly thought this would be like 75% plus that did this. Especially taking significant other in consideration.

it's a pretty good bonding experience and a fun time. maybe give it a try?

i am the least germophobe around but maybe since my kids have their own bath... dunno i can wash my kids fine out of the tub

I took a bath with a mom not too long ago. I guarantee you her kids would have a problem with it if they found out about it.

I know this has nothing to do with the thread but I couldn't find the "Post things you are proud of in here" thread.

i have a 2.5 year old and a 5 month old. Taking a bath with one or both of them is a highlight of my time with them. What the help are you guys afraid of?
Zero surprise you're one of these people.
:goodposting:

I work with a guy whose nearly 4 year old daughter still comes in and sleeps in their bed every morning at like 3 AM.(along with their 1 year old and a small dog) I think its unbelievably weird and would find it PAINFULLY annoying. The fact that the one year old sleeps in there for the entire night every night is puzzling for obvious reasons.

I don't see any reason to ever get in a bath tub with my kids (if I had any). Very odd.

Lock - not really. The usually wife gets ready while I'm in the shower and needs access to the bathroom.

I could say no, but really I don't mind. It only happens once or twice a week, and it's not a big deal. I'd feel differently if he was a girl or tried to shower with mom.

When do kids generally move from baths to showers?
We have 4

First - 6 or 7, he just didn't like baths.

Second - was 50/50 until this year, he's 8. This was our encouraging him to shower so his younger brothers could use the bath. He'd probably still take a bath if time and space weren't issues prompting the move to showers. Now that the bath is open, showering is his choice.

Third - moved to showers this year, he's 5

Fourth - moved to showers same time as the 5 year old, he's 3; they shower together, it's a time issue with 4 taking showers, two showers, and usually 30 minutes or less to get it done.

So about 3 feet between your junk and your kids face?

not one thing in this response makes a single ounce of sense.

do your kids breastfeed into their teenage years too, or what?

I was in the shower at the Y and a guy comes in with his little two year old daughter. 8 other bare assed naked dudes are like WTF?? Someone politely let him know there's a family shower down the hall. He said thanks and continued his shower while the little girl stared at all the sausages.

If you don't think showering with a 7 year old will create issues for him/her in the future I feel bad for the both of you.

They can wipe their own ### they can wash their own hair.

I don't have any kids, but there are some people very uncomfortable with their bodies and their impulses around here. As long as you're not trying to #### your kids, what's the big deal with making sure they clean themselves properly until they get to the point where they can handle it themselves? It's weirder to find it weird. These are your children. I think this is a uniquely American thing to be so freaked out by bodies.

Report back when you have a 7 year old girl in the shower with you. And I love my body.

This. Unless you have T-rex arms, you should be fully capable of bathing your child from outside the tub.

no. my oldest breast fed until he was 1. why do you associate bathing with a small child and teenage breast feeding?

Because you're not cutting the umbilical cord.

Do you really have a 5 month old sleep in the bed with you?

I don't have kids, but if I did they would be extremely attractive people. And if I had a hot daughter... well, I can't make any promises about bath time.
