pretty cool way to win a championshipNot that anyone cares, but I have Brees and Sproles going, and that TD puts me up by one point.i'm going to win my league, but had i started sproles instead of cj spiller, that td would have been the difference. would have been kinda cool, but i probably would have had a heart attack before it ever happened.![]()
You'll get'em next year big guy.Wow the Saints wouldn't wait 1 more week for 30 more yards ?Now I need a miracle 6.2 PPR garbage points for Julio JonesCOME ON JULIO
It's not a popular position here, but I agree with you. I don't like running up the score. The purpose of the game is to win-- not humiliate your opponent. You gain nothing by doing it.That being said, this is an exception-- a significant record on Monday Night Football. I don't believe in running up the score, but I have no problem with this.I am real. It's cheap and low.Kind of weak thinking running up the score exists in professional sports.People came to the stadium to see their team play their hearts out for 4 quarters. Get real.Kind of weak forcing the record there while running up the score.
This isn't the place for this argument, but it's simple: A win where you humiliate your opponent is NOT a better win than just winning. It doesn't count more, you gain nothing and it serves no purpose. This is one of the few negatives of fantasy football. It creates shadow games that make it easier to lose sight of the real game. But as much as I dislike running up the score, I have no problem with it in this instance. The circumstances dictated scoring to get the record this week.I don't understand what's wrong with running up the score if you want to. If you don't want to give up 50, play some D. Why shouldn't teams try all the time? Because another team is pathetic?
I think the NFL and its sponsors made a lot of money in the 4th quarter of tonight's game. Pretty sure they weren't rooting for Brees to take a knee on every snap. It's not a popular position here, but I agree with you. I don't like running up the score. The purpose of the game is to win-- not humiliate your opponent. You gain nothing by doing it.
It's a shame that they're paid millions of dollars, had the division title on the line and still need stuff like this for motivation.I think it was stupid for the Saints to run it up. You beat a division opponent for the 2nd time. Oh...and you may very well play them again here real soon. Why give them the ammunition?
Put me up 3, and won me the title. All Hail Brees. Not that anyone cares, but I have Brees and Sproles going, and that TD puts me up by one point.i'm going to win my league, but had i started sproles instead of cj spiller, that td would have been the difference. would have been kinda cool, but i probably would have had a heart attack before it ever happened.![]()
No Dez, It was much more meaningful to get the record on a Monday night with the whole world watching him do it against a playoff caliber Atlanta Falcons team. Any HOF Quarterback would have done the same thing. Even Dan Marino if he were able tWow the Saints wouldn't wait 1 more week for 30 more yards ?
because they are not scared of the Falcons. They have won 10 of the last 12 games played against Atlanta.I think it was stupid for the Saints to run it up. You beat a division opponent for the 2nd time. Oh...and you may very well play them again here real soon. Why give them the ammunition?
I also think the biggest issue was getting it out of the way to avoid a week of distractions. No Dez, It was much more meaningful to get the record on a Monday night with the whole world watching him do it against a playoff caliber Atlanta Falcons team. Also if they want to they can give Brees a week off with that business out of the way. (They wont though)I also think the biggest issue was getting it out of the way to avoid a week of distractions. No Dez, It was much more meaningful to get the record on a Monday night with the whole world watching him do it against a playoff caliber Atlanta Falcons team. I'm pretty sure Atlanta and New Orleans don't need any extra ammunition to play hard against each other in the playoffs.I think it was stupid for the Saints to run it up. You beat a division opponent for the 2nd time. Oh...and you may very well play them again here real soon. Why give them the ammunition?
This wasn't a garden-variety case of running up the score. This was the Saints helping Drew Brees break a record in front of the home fans. The Falcons are a supposed playoff team. If they were serious about being a playoff team, then they still would have been in the game in the 4th quarter, instead of hoping that the Saints would run out the clock and end their misery.I think it was stupid for the Saints to run it up. You beat a division opponent for the 2nd time. Oh...and you may very well play them again here real soon. Why give them the ammunition?
I've been to this game in Atlanta. Easily the best tailgating I've ever done at an NFL game. One positive thing among many to come out of this is that nationally the fans and the media seem to be aware of what has been one of the leagues most heated and best rivalries for 40 years now:Saints vs Falcons. It's always like this.
Ammunition?I think it was stupid for the Saints to run it up. You beat a division opponent for the 2nd time. Oh...and you may very well play them again here real soon. Why give them the ammunition?
