Have any other nba owners or players applauded this move as a positive step to remove racists from nba ownership?

Please provide your proof that Levenson is racist. Most people seem to agree that Levenson's email doesn't meet the burden of him being labeled a racist.

ATLANTA -- The fallout from racially charged comments by Atlanta Hawks' leadership continued on Tuesday as general manager Danny Ferry was disciplined for making inflammatory remarks about Luol Deng.

Hawks CEO Steve Koonin has imposed undisclosed discipline on Ferry for comments the GM made to the ownership group in June when the team pursued Deng as a free agent.

Atlanta media outlets obtained a letter Monday night from Hawks co-owner Michael Gearon Jr. which cites Ferry telling the ownership group that Deng "has a little African in him."

Gearon's letter on June 12 to co-owner Bruce Levenson said Ferry went on to say, "Not in a bad way, but he's like a guy who would have a nice store out front and sell you counterfeit stuff out of the back."

Added Gearon: "Ferry completed the racial slur by describing the player (and impliedly all persons of African descent) as a two-faced liar and cheat."

This "clarifying" report is itself pretty vague and tough to understand. What does a background report that Danny Ferry read have to do with Levenson's email from two years ago?

Sounds like Ferry was reading a scouting report to the staff....the scouting report contained some kind of racist language....one of the staff members was upset by what Ferry said and demanded a full investigation....and the full investigation turned up Levenson's email from two years earlier.

edit: Ferry's report said "he's not perfect. He's got some African in him."

My understanding was that Ferry did not author the report, but was just reading it verbatim from some scouting sources - potentially not even with the Hawks
