Fascinating site, I'd never heard of it either, and I'm highly intrigued about how to contribute and the logistics of collaborations. Plus I just found terrific covers of Yes and Maroon 5 with 10 seconds of searching. Awesome! Thanks, bb!
and am more used to collaborating as a guitarist. (I also had no idea how to just pick up and join a band although you were quite correct that it isn't very difficult, particularly in Los Angeles!) I can also play keyboards but there will be someone better than me for that role for sure. I'm qualified for backing vocals.

The bandhub model is fascinating. I'm still not entirely clear on how the people get together; some of the covers I listened to (I didn't check out any original music) were apparently the product of sort of a Wikipedia-type situation with people pitching in with parts that they knew/could play in an open-source-type environment, while other collaborations seemed to have been planned in advance.
I did! It isn't a live performance-type collaboration, though, so I'm still on the prowl for something like that, like what you do. We get together a few times a year at home studios/garages/whatever and record, and the project, which is simply a labor of love, has yielded some really interesting musical results. I came in hoping for something like Maroon 5 (first two or three albums rather than the more recent stuff) and it turned into more of a psychedelic jazz-influenced thing with three-part vocals. It's interesting. Schedules prevent any forays into live shows, though, so I think the keyboardist and I would have to do a side project for that, and find a lead vocalist.
