Back Pain (1 Viewer)

This morning, I woke up and had an immense amount of back pain. It's not centered in any one spot and it even hurts to breath. Any kind of movement causes significant pain throughout my back.

Over the previous few days, I have not any strenuous activities like lifting, exercising, or any other awkward moments, and when I went to bed last night, everything was fine.

I went to the doctor this morning, and they just gave me muscle relaxers and pain medication, but this will only dull the pain, not resolve anything. They want me to come for an MRI early next week if there is no improvement over the next few days.

I do have bad allergies this time of year that has me sneezing often. Could sneezing have messed my back up?

Anyone else ever experience anything like this? How long will this last?

this sucks.

Sneezing absolutly could. Keep moving and stretching. Laying down is the worst thing you can do... assuming of course it is just muscle pain and not something serious.

Really need to stretch. Had a car accident 13 years ago that resulted in back spasms. My PT said it was compounded with the fact that my quads and hip flexors were tight as ####.

This stretch really helped.

Ice bags are good for short term relief. I've bought a few of these from Walmart. They're cheap, hold a full tray of ice cubs, don't leak and just work great.

For stretching the pretzel stretch helps me the most but it really depends on where your back is hurting.

If it hurts to breathe, it sounds like you have a rib out or jammed in a facet joint. But since you say the pain is non specific and hurts all over, it's probably ball cancer.

The bolded is key, as well as what the cause is: disc, muscle, etc. And twisting stretches can help, but should be done carefully as it can mess up with discs.

Absolutely, but you would know it. I've sneezed so hard that it caused my back to go out and I almost went to my knees immediately. I've also had my back correctly adjust after a sneeze, so it can go both ways

First time I put my back out, it was from moving a few old monitors (15" CRTs). Not heavy, didn't break a sweat or anything but was a lot of bending and lifting. Didn't feel anything till a couple days when my back slowly started getting tighter and tighter. Woke up in the middle of the night when the spasms hit. Scared the #### out of my wife.

Moral: it doesn't always happen right away.

what the hell does having a "rib out" mean? Would google but i am afraid of the results that may show up.
