Back to power running game for DMAC during bye? (1 Viewer)

Will the Raiders go back to the style of running that made dmac a stud (when healthy)? you gotta love idiot stubborn coaches and their inability to identify when a change needs to be made.

One can only hope. I'm an Eagles fan (which gives me insight into the "stubborn coach who won't change" bit) but hopefully some of the Raider dudes will check.

It is painful to see these stat lines week after week. No consistency.

He's been consistently bad. You take away a 60 yd run against the Steelers and his rushing stats through 4 games are abysmal.

Sadly, I don't see it happening.

Maybe the coaching staff sees something that I'm missing as a casual observer, but I don't understand why they wouldn't do more to get their best player involved. Even if it doesn't involve changing the scheme, they could get him involved in the screen game to try to get him into space.

They obviously did that in week one to limited success, but they abandoned it after one game. Mcfadden is barely being used in the screen game at this point.

He's on my bench (behind Lynch and Murray) until I see the staff do more to get him involved...of I see him running better in the zone blocking scheme.

Bob Wylie talked about this a few weeks ago in an interview (he was formerly on thier staff as an o-line coach..retired now I believe). In a nutshell, he said that DMAC isn't fitting their system because he is not patient enough. He gave an example that was basically a flat out prediction of that big run he had last week. He described it as the ocassional play where he will get out into space but said that will be far and few between until he learns to slow down and exercise patience until he get to that point where he should turn it on. He says Micahel Bush was alway much better in that system. So, in general, Its not the coaches failing to do it right; its DMAC. Of course, you can make the argument that a good coach should adapt their system to fit the skills of their players but there are many more Shanahans than not in the NFL that want it done THEIR way. And, hey, its their career. Let them sink or swim the way they want to. Until DMAC changes, this won't change because a team isn't going to scrap their offensive scheme in the middle of the season. DMAC needs to be more patient and so do his owners.

When I look at the team in your sig, I can't find one player who has been consistent for the first 4 weeks of the season. Not just McFadden.
Harvin's been pretty consistent
Consistently boring....unless you get receiving yards which most leagues don't give.
Guess I'm lucky that I play in leagues where yards count? Harvin is awesome and one of the most consistent players in the nfl in ppr leagues. I don't know how anyone could consider him boring either, he is my favorite non-panther to watch.

My apoligies because I meant "return" yards.I was talking standard scoring, not ppr. Who cares about exciting to watch? FF is just numbers and Harvin's are somewhat boring in standard scoring leagues.

I care about exciting, because I enjoy watching football :)I ly play in ppr leagues, so I can't speak to much about non-ppr. In ppr he is a beast.

The Broncos based their entire Week 4 defensive gameplan around stopping Darren McFadden. In his previous three games against the Broncos, McFadden rushed 58 times for 434 yards (7.48 YPC) and three touchdowns. They were determined not to let that happen again. "He was the point of emphasis the whole week, and I thought we took care of it for the most part," LB Keith Brooking said. McFadden is averaging just 3.52 yards per carry as the Raiders head into their bye. He came into this season averaging 4.75 yards per carry for his career, leaving plenty of "buy low" appeal.

Err...like running lots of concepts from Baylor's playbook to make RG3 comfortable? I think you need another example.

I've been playing Fantasy football for over 20 years and have never played in a league that doesn't give points for receiving yards. Can't imagine playing in TD only leagues or even playing in a non PPR league anymore.

What link to any team source or beat writer is suggesting a change from the current ZBS? Where is this thread even offering any kind of news item to consider or have an inkling that a change is on the horizon. To me, this is a disguised Darren McFadden venting thread. And I'm no board cop, but if this gets locked, I'd not be surprised.

:goodposting: shanahan is putting his best player in a position to succeed. http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/36841/back-to-school-how-mike-shanahan-is-using-rg3s-college-offense-with-the-redskinsif you're talking about zone blocking, helu not getting time and rotating rbs, his way with seemingly dozens of interchangeable rbs producing has worked out pretty well.

Raiders passing game has been horrible. I put McFadden in the same bucket as Doug Martin TB- there's just not a lot around him yet to make defenses focus elsewhere.

I keep seeing quotes from the coaching staff saying they will get him involved- even in the passing game- but it's not like he has brick hands. That bothers me more. SD was a good defense in week 1 and they still found a way to get him involved- not so much since then.

coaches rarely change their core philosophy. the thing us fans don't get is there is usually a reason for their stubbornness. most coaches don't get to where they are by changing what they think. the reason being that coaches that build around star players usually fail once the star player is gone. of course the coaches that succeed can make their system better by incorporating their star's strengths.
