Backing up your studs for the playoffs - McNabb going forward (1 Viewer)

I've been riding McNabb for a few weeks to a good record and I'm starting to get a bit concerned about his production during the last few games of the season if Phili keeps playing like they do. If he sustains such high play, I'll be a lock for the playoffs, but it spells trouble if Philly keeps winning because he'll sit most of the last few games. It's time to start thinking/looking ahead for those games and his bye in week 9. I looked at who might be available currently and looked at how well they'd fit the situation.

Figured it'd be good to get a dialogue of McNabb owners about how they're preparing for the end of the season and their probably playoff games.

JP Losman - Favorable WK 14, 15 and 16 of NY Jets, Miami, Tennessee. Has had tough matchups past couple weeks but schedule improves markedly over next few weeks. Bye week 8, after a few nice games he might be picked up by other teams in your league as a backup. I'm targetting him this week because next week they play detroit and I expect he'll put up pretty good numbers, catching the eye of others in the league.

Joey Harrington/Culpepper - Tough week 9 matchup vs Chicago, uncertain future regarding starters, but not a bad final 4 games, with weeks 14,15,16 vs NE, BUFF, NYJ

Jake Plummer - Tough final 4 schedule though week 9 isn't that bad even if it is pitt. WKs 14,15,16 against SD, Arizona and Cincinnati

Philip Rivers - Unfavorable final 3 games. 14,15, 16 vs Denver, KC, and Seattle.

Is it too early to start looking towards the playoffs? What is generally your strategy towards preparing backups for studs during the playoffs.

I wouldn't worry about it at this point, as I imagine Philly will be fighting for anything ranging from the Wild Card to a first round bye over the last few weeks of the season. As good as their start has been, I don't think they're going to run away and hide from the rest of their division like the Bears in the NFC North or Indy in the AFC South.

That said, it never hurts to be prepared.

The only teams who will have good enough records to rest players will be the Bears & Colts. Philly may win the East, but it will not be wrapped up by Week 14-15.

Homefield Advantage. With the Bears playing like they are, and the Seahawks in a pretty soft West, the Eagles can't let up. They want the road to the Superbowl to go through the Linc. McNabb vs. TO on Christmas Day. I don't think he's going to want to sit for that..... :DI just hope my team is still around to watch this Christmas miracle... :banned:

Eagles already have a home field loss in their division. The NFC East is going to be strong. I doubt anyone will clinch real early.

Nov. 26th @ Indianapolis

Dec. 4th vs Carolina

Dec. 10th @ Washington

Dec. 17th @ NY Giants

Dec. 25th @ Dallas

the eagles won't wrap up the division early enough to not have these games be huge impact on there playoff hopes

the schedule maker must have been a friend of TOs because he wasnt very friendly to the birds giving them 3 straight div game on the road to end the seasonas optimistic as the birds have made me this year...that schedule makes me feel like they are gonna come up just short of the playoffs
