Backup QBs? (1 Viewer)

We know Andy Reid loves having a bachup QB with starting ability, Vick for mcNabb, Kolb for Vick, and now Young for Vick. (Although i'm not so sure about Kolb).

But the question is, what is your value to having a better than good backup QB, and are they worth the money they cost?...and has the importance to have a good backup changed?

12 teams had ONE QB start all their games, 11 teams had 3 QBs start a game last season.

Vick and Kolb were cheap. VY costs $5.5 million but with Vick you almost have to have a good backup. If he had Peyton Manning he probably wouldn't have worried about it.

The Eagles are set to make a Super Bowl run, a significant injury to Vick would have destroyed the team.

what were the records of the teams who started one, two and 3+ QBs?

Mike McCarthy hinted that with the concussion rules as they are, you need one because the likelihood that your QB starts all 16 games is lower than ever. This is why Matt Flynn is staying put even though there is a market for him.

IIRC the correlation between playoff teams and QBs with 14+ starts with those teams is quite high. Don't have time to look it up but I think 2009 and 2010 were way up there.

ETA Pitt had Big Ben suspended...so he's an exception
