Backup to T. Henry (1 Viewer)

Who's backing up Henry? I've read conflicting reports saying it's between Bell and Sapp, but now can't find anything. I'm a Henry owner and am trying to trade the Westbrook owner Buckhalter for Mike Bell (I own Sapp) and he won't believe me when I tell him Sapp is backing up. Thinking he'll pull the trigger when he sees Bell is the third option.

Bell will be #2. He didn't play in the last game due to a hip injury, but he has returned to practice. Sorry that's not the answer you wanted.

EDIT - apparently that's not universally assumed. I just looked at Dodds' projections and Sapp has 70 carries while Bell has 55. I'm still counting on Bell being #2.

I assume it will be Bell too, but I have been picking up Sapp very late in almost every league I am in. Seems like a strong value play.....you never know.

Bell is the #2 and he is incredibly undervalued right now...snagged him in the staff/MB auction draft for 3 bucks.

It's amazing what a minor preseason injury can do to a player's value...god bless these preseason injuries.

If the Westbrook owner is smart, he will be keeping Mike Bell.

right, which is why i'm trying to come at him with some hard evidence making it look like Bell is of little value to him.

with the Henry thread going strong on page one figured this was a good bump for people drafting him

Sapp is listed as RB2 on the Broncos official depth chart, but I wouldn't trust that as Shanny is known to play motivational games. Brandon Stokley is listed as WR2 and a starter, as well, yet reports seem to indicate that Brandon Marshall has reasserted himself.

Right. If I put a gun to your head and asked who would have more yards form scrimmage this year Bell or Sapp, you'd say Bell.

I could have sworn that Bell passed Sapp on the official depth chart sometime during the middle of training camp. Maybe it was just Bell taking over duties with the 2nd team offense though.

He probably would and that's why I'm looking to get Bell as my backup, but I'm trying to "dupe" a buddy here - where's this depth chart he speaks of?I already planted the seed at my draft by fake laughing when the kid took Bell in like the 11th (went i was pissed inside because i thought he'd last back to me that round) and announcing in the 17th when I drafted Sapp that "I was getting Henry's actual backup." Then after the draft I told the kid I'd still give him CBuck for Bell so I could play it safe and he said he'd think about it. Evidence of a depth chart would put him over the edge IMO.

He did until he got hurt... when both are 100%... its Bell all the way.

GB the debate being over the backup rb this year and not the starter.

Doesn't matter who's listed now. If Henry goes down, Sapp & Bell will both get plenty of reps until one clearly outperforms the others.

What kind of owner listens to the person he is trading with to get player information.

In fact I just cut Sapp after reading this article...

Mike Bell became the No. 2 running back for the Denver Broncos on Thursday, which puts him ahead of Cecil Sapp, who had been running with the second unit. Sapp now is splitting the third-team reps with Andre Hall. Bell feels he is a much improved runner this year. "The coaches are constantly harping that I have the skills, but I have to be patient," said Bell. "This year, I'm able to understand the concept of the offense and get in the flow. A lot of it has to do with watching Travis run amok. He's done such a great job at it, it's helping me and the other backs as well."

:lmao:

It's going to be Mike Bell who had about 500 yds rushing last year and gained invaluable gametime pairing with Tatum Bell. Sapp will be the #3, and I expect Mike Bell to get some playing time throughout the season.

Well, I looked hard but couldn't find much. Figured the strategy here was to secure Bell anyways and take the whole DEN RB approach to the season.

So, I traded Welker and Buckhalter for Mike Bell and Brian Leonard.

Hated losing Welker (11th rounder in a 12 team league) here, but figured I'd have to pay for the backup DEN RB slot which seems to have similar round value.

Wow, 30 posts in and no SSOG. Also no Bloom. This is like the Twilight Zone. *DO do DO do DO do DO do*
I've pretty much avoided this thread because I don't see a lot of value in the Denver backup RB situation this year. I see a lot of flawed backs who probably would wind up platooning to cover for each others' glaring weaknesses, I see a lot of uncertainty, and I see a great chance that it's all a moot point, anyway. I've blown a 22nd round pick on Sapp in one of my drafts, but I've already cut him and replaced him with someone else.

Two weeks ago, Selvin Young was buried deep in the Broncos' depth chart. Now, he's primed to join the long list of out-of-nowhere running backs to make their mark in Denver. Injuries to starter Travis Henry (knee) and backup Mike Bell (hip) at Dallas two weeks ago opened the door for Young, and the undrafted free agent from the University of Texas burst right through it with dazzling performances in the final two exhibition games. Young again was singled out by coach Mike Shanahan after his 12-yard touchdown run in Denver's 21-3 win over Arizona in his final audition for a roster spot Thursday night. Bell returned from a hip injury a week earlier than expected but was moved to fullback along with Cecil Sapp against the Cardinals while Young started and shared snaps with Andre Ball, who scored twice.
