Bad Commish (1 Viewer)

I've been in this league for 2 years. I only came back as I had a crappy first year and wanted to leave on a high not.

There are monthly drama-queen festivals with 30 or 40 emails going back and forth and a hand full of guys getting into huge arguments. The commmisioner has never done anything about anything in the league. Finally the worst of him said he would quit. He's 2-6 and then trades Harvin and Mathews for James Jones, Kendall Hunter, Williams Powell and Boldin. The commish incredibly lets the trade go through. I guess there's nothing I can do and I just leave at the end of the year. I wish I could complain to MFL and have the commish removed in a perfect world. It's just been gross.

Usually - the more $$ you spend on the entry fee the better your Commish will be. Ya gotta have real skin in the game to expect everyone to take it with utmost seriousness.

I don't think that has much to do with the quality of a league. If anything my experience has been that more money just means people will go sink to lower depths to try to win it.I'd focus on finding a league with quality people, that removes owners who are not quality people. If you manage that, it's going to be a good league no matter the amount involved.

I am really talking about the Commish spot here vs the quality of the other players. Yeah but Greg unless you are talking about a homer league - how the heck do you determine if it is quality people? I have never played in a $250-$500 league where the Commish was not Johnny one the spot and followed the letter of the law with no grey area. Just too much $$ not to.

I'd never play in a league that high or without people I know. 100 is about my limit and we do it more for the fun than the actual $$

I think for commish and owners alike it is a lot like anything else involving people. You stick with people that you've got experience with... and if you have to go outside of that group for more people, then you get recommendations from people whose opinion you trust. But an important part is being willing to move on from those who aren't a quality owner. Which hopefully means removing 1 problem owner rather than finding most of a league is a problem league and you being the one that has to move on. But doing the latter if possible.Too many times leagues aren't willing to do anything about it. We see collusive trades come through here and all that many of those leagues do is vote on whether to not allow it... they seldom mention anything about confronting the owner that either his behavior has to change or he's not going to be allowed in the league anymore.
