Baltimore at Pittsburgh (1 Viewer)

Anyone have clarity on this? Seems weird to lose a TO to injury when the clock wasn't running. Logically that doesn't make any sense.
After the two-minute warning of a half, the following shall apply:
a) If a team has not used its three charged team timeouts, the team of the injured player will be charged a team timeout,
unless:
1) the injury is the result of a foul by an opponent;
2) the injury occurs during a down in which there is a change of possession, a successful field goal, or an attempted try

Article 4After the two-minute warning of a half, the following shall apply:

(ii) the injury occurs during a down in which there is a change of possession, a successful field goal,

I am not sure if we can recover to beat the Pats but that was about the best football game ever.   Imagine Haden and Shazier - dammit.

It is still fun even though the NFL cannot figure it out.

Was I seeing that Maclin play correctly? Got hit, dropped it, was mad at himself for dropping it & laid there...training staff came  out costing them a critical TO?

he couldn’t have been KTFO - he ran off the field. Looked like he was shaking off the trainer.

If that’s what happened, that’s the most selfish lack of game awareness play I’ve ever seen.

It's not illegal touching if you go out of bounds and never come back in. That's just called "out of bounds"
Yeah I posted that before they showed the other angle where it was clear he didn't make it back in.  From the first angle (when I posted) you could see him step out but it looked like he got back in before he caught it.

He did take a pretty good hit on the play.

Until like two plays later when a QB and coach that spend 12 hours a day on football didn't know that the clock was going to wind after they spotted the ball.

On the play that caused the sack/fumble the QB decided to get his Michael Vick on and outrun a defender. You can't make this up.

Thanks guys. Seems illogical to penalize a TO when the injury didn't save the team any time.

I have updated my predicted suspensions list:

Sean Davis - hitting too hard, taunting

Chris Moore - Excessive celebration

Alex Collins - Excessive engaged defensive contact

Danny Woodhead - Excessive use of sunscreen throughout the season

Joe Flacco - Being an idiot/dumb haircut

Antonio Brown - Unfair playing advantage

Roosevelt Nix/Patrick Ricard - Useless fantasy TD’s

Le’Veon Bell - Jumping over a defender and hurting his feelings

Tyvis Bowser - hitting too hard

Javon Hargrave - hitting a RB in the open field

Big Ben - Assaulting the defensive secondary

League office will be busy today for sure.

Seriously Pittsburgh defense might be the worst I have ever seen on a team with a 11-2 record
Steelers defense is really banged up.  The defense was the reason the Steelers were winning earlier this season when the offense was struggling.

Obviously they won't be getting Shazier back this season but Haden should be ready for the playoffs.  Mitchell has been playing on one ankle for a month, sitting him down for the Browns game + a bye would really help.

I'm not saying they're going to be a great defense but getting those two healthy will help

Matakevich has to be better than Spence right?  Hopefully his injury is only moinor

Baba Booey?

Matakevich is instinctual and a good tackler, but he doesn't have anywhere near Shazier's lateral speed.  That fleshed itself last night on end runs over and over.  Steelers are going to have to do something schematically, there aren't going to be any linebackers floating around with sub-4.4 speed they can plug in to replace #50.

Right - because when you pay a QB as much as Flacco it’s way too much to ask for him to throw the stupid ball out of bounds & save the clock. The Vick approach is much more sensible with ~10 seconds left, I agree.

I know but he didn't play last night.   Spence did.

What is it about the AFC North?  Seems like every team in that division chokes in the 4th quarter against the Steelers.
And single covers Antonio Brown because it shows how macho they are

Spence couldn't handle the assignment, but my point was that Matakevich, when healthy, is the primary backup to Shazier and is likely to be the starter for the rest of the season.  That can be exploited.

That WILL be exploited.  Ravens did it all game with those sweeps/stretches.  Spence, et al, couldnt get there on a bunch of them and when they did they missed a metric ton of tackles.

Maybe Matakevich makes more tackles if he can actually get his hands on a guy, but teams are going to go right at him in the passing game, and probably totally copy what Baltimore did with the outside runs.  Butler needs to come up with an answer for that somehow, because it wont be stopping.
