Baltimore @ New England Thread (1 Viewer)

Gronkowski is out for the playoffs after re-breaking his forearm, which will require surgery to fix. The Patriot's offense has plenty of weapons, but both his receiving and blocking will be missed.

I might be in the minority of Steeler fans here but , Let's go Ravens. My hate for the pats is too big, also they've never cheated for any of their wins so I'm rootin for the rat birds.Hopefully Ray Lewis has one more left in him, I also hope he can help them win the game.

So to get it straight: you hate a team because they videotaped defensive signals but you support Ray Lewis despite him having murdered two people?

Geez. I had to endure this stupid match-up last year... my two least favorite AFC teams and one is going to the Super Bowl. I could just root for the NFC team this year, but I don't like Jim Harbaugh either... so go Falcons

Thanks for stopping into the thread...

Both teams are improved from las year. It will be a battle and anyone's game. Of course the Pats have more pressure on them as the favorite and home team. Ravens will be playing loose and confident.

I love when Steeler fans talk about cheating.
exactly, we won't bring up Richard Rydze or any other softballs here...mainly because this thread is about Pats / Ravens.Special teams, Ravens have a significant edge. This should not be overlooked. I see the D's as about a wash, and the Pats with a significant O edge.

Yes. Lesser of 2 evils.
I'm rooting for the Ravens too, but for different reasons. I think your moral compass needs recalibrating.Unless I missed the sarcasm.

A 9.5 spread seems high considering that these two teams usually play close games. I'd take the Patriots to win the game outright, but the Ravens to cover the 9.5 spread.

The extra quarter plus of play on Saturday will hurt an older Ravens team next week. I expect a fairly similar game to the one we just saw against Houston. I think the line moves to at least 10.

Stealers are so desperate to cling to that 40 yr old legacy they're rooting for their biggest divisional rivals loooooooolThink you'd have gotten used to the new world order by now. This ain't your daddy's nfl anymore - they all use 'roids, now

baltimore wins this one. the football gods of retiring players demand it
So what happenes if the retiring future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis meets the retiring future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez in the Super Bowl?

I may not even watch the game if its Atlanta vs Baltimore. Good grief that would suck.

True, but the Ravens get the extra day of rest in comparison to the Pats. So it's probably a wash in the overall scheme of things.
I saw somewhere on Twitter that in the last two games, BAL D has had over 200 plays run against them. And you know Brady and the Pats are going to go super hurry up on them.

BAL can't fart hard near Brady without the zebras calling a penalty. NE wins...and it will be within the point spread for the first three and a half quarters...but a large garbage time TD puts it above the spread. Brady and the Refs win the battle against BAL.

I would take BAL on the points all day. But then again, I'm terrible at this, so you're safer going with NE.

Spread seems too high. The Patriots played maybe like a 7 out of 10 last night. They just happened to be playing a team that couldn't muster higher than a 4. That's a loooot of points.

I don't really disagree with this:In a sport that is predicated on mano y mano, ” lets hurry up n snap it ” = #####assness— Brendon Ayanbadejo (@brendon310) January 13, 2013
If it's such a ##### move, the manly Ayanbadejo should have no problem stopping it.
He did say their offense is good enough to succeed without it but I never understood this. It is well within the rules, heck Baltimore used a hurry up offense at times this year. It is almost like they are trying to bully them into changing it by calling it girly which is like middle school bullying type stuff. Either way, this whole fear of the new, innovative ideas is how you get behind in sports. Sabermetrics were probably a gimmick at one time. The pick and roll was probably a gimmick at one time.

Baltimore is the one team I didn't want the patriots to play. The patriots already lost gronkowski for the season, and it seems like the ravens knock out at least one offensive starter from their opponents every game. Pollard alone has done the jb against brady, welker and gronk in three separate games since 2008. Is it nice to get a home game? Sure. But this is the worst matchup for the pats in terms of their chances to win the superbowl. I also give a huge amount of credit to flacco and the ravens d, they not only showed the big play ability, but the hard hitting defense that put them on the map. They aren't the dominant defense they used to be, but they made some big stops especially late in the broncos game. And while the patriots d is much improved over last year, they are still very susceptible to the big play, as shown in the torrey smith game back in september. I don't think this is a gimme win for the patriots at all.

"Stay classy Baltimore".... I believe that is what they call an oxymoron. The very birth of this organization in Baltimore was a classless act.As a Pats fan I couldn't be happier with this. Keep up with the silly loser smack talk whining. Can't wait to see Brady stick it up Ayan's badejo next week. And it will likely be on a quick snap.
Get the f@&$ out of here!!! What would a patriots fan no about class when ya whole dynasty was built around spygate!? Aren't you the same team that brought a snowplow on the field in the middle of a game so ya kicker could have a clear spot. A patriots fan talking bout a oxymoron you're just a fing moron!!
Easy there HotMess. You might hurt yourself.
