Baltimore @ New England Thread (1 Viewer)

If the pats pull this out does it cement their legacy of the greatest team of all time? The belichick era pats, not specifically this year.
Not sure the 2001-2012 Patriots run would be as impressive as the 1981-1994 run of the 49ers that saw them win five Super Bowls, but it is a very impressive run no matter how you slice it. But the problem with touting a run that long is, it is over such a long period of time, that it really isn't the same team. Okay, Belichick and Brady are both still there, but is there any player besides Brady left from the 2001 team that won their first Super Bowl? The same applied to the 1994 49ers and 1981 49ers, two completely different teams.

The kickers in Sunday's AFC Championship Game between the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots better hope a trip to the Super Bowl doesn't hinge on a long field-goal attempt in the final moments. The winds are swirling in Foxboro, Mass.Winds whipped around Gillette Stadium at 18 miles per hour at 3 p.m. ET, and Weather.com forecasts gusts up to 36 mph. The Patriots tweeted a photo of the practice-field goalposts being bent in the wind. We'll see if the wind affects the passing game, but both quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Tom Brady like to drive the football. It's the kickers (and punt returners) that should be concerned.

Only BB and Brady remain from '01. Only 5 players won all 4 Montana SBs (Montana, Lott, Keena Turner and two others I forget, but SI ran a picture of them back then so this is why the number 5 stands out). By '94 I believe the roster turned over in its entirety.Great job by Baltimore, particularly going pass-heavy in the 2nd half and properly taking advantage of Talib's absence. Some of those Flacco throws were amazing, considering the windy conditions. Ravens played tight man coverage, using the wind as extra deep safeties, so the Pats needed to execute precisely on their short throws and couldn't. Game changed in the 3rd quarter when Welker dropped that 3rd down, Ravens scored, Woodhead's 3rd down conversion got nullified by Solder's holding, then Ravens scored again. Game ended after the Ridley fumble and ensuing Ravens TD.
