Baltimore: The Next Ferguson? (1 Viewer)

So when you have people slashing fire hoses of firemen and assaulting cops remind me why they can't be shot?

I like when the talking heads on CNN & the like preface their statements with "there is no excuse for violence", then proceed to make excuses for the rioters.

Rod Wheeler reporting on FOx that if the police don't get the situation under control in the next couple hours "the city is going to burn to the ground tonight". He's talking of gunshots being fired towards the police. Sounds very very bad right now.

To prevent more uprising. It's dumb reasoning, though. They should start mowing people down who pose a threat to others. That will calm things down quick. The problem is the rioters know the police won't do it.

This thread is terrible. Not ### bad as what's going on in Baltimore, but pretty damn awful.
I know, it is all these liberals who just dominate the political threads on this forum with their progressive leaning posts and ruin the discussion for everyone.
You are looking at the end result of liberal progressive mindset.
And I am also reminded you are alias who has never explained why you disappeared from this forum for a year. You are johnjohn, right?
Keep sticking your head in the sand and ignoring the result of your world view.
I can't quit ignoring that you are obviously an alias of someone who has been banned, which you have never denied even after being repeated asked about it.
Really? No I'm not an alias for someone who has been banned if you must know. But if it helps you sleep at night you can think I am.
And you starting posting after an absence for almost an entire year (from May 2014) for what reason again? Inquiring minds want to know...
I got a job where I could post online and get paid for it like everyone else here.

Don't look at me. Look at the world around you. Anybody who paid attention was could have seen what was coming. You guys are too busy playing catamite to team Obama to see what's right in front of your collective faces.
I'll take 10 race riots over a Republican President.

They need to get a camera on Rod Wheeler. All hell is breaking loose right now.

If you don't want to be looked at, then why bring this up? Obviously you patting yourself on the back for us is much more important than the world around you. Otherwise, you'd be out there doing something about it instead of jockeying that keyboard.

Exactly, after these cowards recover from getting knee capped (or dont) they won't be as quick to storm the hood next time. It's a free pass to break every law possible.

While we're bragging about being Nostradamus:

I predicted that no one would assassinate Obama because they all thought another racist would do it.

"Oh my gosh! It's not one fire, the firefighter on scene just told me it's FOUR fires! And I think it's because of the burning embers blowing around and catching other structures on fire! And now it's catching people's homes on fire!"
Amazing that in a city full of row houses fires might be spreading uncontrollably.
Damn that David Simon leaving all of his sets behind after production was done.
Hey, I think Simon and his little Marxian/labor/race fantasies are delusional. I don't think they help discussion at all. For him to come in and call for calm after endlessly ripping the police, political institutions and positive law is hopelessly naive, especially when he's done it so publicly and locally. I can disagree with typical leftism and say that a small segment (largely of the hipster white population) of the populace is whipped up by this political dilettante.

Also, I lived twenty-five minutes from B'More for five years, if you're getting at that I've only seen it from a television set or something. Untrue. I've spent more time in the abject worst places of Baltimore than most simply by having to go do quite a bit of library work and research work at the Enoch Pratt Free library for the better part of six months to a year.

ok but huge swing and a miss on more than you got right.

2. Recent economic figures showing improvement in employment immediately before the election will be revised downward substantially as the economy tips back into recession.

whiff

3. Inflation will become an ever increasing problem with continual quatitative easing from the Federal Reserve. Energy prices are especially hard hit as a result of the Obama administration's stringent environmental regulations and misallocation of resources into non-viable green programs.

whiff

4. Obamacare comes into effect but in spite of the claims of those who passed it healthcare costs continue to rise rapidly.

They rise rapidly regardless of obamacare

Then of course you totally missed on the stock market rocket to all time new highs making me richer than I have ever been.

Wisdom is there for those who seek it. Fools only see what they want. If you choose to wallow in your ignorance and refuse to learn from those who are correct in their perceptions that's your problem, not mine. I'm simply reemphasizing what turned out to be a very correct insight.

Healthcare costs are continuing to rise. As for economic matters, the world's relative decline has helped us a great deal as a shelter for wealth. I was aggressive in my timetable. Be patient.

The looters can now all get jobs rebuilding that city center so they have that going for them....which is nice.

:lmao: :lmao:

It's disgusting. Black people are fed up with how they believe the police treats them, and their response is to go burn buildings, rob businesses and attack cops.

Yeah....that'll prove them wrong.

Anyone that defends this is a fool.
yeah, black people. sheesh.
Missing the point.
yeah its me missing the point
Let me spell it out a little more clearly:A. Police view young black people as thugs causing trouble

B. Thugs causing trouble get treated poorly in piklce custody.

C. Since police treat the thugs poorly, eventually one gets seriously hurt or killed.

D. The black community goes into righteous outrage over the death of an "Innocent" (INSERT ENORMOUS SARCASM)

E. Calm cool head in the black community are drowned out while large numbers of other young black men loot, burn, and pillage.

F. Cops idea of young black men being thugs causing trouble is greatly re-enforced by young black men rioting.

G. Calmer minds insist the cops/system/government are at fault for not fixing A and by extension B, yet spend very little time aggressively addressing E.

How does E help solve A?

There is no excuse for rioting and it will NEVER help fix the problem.
Rioting and violent government protest has a place in this world. We saw it used effectively in the U.S. leading to independence, and in countries every year to protest/change/overthrow corrupt, evil regimes. Sometimes people are so oppressed that violence (aka Revolution as the ultimate goal) is a necessary, and only sometimes only means to instill change.Unfortunately, when the rioters/protesters/... get more air time for looting and property damage than their efforts to impact change do, it continues to perpetuate already existing stereotypes and racial/cultural biases, bringing us full circle to the place where these movements start.

Forget color, age, gender... Get 1000 protesters to form a sit-in in the Baltimore Police HQ for the next month. I guarantee a lot more would get accomplished than a couple days of hanging in the streets and looting your own town.

Sadly, leaders like MLK, DuBois, Douglass and Gandhi have been replaced by today's "headline" African-American leaders (only by name) like Jackson and Sharpeton. While I don't doubt there are tremendous Civil Eights leaders working hard today, the "faces" of today's movement are doing the cause no favors.

This FOX reporter is hysterical. Is he trying to broker a peace deal between the protesters and the cops?

Van Jones made a profound statement. "This one night will set Baltimore back 15 years." In terms of business.,.ones that will never return and new business that will never come, and banks that will never invest.

As a member of White America, I can now say that I have been informed that "(they're) tired of it, forreal forreal."

I live in Baltimore city. I ride my bike to work through downtown / inner harbor. I can hear sirens and helicopters right notre. This is definitely worse than I thought it would be.
