Baltimore: The Next Ferguson? (4 Viewers)

Curfew still in place despite no disturbance since Monday night. Such a civil rights trampling. I'm going to the curfew violation action in a white neighborhood. The goal is that the city will have to deal everywhere with everyone, not just poor black people. I'm 45, never been arrested in my life and don't want to now, but enough is enough. #Baltimoreuprising
So the best way to show you are worthy of not having a curfew is by violating a curfew? Ok.
In what America do I have to show I am "worthy" not to be subject to house arrest every night?

Baltimore is clearly not in a state of emergency, though this curfew might be on the verge of putting us back into one.

Well there's a cop here now. Will be interesting to see if he deals with it.Again the easy and smart thing to do would be leaving peaceful citizens alone

Then take it up with your Mayor and Police Chief. Just be sure not to usurp their black voices.

Police are staging in the 7-11 parking lot. Not gonna lie, it's scary to see the van that looks like the Freddie Gray van pull up

Yep. Argument from identity. Empiricism.

Snark. Should I go on about your performance in the thread?

Wait, Baltimore politics is dysfunctional? Man. Somebody should make a tv show about that.
Especially if they came from the delusional Marxian left. Then they could really identify the problems with Baltimore.
Marxian? Haven't heard that term in a long time.
Ask David Simon what ails Baltimore.

I'm not a Marxist in the sense that I don't think Marxism has a very specific clinical answer to what ails us economically. I think Marx was a much better diagnostician than he was a clinician. He was good at figuring out what was wrong or what could be wrong with capitalism if it wasn't attended to and much less credible when it comes to how you might solve that.

2nd warning just given to the White Guilt part of the rally. I like the response from the female protester. "How many more do we get?"

Thats an excellent analysis of Marx. Ayn Rand had the same problem. Much more effective as a critic than as a promoter of alternatives.

Haha this is falling apart fast. I'm drifting down the street away from the cops. Nobody wants to go to Central Booking alone

I don't think Marx and his scientific study of labor, prices, wages, etc. was an effective critic of capitalism.

I don't think SImon's diagnosis of labor is at all correct. But oh well.

eta* Forget effective. Bad phrasing. I meant accurate. He sure was effective.

It was a good critique of capitalism in Europe in 1840. It didn't take into account the growth of consumers.

The bad guys aren't one street punk from pimlico, it's six members of the city police dept.
You are aware you have a better chance of getting killed by lightning than killed by a cop? Just wondering.

Perhaps you should start rioting against the weather.

DAMN RACIST LIGHTNING!!!

Rich Lowry. Interesting op-ed. Blames Baltimore's governance, corruption, and policies for Baltimore's problems.

It really is the perfect case study for the disastrous effects that exclusive Liberal policies can have on a city. At some point a community and it's people have to look in the mirror.
I think someone in the past few days commented about being lazy and not wanting the truth.
