Baseball Fantasy Leagues Q (1 Viewer)

On my way to work tonight I was listening to an ESPN radio show about fantasy sports and most of the talk was about baseball.....so I have a question.....

what exactly is the common scoring system used for baseball? I don't follow baseball like I used to as a kid so it's not that I have interest in getting involved with fantasy baseball but I do have a follow up question IF it's what I think it is.

I know most football fantasy leagues have the basic scoring system where a RB runs for 125 yards he gets 12.5 pts and if he scored a TD, he gets usually 6 pts.....in hockey you get a pt for goals and a point for assists but for baseball? I know most have something to do with points accumulated over a week but exactly how does all this scoring work?

Please explain, but remember check back for my follow up question....thanks

What exactly does 5x5 mean?
There are 5 hitting categories, and 5 pitching categories. The hitting categories are (if using the standard) AVG, HR, R, RBI, SB. Pitching categories are W, SV, ERA, WHIP, K. You get points based on where your team finishes in the rankings of each category. If you finished first in all ten categories, you would have a perfect score of 120 (12 x 10). If you finished last in all categories, you'd get a 10 (10 x 1). It's harder to judge an individual players worth in a roto league than in a points based league. You have to look at players and say he can help me in runs, avg, and sb but will hurt my hr and rbi numbers. It's a trade off to get a balanced team.

First off WHY WAS THIS MOVED? This isn't officially a BASEBALL question. I assumed this was the case, so I ask, WHY DOESNT THIS VERSION of scoring for fantasy FOOTBALL work? When I got into fantasy football a looooooooooooong time ago, I used this type of scoring system but it died with the doodoo bird. :goodposting:
