Love the Yanks U94 right off the bat

Tough tough division, all the ARod stuff, older team in key spots

Also like the Dodgers O84.5

Very good all aorund team, Manny's back, they played great with him last year, pretty putrid division

Back ened of the rotation has some ??, but I thik 85 wins is very achievable

Like the over for the Dodgers, Diamondbacks and Twins plus the under for the Giants and the Yankees.

Always like the Yanks under. Cubs too, for that matter, although last year they burned me.

Just thinking value here...I like bounce-back and/or smaller market teams that languished of late. Like Cleveland, Milwaukee, Detroit, Oakland (without even looking at the totals, yet). Texas? Saw that Capella likes Texas -- that's probably a good line.

Conversely, probably the under with Philly. Boston under?

And how 'bout the Royals at a whopping 76 wins? Given their past, they are slated to win about 78 games? Wow. That tells me they'll probably be a great team to play throughout the season.

Just looked at the Padres. 72. Only the Pirates have a lower win total, GunZ.

Love the White Sox over 77 1/2. They've only failed to top 80 wins twice in the last 13 years.

ETA = :lmao:

That was one I thought looked low too. But not following the goings on, I just figured something must've happened to them. I took them last year and won.

The Astros probably won't win 86 again, but 73? Definitely like the over there.
If you guys get the time, explanations are always appreciated.
Houston won 86 games last year. Carlos Lee and Wandy Rodriguez missed significant time with injuries. Rodriguez and Hunter Pence could be looking at breakout seasons. J.R. Towles isn't going to bat .137 again. There weren't any real significant adds, but the most significant losses were the likes of Ty Wigginton and Randy Wolf. The back end of the rotation is a problem, but it was bad last year too. The Valverde-anchored pen is pretty decent. The Astros have some issues, but they're mediocre, not awful. 73 wins ties with Baltimore for the 5th-lowest total on the list. They're better than that.

NYY u97.5(-140) is available at BetUS

I hit it right when the Arod news came out 2 days ago and they haven't touched the line, not sure why but it's still sitting there.

:lmao: What he said about Houston. As for St. Louis, they also won 86 games last season. Their bullpen blew over 30 saves last season. Isringhausen is gone and late-inning roles are being defined for young hard-throwers like Motte and Perez, so it is unlikely that number will be that high again. Chris Carpenter is healthy, Wainwright is healthy, Pujols' elbow concerns are silenced, and they have a few budding offensive players like Mather and Rasmus that could add to an already potent offense. An O/U of 82 wins is basically saying they are a .500 team, I'm saying they are an improved team from 86-75 in 2008. Yanks will struggle without A-Rod. Aging vets like Matsui, Posada, Damon, etc. will be hard pressed to maintain a high level of production. Tex, CC, and Burnett will feel the weight of the world on their shoulders out of the gate. Tampa and Boston are damn good teams, leaving it highly unlikely there will be three 90+ win teams out there.ETA: With a healthy Bedard, King Felix, and a budding Brandon Morrow... I have a hunch the Mariners can win 75 games in the weak AL West this season.

I haven't sent anything in yet...but a few comments.

Houston - I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. Last year I had one significant play, St Louis under, and well, lost big  But my basic principle for win totals is the same, pitching, pitching, pitching. I hated St Louis's pitching last year, but they way overperformed, and got oustanding performance by over looked guys like Ryan Ludwick, Pujolas was healthy, etc... Look at the Astros pitching. Oswalt is still good, but he is no way near as dominant as he was a few years ago. Tons of innings on his arm now (200+ in 6 of the last 7 years) and he is not a big guy. Last year he actually bounced back from a poor 2007, but I have to say a decline is expected. After that, the Astros are throwing out there Wandy Rodriguez, Mike Hampton, Brian Moehler, Brandon Backe. None of these guys is under 30. You think Rodriguez is young, but he's not. And frankly none of these guys has much upside potential. Their bullpen is decent, but they have lost a lot back there. No longer do you see Qualls/Wheeler/Lidge running out there, no you have Sampson, LaTroy Hawins, Geoff Geary getting to Valverde? That's not great.

The Astros offense is okay, but in my opinion overrrated. Bourn can't get on base. Matsui is often injured. Tejada is in steep decline. Berkman, Lee & Pence are all good, but they are surrounded by a whole lot of nothing. And I wish I could say there were some youngsters ready to make an impact, but there's not.

The only thing the Astros have going for them is that they play in a division with the Reds and Pirates - but at least both of those teams have some good young talent and pitching.

I think the Astros should get to 75-80 wins, but an Oswalt groin problem, or Berkman hamstring and this team will struggle mightily.

Two overs I'm still considering are the Mariner's and Giants. I love the Mariner's and Giants starting pitching, I just worry a bit about their bullpens. The Mariner's offense is mediocre, and they do have young talents guys that can make an impact. Problem with the MAriner's is if they fall far back early, it may be all youngsters, a guy like Beltre is leaving after the season anyway, If Griffey has anything left in the tank, I think the Mariner's hang around for awhile.

And as much as I like the Giants starting rotation (and their bullpen has some live arms back there, they are just a bit too hittable for my liking), that offense is :goodposting: I dunno, I've seen some good rotations overcome lack of hitting.

I'll take the under on Toronto and the Reds
CWSox and Twins on the over are locks.
Let's hear why.
Both teams have gotten worse and both will get beat up in their own division. This isn't rocket surgery, people.
How have the Twins gotten worse? If anything their staff is better with another year of experience. Liriano, Slowey, Baker, Backburn and Perkins. Liriano is fully recovered, Slowey is a budding front of the rotation guy and Baker is solid. Blackburn will be average and if Perkins can do anything it is gravy. Detroit sucks and so does KC. Cleveland doesnt scare anybody.

He was talking about Toronto and the Reds.

PHI PHILLIES - 88½
I like the over here. The Phils' offense actually underachieved last year. If the offense returns to form and the pitching is anywhere close to what it was last year, I think they will win 94 or 95.

BOS RED SOX - 95 - No play. Boston should be great this season and this is a big number.

NY YANKEES - 94 - I'd go under big here. I always take the Janks under, but A-Rod will be shelved for quite a while (longer than they are saying).

TAM RAYS - 89½ - This is about right. If you put a gun to my head, I'd probably go over.

TOR BLUE JAYS - 79 - Under. Last place team easy.

BAL ORIOLES - 73 - I'm actually bullish on Ballmore. I'd take the over here. They have talent.

CLE INDIANS - 84½ - Big bounce back if VMart and Hafner are even decent, but this division is tight.

MIN TWINS - 83 - Who knows. Biggest mystery in baseball. I'd go for the over, but not love it.

DET TIGERS - 81½ - Have to be better. The pitching is still pretty suspect. Dontrelle is done. Verlander is better.

CHI WHITE SOX - 77½ - Similar to the Twins, a complete mystery.

KAN ROYALS - 76 - Much better team this year. Maybe 80 wins if they are lucky, though.

LOS ANGELS - 88½ - Great team, but Ervin going down is not a good sign.

OAK ATHLETICS - 82 - I don't have any idea how they win. Holliday will suffer. Under is more likely.

TEX RANGERS - 75 - They don't have a lick of pitching, and I mean none.

SEA MARINERS - 72½ - I actually like Felix, Bedard, and Morrow (well, as a closer). This number is probably about right. They'll be pretty bad.

NY METS - 89½ - Over. I like this team a lot, even though it has some holes. I'm assuming Johan is fine.

PHI PHILLIES - 88½ - About right. Over achieved mightily last year. Any staff with Moyer needs work.

ATL BRAVES - 84 - I don't know how this team continues to tread water. Should be a decent team, but 82 seems more appropriate to me.

FLA MARLINS - 75½ - Over. Over. Over. OVER.

WAS NATIONALS - 72 - Still pathetic. No relief in sight. I'd consider the under. Seriously. Probably the worst team in baseball.

CHI CUBS - 92 - Big fan of the Cubs this season. I think they cruise to this total and then some, but they are the Cubs.

STL CARDINALS - 82 - I love the offensive upgrades but everything hinges on Carpenter in my mind. I'd give the over a shot.

MIL BREWERS - 81 - Gallardo is an ace, but there is nothing in the way of pitching beyond that. I'd avoid.

CIN REDS - 79 - This actually looks like a pretty good team. Probably better than 79 wins.

HOU ASTROS - 73 - They don't have any pitching other than Roy Boy. Like, none. (Sorry, cos.. Wandy sucks)

PIT PIRATES - 69 - I have to think they can win more than 69. They have better pitching than Houston and some promising youth.

ARI DIAMONDBACKS - 85½ - Loads of offense. Should win the division, but 86 wins is far from a lock.

LOS DODGERS - 84½ - Is Manny that valuable? I really don't like this team.

SFO GIANTS - 80 - Way better this year, I think. I could see them even winning this division.

COL ROCKIES - 76½ - Could surprise. Plenty of hitting but who knows with their pitching. Lost some parts.

SDG PADRES - 72 - Godawful.
My favorites of these (in order of confidence):FLA over 75½

NYY under 94 (if you can still get it)

TOR under 79

CHC over 92

CIN over 79

BAL over 73

NYM over 89½

Indians over 84.5Nationals under 72

Devil Rays under 89.5

Dodgers over 84.5

A's over 82

Those are the five that stand out to me right now although the Cubs under 92 and the Giants under 80 are decent bets also IMO.

-125 is a little tough, but I don't think there's any conceivable way the Doyers don't clear 84 wins. They have the best offense in the division, the 2nd best starting pitching, the best bullpen, and the 2nd best defense.
