But my basic principle for win totals is the same, pitching, pitching, pitching. I hated St Louis's pitching last year, but they way overperformed, and got oustanding performance by over looked guys like Ryan Ludwick, Pujolas was healthy, etc... Look at the Astros pitching. Oswalt is still good, but he is no way near as dominant as he was a few years ago. Tons of innings on his arm now (200+ in 6 of the last 7 years) and he is not a big guy. Last year he actually bounced back from a poor 2007, but I have to say a decline is expected. After that, the Astros are throwing out there Wandy Rodriguez, Mike Hampton, Brian Moehler, Brandon Backe. None of these guys is under 30. You think Rodriguez is young, but he's not. And frankly none of these guys has much upside potential. Their bullpen is decent, but they have lost a lot back there. No longer do you see Qualls/Wheeler/Lidge running out there, no you have Sampson, LaTroy Hawins, Geoff Geary getting to Valverde? That's not great.
I dunno, I've seen some good rotations overcome lack of hitting.
