BassNBrew's Power Ratings (1 Viewer)

So you picked the best team to win.  What's the big deal?
Check out the time stamps homie.Bass n Brew and Harrier were quite prophetic.
yea but c'mon, have the pats ever not been the favorite to win the Super Bowl, even after losing to the steelers in the middle of the year?
I believe the Pats/Indy game was a pick 'em on NE's home field as recently as a week ago. Of the FBG's participating in my contest (Indy +2.5), 78 took Indy, 28 took NE.

I want to know what's prophetic about someone picking the defending champions, and a one loss team, to win the AFC title.  You're going to be right more often than not.
Then why were you arguing the opposite side if the Pats were the obvious choice. Why were the Steelers 1st in all most everyone else's power rankings when I started this thread? Obviously not quite the slam dunk you're making it out to be.
Because I am a die-hard Steeler fan. I have no problem admitting you guys were right about the outcome of the rematch, but to call it prohetic is stretching it a little, that's all. The Pats are a great team.No offense meant, BNB, and I certainly am not taking it personally. It just stings right now - as a Panthers fan, surely you understand how I feel at the moment. :)

Note : harrier is a Cards fan, so this is all he has.  Maybe the Patriots beat up on the Steelers yesterday, but I would still rather be a fan of a team that actually has a tradition and contends than one who is a perennial laughingstock.  If the Cardinals ever contend for anything, he'll know what it's like to have faith in your team when people are taking shots at you.  Until then, he'll have to continue to watch games when the sole rooting interest is whether or not he can bump a message board thread afterwards.
I'm proud to be a fan of the team from my home city, no matter how they do. You would rather be a fan of whatever team has a nice tradition and looks attractive? I assume you picked the Yankees, Lakers, and Canadians to go along with your Steelers?Downing someone for supporting their team even when a horrible owner holds them underwater: Poor.

Doing it because you're bitter that the other person understands football better than you and predicted in Novermber what would happen yesterday: Pathetic.
I hate the Yankees, Lakers, and Canadians. I am a Braves, Nets, and Rangers fan, so I have had more than my share of post-season disappointment.I wasn't downing you for supporting your team. Someone's got to do it. More power to you. I'm saying it's easy to rub other people's noses in losses when it's all you have going for you come playoff time.

As far as supporting your team goes, would it have been preferable that I abandon hope for my Steelers and go on record saying they could never beat the Pats in the playoffs? Is that standing by your team? Maybe if I could have been impartial in this case, I might have picked New England too. In this particular instance, it didn't matter if the Steelers were going up against the '85 Bears, I would have argued tooth and nail for my team. I'm a big-time homer - everyone on this board knows that. To claim your superiority in football knowledge based on this one game is folly. Then again, anyone who posts on these boards knows that you let no opportunity to proclaim yourself an expert on any subject go by. This is why your reputation is what it is.

WEAKyou root for the team that you're from..harrier is stuck with the Cards, I was stuck with the Bucs.Guess what..eventually it pays off.
I just get fed up with the Browns and Cardinals fans constantly poking the Steelers. Someone else beat us, take pride in that if you will. If you knew all the backstory here, you'd know where this was coming from.

It really exposed who has the football smarts around the Shark Pool and who doesn't.
:rotflmao: This is good stuff.I posted, about 800,000 times that if the Steelers dominated the line of scrimmage again, and didn't throw the game away early with turnovers, that they would win. If not, they would be in for a long afternoon. So, because I am a rabid Steeler fan and pumped my team up because I was excited about their turn-around this year, I know nothing? Because I defended them when they won 15 straight games and were constantly being called "overrated" and a "fluke" by bitter people like you, that means I know nothing? Please. They're in all likelihood the second-best team in the NFL. They're not overrated and they aren't fluke. You'll see when we pound you guys twice again next year and win the division again. Maybe next year we get over the hump.... and believe me, I'll be here touting them all year again, even if that means I don't get your seal of approval on my football knowledge.

Yes EG, I'm a big time Panther's homer, however that didn't stop me from predicting the NFC South division standings before the season to be 1) Atlanta, 2) NO, 3/4) Carolina/Tampa. I do try to take off the homer glasses before posting serious analysis in the pool. As an equal opportunity Pats/Steeler hater, I felt like I was offering an unbiased opinion of the state of the power in the AFC and backed it up with solid reasons why the Pats were the best in the league when they're record didn't support that opinion.

If I were posting here last year, you'd have seen a very different tone. However, the Steelers were rolling everybody up all year long - especially at the time that this whole exchange was going on. After back-to-back pastings of NE and Philadelphia, I felt that they were being shortchanged a bit, that's all.I posted a ways back when Atlanta was hot that they'd get flushed down the loo as soon as they ran into a team with a decent defense in the playoffs as well. What I didn't do is what harrier does, bump every thread in which I say something that proves true, just to rub it in someone's face. Your analysis was strong, and there's no doubt about that. Mine, I'm sure, was somewhat blinded by passion and rage. You were right, I was wrong. You're smart...I'm stupid. You're good-looking...I'm...not attractive.... :D

Glad to see that you've come to your senses and recognized my Clyde-like analysis ability. :D
