Bears #1 team in NFL? (1 Viewer)

Colts barely beat the Jets...

I would think it's a pretty clear picture who is the best team now.

Thoughts?

I was surprised by Rex's ability to deal with the Seattle D.

If you're doing rankings like college polls, the Bears deserve to be #1.

I don't think they're the best team in the league, and I don't think they'll win the Super Bowl.

The Bears almost got beat by the Vikings last week. And in case anyone has suddenly forgotten, the Vikings offense totally sucks ###. Tonight's win was a good one, but Seattle is the first good team they've beaten. They also beat Seattle minus one of the biggest red-zone weapons in the NFL.It's week 4. The Bears look pretty damn good, but the best in the NFL? Let's try to take deep breath and realize that beating up on the NFC North, and taking it to an injured Seattle at home doesn't make a team a lock for anything. How about what the Pats did today? On the road no less.

Well I think it's too early to say that, but after a few more wins, if they're 7-0 or so, I think it would be extremely hard to argue against ...

Does Shaun Alexander play defense? Is he worth 31 points against the Bears defense? Would have been the same level of domination if SA played tonight or not.

Right now there is no doubt they are the best team. What they need to start thinking about now is making sure they don't peak too early.

they have put out the best offense, the best defense and the best special teams in every one of their games this season. for the most part they play smart and tough and dont beat themselves. everyone sits around and gives the ravens roadhead any time they win, but ive been more impressed with the bears they look good from start to finish.

i think they will get homefield for the playoffs. you always have to worry about peaking to soon though, i usually dont buy that crap but it really seemed to happen to the colts last year

Too early to say they're the best team in the NFL right now? What team is it not too early to claim they're the best right now?

If they get the #1 seed in the NFC with home field, they should be in the SuperBowl. Barring injury, they are too good on both sides of the ball not to represent the NFC.

can all the bears haters that didn't believe for the last season and a half please finally admit that these guys are the real deal?

Had SA been in the game perhaps there would have been a threat of running, and would have made it much easier for hass to pass. Those two ints lead to 10 points and could have kept the game closer.

Well, they did get waxed at home by Carolina in the playoffs, who then got smoked by Seattle. So, although they were good, they weren't the best last year. That being said, they look like the best team in the NFL right now.

I can't see anyone being ranked ahead of the Bears right now. Berrian's ability to stretch the field is doing wonders for this offense.

I've thought from week 1, Chicago, San Diego and Baltimore are the best three teams in football, and still do.

They are easily the best team in the NFL after week 4. Their scedule is easy also and no one is going to want to play in Chicago in January. I'd be pretty pleased if I were a Bears fan (I'm not :bag: ).

Yeah, it might have been like 34-10 instead which is much closer.

their only weakness the first 3 weeks was the running game, but now that looks like it's kicking into high gear. They really have to be considered the cream of the crop right now.

the score of that game was 29-21 ... i dunno why ppl keep sayin the bears got dominated that game. the 13-3 win earlier in the season against that same team was more dominatingbut anyway i and many other bear fans (maybe except grid) never proclaimed them the BEST last year but a very good team

:goodposting: That was my argument above. Bears dominated in ALL aspects of this game and there is NO WAY Alexander would have made that much of a difference. Bears could have scored even more if they had wanted to. With their defense, once the Bears get up by more than two scores it is lights out.

Was this some sort of rhetorical question?
You might think thaty from reading the responses. I would say that Balt is being severly overlooked right now though. Balt just beat a very good SD team dispite having to overcome 3 TOs and several "shoot yourself in the foot" moments. Oh yeah, they too are undefeted.

uhh yeh i guess i see your point. it's hard for me to say they're better than colts/pittsburg/new england when those teams have been good for so much longer, but thats not exactly what this question was asking :)

not like alexander has been setting the world on fire with his new offense line anyway....btw, did alexander really get hurt by the dachsund in the commercial....it kinda looked real to me

If Grossman stays healthy and performs at or close to this level....you have your Super Bowl winner.

:lmao: I can see it now "Sure they're 8-0, but who have they beat?!" After week 1, everyone said "It's GB, but next week the Lions will show 'em" Then it was "Oh wait, maybe the Lions aren't that good - the Vikings will beat the Bears in Minny". This week it was "Yes, they're 3-0, but the defending NFC champs will take it to 'em...even without ShAlex!" Final: 37-6.The Bears were 11-5 last year with no QB (and in one of those games they rested their starters beginning in the 2nd quarter). In the playoffs, they got beat bad by Carolina. They are 4-0 now - which do you think are the fluke(s)? Yes, they almost (which, last time I checked doesn't mean diddly) got beat by the Vikings - but have blown the other 3 opponents off the field. I would submit that 3 torchings are real - not the one close game on the road. Are they best team in the NFL right now? Tough one. In the NFC? Oh BTW, in terms of the Pats: 1 loss down? (and to Denver, no less) Seriously, IF the Patriots even make the post season, they will NOT have a home game. In contrast to the Bears 3 easy wins, other than today's win for the Patriots, they won their other 2 games by a TD or less. Feel free to bump this in January (or perhaps I will) ;)

I swear to god I'm having massive Deja Vu. This all happened last season. "WOW THE BEARS ARE SO GREAT THEY DONT EVEN NEED AN OFFENSE!! WATCH THEY'LL WIN IT ALL WITH ORTON!!"Then they got bulldozed by Pitt. Then embarassed by one Steve Smith at home.Tonight's win was impressive, yes. I'm fairly sure noone is disputing that. All I'm saying is that 4 games into the year is a bit too premature to start the whole 'best team in the league' discussion. Espeically when 3 of your 4 wins are against the NFC North. Get to 7-0 or 8-0, and I'll start to entertain 'best team in the league' arguments. I'm not doing it now.And I wasn't trying to claim that the Pats were the best team in the NFL. Perhaps that's how it came across, but that wasn't my intent. I was just curious as to what people thought about the game.

Last I checked nobody won a Super Bowl in October.
No, but it can be a good indication of their position in the playoffs and how good they can be.
If they're playing like this in December then we can talk. I've seen way too many teams start out on fire and then fade down the stretch. It's a 16 game season and the key is to finish strong, not to start strong.

The Bills are going to take out the Bears next week in Jauron's triumphant return. Let down game time, BELIEVE IT!

Progression of Bears Doubters with their excuses.

1. They have zero offense with grossman at the helm..hahaha

2. It's only GB. No biggie

3. It's only Detroit. Wait until Minn with a real defense.

4. They barely won. Wait until Seattle puts them in their place.

5. SA was hurt. Bears will never go 5-0

6. What do you expect from the TD challenged Bills? Wait until they play the Cards.

7. They're starting a rookie...what do you expect. Wait until next week? who? The niners? NVM.

8. Niners...this one is a gimmie.

9. C-pepper...um...his knee is still hurt...doesn't count

10. Giants...they can't start games.

11. Jets....(Pennington's um....still hurt)

12. Pats...Brady has no receivers....it doesn't count if bears win.

13. Vikings....NFC North...enuf said.

14. Bucs....old team, no qb...doesn't count.

15. Lions...look at 13.

16. Packers...Look at 13.

Therefore, now all the bears doubters have an excuse to say the bears suck no matter how sucessful they are.

The reason the Bears are kicking so much tail is because they have a Florida guy at QB.

Gators represent.

I'd put them #1. I do think the Ravens and Colts will both get better as the season goes along for different reasons (however, the Ravens' schedule is going to be brutal - but they'll be a better team at the end of the year than they are now, but their record may not show it), but right now, the Bears should be the clear #1.

I don't see how this can even be argued at this point. That defense......now with a competent offense behind them?

They have no glaring weakness compared to what you see in the other top teams, and they've looked very, very, very good so far.

Bears fan here and I must say that they look very good. The best? It is smart to keep things in perspective- anything can happen in the NFL. I have seen this team lose Mike Brown and all of a sudden the defense looks suspect. I know that I have never seen a Bears team run an offense like this in quite some time. They do have backup power at RB and at QB and this helps. Strong at QB- RB- OL- defense and special teams. Tommie Harris is FINALLY the real deal high draft pick for the Bears on that DL. There is a LONG way to go with some exceptional talent in the NFC East and South. I am not at all impressed with the teams in the NFC West but will give Seattle a pass without Alexander. They are tough at home so this was a big step in avoiding a potential playoff matchup with the 'Hawks in Seattle if both teams can make it to the post season. Here you go Bear fans- it sure the heck feels GREAT to beat the heck out of Holmgren's squad after years of getting owned by the Packers...

Lifelong Packers fan here. Yes, the Bears are the best team in the NFL. They are going to win the Super Bowl if they stay healthy enough. The only thing that would derail them would be injuries at this point.

I just don't see a team like the Ravens or the Chargers being able to beat them. They are a much better 4-0 team than the Bucs were at this time last season!

Regardless of what they do, some people will never admit to it.
