If you have been following the Bears lately, Brown has become the captain only because he's popular in the clubhouse. His play has declined every year (mostly because he can't stay healthy), but more importanty I think that Lovie prefers the other safeties because they are faster and have better coverage skills.Brown is a good player who seems to be around the ball, but by no means is he a great safety. I'm not worried about losing him.
