I mentioned to you the other day David this will only get bigger and has to be considered a huge distraction to the coaches. He can not answer the questions if he chooses but that doesn't mean this is going away and it certainly doesn't mean he's not thinking about it.This is a huge PAIN in the butt and this will linger all season long. He should answer the questions, take the heat and then let it die down the best he can. This happened the other day and BB walked out. I expect the same to happen this time around. He won't answer more questions and has already stated this over and over.
Well, that's pretty much the opposite of the truth. Belichick already addressed the issue. The penalty has been determined and to him, that's the end of it. The more he talks about it, the more it has legs. It will die on it's own because after a few weeks it will seem pretty ridiculous that some reporters are still asking the same questions. He will never address it again so don't bother. Eventually reporters will need something to write about besides a video taping procedure.I mentioned to you the other day David this will only get bigger and has to be considered a huge distraction to the coaches. I'm not disagreeing with you, but his M.O. for years has been to be aloof and not answer questions he doesn't want to answer. And at this point I don't think the league and certainly not the team would want him answering the questions.IMO, if the media doesn't back off they won't get any information about anything Pats related, so they will quick tha badgering eventually or they'll have nothing to cover.I mentioned to you the other day David this will only get bigger and has to be considered a huge distraction to the coaches. Maybe you know the answer to this.....are the coaches required to come out and speak for certain things? I know in tennis, the professionals are required to come out and talk after a match. You may recall when Serena Williams lost to Henin that she mentioned that she wouldn't even be out there talking to "you guys" (meaning the reporters) unless she had to and didn't want to pay the fine for not doing it.I'm wondering if he's required to do so? If so, not getting anything Pats related wouldn't happen.I'm not disagreeing with you, but his M.O. for years has been to be aloof and not answer questions he doesn't want to answer. Isn't he always like that at press conferences?Just watched it. Bill looked pretty pathetic and out of it up there. He wasn't answering questions very well and seems very anxious to accept the fine and put this behind him. Makes me wonder if there was a lot more going on that we haven't heard ...
Yeah. I was going to say it was typical of every Press Conference I've seen of him. He's pretty disciplined to control himself and he absolutely steadfast in his comments. The Chargers is all he will talk about until Tuesday.Isn't he always like that at press conferences?Just watched it. Bill looked pretty pathetic and out of it up there. I believe coaches are required to have press conferences or media days or whatever technical term is is. They can answer whatever they want, I suppose. He has given out two prepared statements, so they can't say he didn't review his position with them.As I mentioned before, this will only serve to get people on his bad side, and I doubt it's the local media doing it because they have to cover the team. It's the new national folks jumping in that apparently don't get how he operates.Again, I don't condone it, but what choice does he really have? Who knows, maybe part of the deal with the league is that he can't discuss it.Maybe you know the answer to this.....are the coaches required to come out and speak for certain things? Here you go:"I accept full responsibility for the actions that led to tonight's ruling. Once again, I apologize to the Kraft family and every person directly or indirectly associated with the New England Patriots for the embarrassment, distraction and penalty my mistake caused. I also apologize to Patriots fans and would like to thank them for their support during the past few days and throughout my career. ""As the Commissioner acknowledged, our use of sideline video had no impact on the outcome of last week's game. We have never used sideline video to obtain a competitive advantage while the game was in progress.""Part of my job as head coach is to ensure that our football operations are conducted in compliance of the league rules and all accepted interpretations of them. My interpretation of a rule in the Constitution and Bylaws was incorrect.""With tonight's resolution, I will not be offering any further comments on this matter. We are moving on with our preparations for Sunday's game."In his official statement before the punishment was handed down, didn't BB say he would have no further comment until the leagues decision was made. He did say he would comment after a decision was made. Well?????? We're waiting! Apparently in that statement he was lying because he has yet to address the punishment and fines. So apparently on top of being a cheat he is no a liar.Disclaimer: Yes I am a Chargers season ticket holder but no matter if the Raiders (whom I can not stand) were playing the Pats this weekend, I would hope they would stomp a mud hole into their heads. BB is a scumbag that thinks he is smarter than everyone and the punishment Goodell handed down should have included game suspensions. The man makes $4.2 million this year. Sure losing 25% of your income for a fine is not something everyone wants to do but I am sure they will find some "creative" way for Bob Kraft to pay it and BB just goes on his merry way. The NFL should have suspended him without pay so that he misses paychecks and that would really send a message.
After this weekend they will be asking, "Do you think you would have beaten the Chargers if you had cheated?"![]()
What...like the fact that he may actually have to win a game based on his teams own merit? If the Patriots get blown out in this game the cheating questions will really put the heat on NE.Just watched it. Bill looked pretty pathetic and out of it up there. He wasn't answering questions very well and seems very anxious to accept the fine and put this behind him. Makes me wonder if there was a lot more going on that we haven't heard ...
Releasing two prepared statements that he probably didn't even write is not addressing the issue. Until Belichick address this in public (with his mouth) and answers questions, I will assume he is still hiding something or trying to avoid guilt.Belichick already addressed the issue.
I don't even think it'll take a blowout, just a win to make someone think that.Think about it:A. Last year the Pats won in SDB. This year the Chargers have to overcome havining a new coaching staff at the start of the yearC. The Patriots are probably better this year than last with the addition of MossD. The game this year is at NEIf NE loses this game, one would definately at least think about how much did that go into beating the Chargers last year.What...like the fact that he may actually have to win a game based on his teams own merit? If the Patriots get blown out in this game the cheating questions will really put the heat on NE.Just watched it. Seriously??? So a written statement that was put out by some PR hack on staff is the way BB addresses being caught cheating? The staff hands out a printed statement and that is the way he comments. What a coward! Be a man, stand up there and field the questions. I am interested in hearing his response to what his "interpretation" of the rules were. Did you read the rule he broke. Not a lot of wiggle room and gray area in there. But apparently we are all sheep and will take our little written statement as satisfactory and let BB get on with his life. Not good enough in my book. Here you go:"I accept full responsibility for the actions that led to tonight's ruling. In everything I've seen written in the NFL Constituition and Bylaws about this it refers to video taping...my guess is that BB was filming the other sideline (hence not being a competitive advantage while the gane was in progress because they couldn't process the film in time, but possibly a competitive advantage for the next game, or maybe just a pyscholigical advantage). Anyway, whatever his "interpretation" is, my bet is that it is Clintonian ("depends what the definition of "is" is) and as such Kraft will NOT allow him to voice it publicly as he know that this kind o hair-splitting will be a PR nightmare/laughfest.as always, just my opinionSeriously???
