Ben Tate's Toe (1 Viewer)

According to Rotoworld, he didn't practice today and will probably be a game time decision. Is anyone planning on picking up Forsett in the event that this turns into a lingering turf-toe injury?

Not unless I read that Tate could be sidelines for weeks, he's a Foster handcuff and dynasty stash only - the 3rd stringer is useless unless both of them are out for a given week.

I think it's beyond common sense that if Foster and Tate were both out in a week Forsett would be someone to pick up but it's the same common sense every other owner in your league would have as well so not easy to do at that point.I think it's a bit of a shark move to grab Forsett right now. I even recommended him to a friend of mine today as desperation RB2 this week. We don't know the severity of Tate's toe or if it's a turf toe but I just can't recall the last RB getting a turf toe and still being effective. I recall DMAC in game 2 of his rookie year breaking off 5 20+ yards against the Chiefs before than suffering turf toe and not being the same the rest of year. Same story for Best but it was week 3. Just saw Helu get put on IR for a turf toe. If it's a turf toe these things don't tend to improve without mulitiple weeks of rest at best.Than you have Foster who came into the season with some slight knee concerns and than keeps cropping up with minor stuff on the injury report every week. None of which should be surprising considering the massive load he's been hauling. I just don't see him keeping at this pace on touches, he's either going to suffer an injury that causes him to miss game(s) or they are going to need to spell him more with the backup RB and right now there is a possibility that guy is going to be Forsett for awhile. As always depends on your roster and needs. If I was not RB needy I might pass but if was constantly in desperate need of a RB to fill out my lineup he could be worth a stash and I think if Tate is out this week he could have a decent game when you consider this might be best team in the NFL against the worst team he stands to get touches.

If you don't have anyone that you'd hate to lose that another team will gobble up if he hits waivers, then sure, get Forsett. I already owned him one league I have Foster and Tate, and picked him up the other league, dropping Royster. Both have deep rosters.

But I wouldn't cut someone who is worth starting on a bye or for injury. Tate himself isn't often worth starting with Foster healthy. He puts up decent fantasy numbers about 1 game in 3 or 4 when Foster is active. So really if you get Forsett you'd be covering yourself for injury and not much more.

I have Tate, but I picked up Forsett as a handcuff.

If Tate is out for any extended period of time, any back running behind that offensive line theoretically would have value. Add Forsett who also has alot of talent...

To me this is a no brainer.

CAVEAT: IF you are in a deep league (my league starts 3 RB with max of 8 on a roster and has 12 teams).

"Kubiak expects Tate to go but he says he is very comfortable with Forsett and they'll see how tomorrow goes."

Sounds like a likely start.

But, seriously, which RB gets the 2nd most yards Monday? Tate (if he plays), Greene, Powell, or Casey?

From today's press conference:

(on the status of RB Ben Tate and how close he was to playing against the Jets) “He was not close. I don’t know. We’ll see where he’s at. They tell me he’s much better today. We’ve got to get (RB) Ben (Tate) back on the field, get him going. I felt really good with (RB) Justin (Forsett) last night. I knew he was ready to play. He had a great week of practice. We have a lot of confidence in Justin. Ben’s got to get back out there and get to work. We’ll see where he’s at tomorrow; and that’s going to even be tough, too, because I’ve got to get this team ready to play Sunday and freshen them up. There’s not going to be a lot of physical work this week. More mental than anything.”
